Hello! I'm so excited. I got your free e-book last year. It was just the basics, but before that I only had the shorts on Instagram to work with, and with the e-book they became so much easier to follow. (Or maybe the e-book became so much easier to follow with the shorts as complement.) I looked at the first step, paused the video, consulted the book and drew a step and so on. I'm very proud, I have developed so much, I'm sure that with this 5 step program I will be able to draw along with you in your videos and get a good copy of your drawing. I actually kind of already do, but I didn't want to brag. Of course I need to practice along with your videos for quite some time before I can do portraits after my own photos, but I'm going to start trying already now. I just need to keep in mind not to get to dissapointed when the results is not as good as the drawalongs. After all, it's practice not magic. I have been drawing with Chommang 's drawing routine for about six months, mainly to improve my manga/anime. I'm over 40 and have never drawn realistic before. I only drew dinosaurs, dragons and comic figures with my son, and big landscapes and wildlife with charcoal when I was drawing as therapy for myself. (I have problems with depression and that has always worked as therapy for me, I don't believe in medication for therapy.) I never thought that I still had the possibility to make an artist of myself, to be able to draw realistic portraits of friends and family. You should have a paid membership class with drawalongs on 80-90 minutes, so we can follow along in real time. And please don't shift to digital art. That's why I stopped following Chommang and started to look for a new "main teacher". I love his style, but in his more advanced videos he started with digital drawing. I get so dissapointed, because I want my end result to look the same as his, so when the figure is almost ready and he lowers the opacity to clean it up, I do the same by rolling a sausage of kneadable eraser allover the drawing, but when he ends by changing the proportions and moving the lines with the pen, I get so dissapointed. I can't try to do something similar with pencil and paper and I'm going to continue with my pencils. Enough rambling, I just wanted to extend my gratitude and explain my satisfaction with what I learned from you already and what I know I'm going to learn from you in the future. I'm so glad I found you on TH-cam, I followed you on Instagram for about 6 months without knowing you had a TH-cam-channel.🎉🫶
@@itzCatling so I used the loomis rule of third at first. But as you can see in that reference the upper third is way smaller than the other two. So I tried to observe the reference and change the hair line position to match the reference.
