You've completely misinterpreted what's gone on here. 1) Stephen was deliberately acting like a jerk. 2) Hugh appreciated the bit so much, that's why he wrote all the cards. comedians aren't like normal people, they only care about being funny.
I’m currently reading Hugh Laurie’s book (The Gun Seller) and from time to time I have to laugh audibly even if there are people around. He has such a brilliant mind. One of my favourite people on entertainment ever. Can’t wait to have the time to watch his new show

As a teenager I watched a lot of IFC and Sundance channel (those were 2 of the indie film networks we had on cable here in the US, before streaming we had indie tv and film on cable) so I watched way more British sketch comedy than a lot of Americans who have seen House. I don't know how it is in the UK but most people where I live in the US have no idea that he does comedy...even though he's funny in House like all the time.

I have been listening to Stephen Fry read his autobiography 'The Fry Chronicles' and he tells of meeting Hugh at university and they became the comdey writing team we know and love so Hugh has got comedy pedigree and is naturally funny.

This was marvellous to behold and its the reason Hugh Laurie is one of my favourite comedians. Well executed. Never mean and always funny.
