Man, THIS IS LIKE THE BAND OF MY WILDEST DREAMS COME TO LIFE!!! You got Susan's soul-testifyin' voice on full display, Derek's mighty slide ready to cut loose at any moment, a rhythm section so heavy in the groove it takes TWO drummers to hold it down (lol), a crack brass section, and a nice dallop of "road-tested" backups bringing a fine sense of harmony to the mix. With this lineup, they can cover so much musical terrain both familiar and unexplored. TTB's where it's at, folks! ;-D
Aug. 29, 2012 Albuquerque NM outside under a full moon...... These guys where so on. If they come again....I'm there. It was like quit your job awesome.
I just watched ths like 6 times in a row. The singer is amazing and that slide guitar solo is just sick. It's like 70's rock done better than most bands that were actually around in the 70's. Awesome.
i remember first seeing these guys on this episode, the next day i learned they'd be playing a local show in the next week, i bought tickets and fell in love with these guys there incredible
Susan & Derek might be THE Couple of Todays Blues Rock I love them both Derek Trucks is a Master on the Slide Guitar and Susan has the PERFECT voice for this kind of music i am very happy i discovered them in 2007
Just saw them live and besides the Allman Bros, probably one of the tightest and most talented bands around. Every musician in this band is unreal. Oteil Burbridge is a phenom and when you see them live, the guy just looks like he's having the time of his life. Saw several comments about vocals. Susan is incredible; what truly makes this band so unique is its interchangeable parts. The male singers all take their turns singing lead and backup during their shows. Nobody showboats, just really ta
3:59 "You've been practicing..." WTF??????? DOES HE KNOW WHO HE'S TALKING TO?!?!?! Derek Trucks is arguably the best slide player alive today, Conan give the man the respect he deserves...
@Johaneeeek thats the new limited edition derek trucks signature model you can pick it up right now at guitar center for around1600$ actually less than the price of a 61 reissue ,not a bad deal!
That's husband and wife best in the business Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, the most amazing guitarist in the world! Catch them they are great in concert!
That is one lightning slide, and perfection to boot! Yes, the "practice remark" was a joke; obviously Conan was just as blown away by Derek's playing as the rest of us... if he didn't make a joke about it, he would have to pull a Wayne and Garth "we're not worthy" homage, and he didn't want to ruin his nice suit pants.
This girl knows how to wail. One of the best blues mamas since Janis, puts gimmick artists like 'Lady Ga-Ga' into the weeds. Real talent and hard work make an artist, not alot of flash and weird videoes.
Grace's earlier stuff was bluesier and she DIDN'T jump around and dress like a tramp. Susan's voice is killer and she plays. As for those below saying this band needs a MALE singer, that's just silly. And, Derek's not whipped, he's happy & making music WITH his wife that they BOTH love. They've done, and still do, their own thing. As a singer/guitarist myself and playing music with my own drummer husband, I can say from experience...combining your two loves into one place is completely amazing.
Fot the person below; Six string Bass, adds an octave above and below that 4 strings wont do! The 3rd mic stand is for the drummer! How about just LISTEN? lol...
@450120bz8px Double drums have got to be one of the best ideas! Look up the song " outside woman blues" by Doyle Bramhall. He plays it in the crossroads 2007. It's awesome
looks/sounds like derek have had a better control of playing the open D tuning live comparing to the performance on Leno and Oh my goodness is Conan tall
Great tunes! Great band! Would be nice to hear some male lead vocals. That band deserves an additional singer. She is quite good and all, but let's see some variety. Female vocals just don't cut it on a constant basis. Gets annoying to listen to.
Agreed! I think Derek got whipped when he married her :) Although she is f'n great i think they would benefit greatly if Mike Mattison was the "lead" singer(again).
hahahah.. but seriously, they didnt need all of that for this show.. THIS SONG would still sound amazing with 4 string bass, just susan and one drummer.
I think Grace Potter is even a better singer than Susan and a great songwriter and she has a very good band, just check the older videos of her here on TH-cam (eg. in the SUN studio). But you're right, insofar as what she's doing now on stage I don't like much either, she's gone on the wrong track too ambitiously striving for fame. But Susan is wonderful too and Tedeschi-Truck's "Revelator" is a better CD than Grace ever made.
Thank God for this band bringing some brightness to USA

The headstock on her guitar looks huge. Great song, just heard about this band.
Susan has that great raspy blues voice and Derek plays that slide so effortlessly.
Great stuff!
Derek trucks is incredible, his slide playing sounds just like a person singing!
Aug. 29, 2012 Albuquerque NM outside under a full moon...... These guys where so on. If they come again....I'm there. It was like quit your job awesome.
12 people need to learn how to love! This is a great piece with the brass and drummers, Susan and Derek!
This has got to be my favourite song they played when I saw them. So raw. So real
My Favorite song from the album! Awesome performance.
These two make beautiful music together. Sometimes very cool things happen!
I dont have to learn how to love this song, cause i fell in love already!
Conan to Derek: "You've been practicing." haha
Excellent!
Sweet-Susan looks beautiful & sounds really good.

whooops.. and I found out 'bout this band just 'cause of Derek.. lol
Awesome solo !
love the horns - nice touch :)
Susan & Derek might be THE Couple of Todays Blues Rock

voice for this kind of music i am very happy i discovered them in 2007
Looking forward to the 7/28/11 show in Spartanburg!!! Yahoo!!!
That brass arrangement is incredible.

Pure, gritty, organic... and so much talent. Love the groove you two create.
The best!!
NIce camera work this time around!
Incredible! Can't wait for another round of LA shows.
Great stuff!
One of the most talented BANDS in existence!
I was Susan bk n 98' she was with Buddy Guy & BB King what a show that was !
Love it
Going to see them in Cincinnati in April, can't wait!
3:31 - 3:34 blows my mind. "You've been practicing" LOL
Man! Suasans smokin growl is soo bad!!!! Im a longtime fan and could listen to her longtime!!!
Oteil is awesome back there! :)
Great song. Great Band.
comes together like a favorite salad dressing....good ingredients to start with, but blended together it becomes incredible
3:59 "You've been practicing..." WTF??????? DOES HE KNOW WHO HE'S TALKING TO?!?!?! Derek Trucks is arguably the best slide player alive today, Conan give the man the respect he deserves...
what a killer tone derek got.....pure vintage classss...
we haven' had such powertrain running for a while !
I can't wait..... Albuquerque NM this August.....
Tedeschi
WHOAH! Don't you just wish you were in the audience for that??!
Nailed it!!! (again)
That SG looks brand new!
I absolutely love this tune. It's so groovy.
I'm beginning to think Derek is a genius!
you gotta see "why does love got to be so sad" w/ Eric Clapton @crossroads. He didn't pick the slide for the last half minute of the song. Priceless.
Most epic solo by Derek
This is just bliss..
@Johaneeeek thats the new limited edition derek trucks signature model
you can pick it up right now at guitar center for around1600$ actually less than the price of a 61 reissue ,not a bad deal!
Love them!
I miss Oteil. Love TTB though!

Oh Derek... you're gonna kill me man
I liked Susan when she was on her own just fine , this generation of band is very full with the two drummers and all the personnel

i love watching derek grow
Kinda strange seeing Derek with a beard but he still kicks ass!
Geezzzuuusss. Talk about being kocked falt on your ass..... Man what a band.
you know it's a decent band when the live version is significantly better than the studio version.
Interesting to see Drucks not slide. Im imagining more songs with a free left hand. So far this works very well.
Bad ass
This band would kick ass without Derek's guitar, but I'm really glad it's there.
to bob hat, i totally agree, i didnt have this quote but a friend of mine says grace is a brittany spears stevie nicks wanta be
Susan and very good band plays a lot ...
Glad to see a beard on Trucks looks awesome, I think they were too powerful for that stage, practically blew out the surrounding walls.
Derek looks like he's a lot more comfortable onstage
D Angelico, most likely custom, it looks most like style NYSD-9 except for the color. looks like base price of around $1500
thats what u get when there are pro's rippn it up!!!!! awsome!!
Check out the Grace Potter and with AAB doing Southern Man on You tube.
@z32j10h I was thinking the same thing about the beard lol...
@MrRandyrugar19 yes man, that's Oteil!
Fot the person below; Six string Bass, adds an octave above and below that 4 strings wont do! The 3rd mic stand is for the drummer! How about just LISTEN? lol...
wow is right
I've always wondered about that guitar Susan is using. What is it, exactly?
@MrRandyrugar19 Yessir.
3:30 - there's probably only a few people on the planet that can play that...
6 string bass.....sweet.....
THAT WAS HOT
@450120bz8px Double drums have got to be one of the best ideas! Look up the song " outside woman blues" by Doyle Bramhall. He plays it in the crossroads 2007. It's awesome
What's the matter w Derek Trucks? He so damn good!
looks/sounds like derek have had a better control of playing the open D tuning live comparing to the performance on Leno
and Oh my goodness is Conan tall
he's got robotic hands
Is that Otiel Burbridge from ABB??
Gibson Guitars making a artist Grace Potter flying V guitar? I am thinking they should have made it in their Epiphone line instead!
What is the guitar Susan is playing?
@CharlieRae24 I'm sure everyone knew he was joking. (He's a comedian... it's what he does!)
Here are another stupid questions for you:
Why six strings bass?
Why two back singers?
Why three microphones, while they have only two backsingers???
my favourite band
but gaga rocks check her out on just piano
Why two drummers? I don't understand this!
Hey, wait a sec... Susan, bass, drums...??? How you could forget about Derek?! ;)
Drum kits are WAY too low in the mix.
...add Beth Hart.
hahahah.. but seriously, they didnt need all of that for this show.. THIS SONG would still sound amazing with 4 string bass, just susan and one drummer.
