Thank you! After five years of university majoring in art, not once was anything like this taught to us. All the profs "taught" like we already knew these techniques so just "move along, students".
This is my first time watching and I learned a lot pf things. I once tried to draw a girl but i had no techniques at all and all i did in my way and i was able to draw around 70% of her total face and i never was able to draw her eyes correctly. Now I think I can complete that incomplete drawing. Thank you so much man, i really have learned a lot ❤
FWIW - As portrait photographer I’d never pose someone an oblique view with the nose cutting into the far eye. While it is ideal in an oblique view to profile the far eye notch o\o< that’s just not possible on some wider faces. Also a trick learned from the Master photographer I apprenticed with and assisted after getting the head posed you’ll want the subject to ‘cheat’ their eyes about half way been looking straight ahead (disconnected body language) and at the you or camera (shifty eye and deceptive) until sclera (white) is seen on either side of the iris and then have them find a spot on the wall to look at because they will repeated look back at you ‘shifty-eyed’ as which point you can tell them to ‘look back at the spot on the wall. The result is a more balanced and flattering appearance. Most faces aren’t symmetrical and one oblique view will be more flattering than the other for most. I was trained and it’s now habit to look a face 180° from left profile, left oblique, full face, right oblique and right profile to find the most flattering angle.
You're quite right, but the head's position is meant to capture the look backwards. That is, the look of attraction and to hell with balance and symmetry. That is NOT real life, but adornment. That said, the photograph did a better job.
People get very touchy about their art works and catty too. Even Michael Angelo was jealous of da Vinci and vice versa. It's amazing how such talented men can envy each other.
I find it really interesting to draw the eyes last! I'm gonna try it out because for me they're one of the first features I draw and sometimes I'm not happy with how they look so maybe if I first construct the rest of the face, it'd be easier to then draw the eyes! Thank you for inspiring me. Love it
Finally I can see the completely technical is play with the shadows. Thanks for share this video . Long time a ago I try to learn but my problem always was the shadows, now I can see because the eyes and the end in the definition of how the lights work and my eyes saw the image. Light the Camara work.
The way you drew her reminds me of Historia... the depth, the way you pave your way to trust the process, wow. You made me teary. You made me miss drawing to simply just - express myself.
Ay stop deprecating yer self only I can do that life started with imperfections but gradually evolve into something beautiful I'm u can as well you'll never know until you try, try hard and try harder YOLO after all
Pensé que agarraba el lápiz incorrectamente ... Pero al cabo de un rato me percaté que lo toma de muchas diferentes maneras , de acuerdo al trazo y la inclinación que necesita... Fantástico!.
I love this video/process. Really inspiring. I'm used to using a grid method which takes forever and is difficult to erase. I like this use of the Loomis method you utilized. Definitely gonna try it out.
For those who are out there, the more you look at reference and your drawing the more they become dissimilar.... It's not aa bad drawing brother....trust me you are worth more than a fucking piece of paper..
Hi, thank you so much for a mesmerizing experience What i learned is, treat the eyes like negative space and slowly sneak up on them. Its too tempting to draw the eyes first (incorrectly) then struggle to fit a face around them.
This was good practice. I enjoyed drawing along with you. I found your approach to the process different and that helped me not have tunnel vision and forced me to draw what my eyes see not what my brain says I am drawing. Like drawing upside down or with a mirror. I will look forward to more practice with you.
Thank you for this demonstration which I enjoyed immensely from.start to finish. I thoroughly appreciated the attention to detail. On that subject, if I have to make any minor criticizm, it is the absence of light reflecting from iris of the eyes, especially the pupil in the girl's left eye. Otherwise, it is a very realistic representation. Thanks again.
Thanks man. I can finally draw a circle now. One step at a time
Exactly 👏
😂😂😢

I think the construction on top of the reference is a genius idea. Very helpful to all artist. Doing it for the skull would be really nice too
Glad you think so!

I did a large acrylic on canvas of Sigmund Freud ten years ago, and he still has no eyes in his sockets 😂

Your art never gets old❤❤
♥️
The way you drew her reminds me of Historia... the depth, the way you pave your way to trust the process, wow. You made me teary.
You made me miss drawing to simply just - express myself.
Great words 🥰 Thank you!
While watching i also wanted to draw but i know the result 😂😂😶😶i will make alien
I'm sure you'll get there with practice
Do 1,000 ugly aliens and one of them will come out nice
Two years ago while trying to draw portraits of women I was drawing trolls. But now my portraits are more proportionate and look more human.
I’m with ya. I like to think of my alien doodles to be the result of my sincere, but clearly failed, attempts at using the Loomis Method 😂
Ay stop deprecating yer self only I can do that life started with imperfections but gradually evolve into something beautiful I'm u can as well you'll never know until you try, try hard and try harder YOLO after all
