You know, a character that has always stood out to me these games in particular is The Riddler. Honestly in my opinion these games have the best depiction of The Riddler outside the comics. Wally Wingert who voiced the character in all 4 games always delivered such an incredible performance that always managed to perfectly capture Riddler's obsessive personality, massive ego and superiority complex.

I play Arkham games pretty much every year (Arkham during Autumn early winter and Uncharted in summer time) and every year I enjoy them just as if not more than before. I know you've completed the games you've done retrospectives for but I wanted to ask if you have listened to all the interview tapes from the Arkham games? If not I highly recommend watching them because they offer some of the best conversations in the entire Arkham series.
I may be in the minority but gameplay aside I actually preferred the story of Asylum. It felt more tightknit and focused whereas City's was following a bunch of different threads. The Scarecrow sequence blew me away in Asylum and I loved the dynamics between him and the Joker, who I felt we didn't really see much of in City. One thing is also the setting of Arkham Asylum had a certain feel to it and the opening where you felt something was off was pretty awesome, and it felt like an extension to the comics whereas City changed the story with how Strange was dealt with as well as the death of the Joker. But that's just my take.
Really excited for when you get to Arkham Origins next. That game was definitely underrated when it first came out. More recently however people have gone back to this game and have praised it for its great story and amazing performances and it has in my opinion the second best story in the series with the first being Arkham City. It also has the best and most accurate depiction of Bane ever outside the comics.
Wish I still had motivation to play open world games. Always feels like a chore whenever I find myself given the freedom to decide what I want to do next. I can respect a good game even if I don't want to play it, of course. I remember my friends going nuts for this game on release.
my memory is messed up as I remember I stopped playing during the 'find Rha's ah ghul's hiding place mission and never got to the boss fight with him, but I also remember doing the mr freeze boss fight??? In fact I remember going as far as having to go the steel mill a second time and Catwoman having to make a choice. I guess I did do the Rhas fight after all. But I remember it being a sticking point with Arkham City that that the sheer amount of secondary missions and riddler trophies were such a distraction that I lost all track of where I was meant to be going in the game and thats why I stopped (I had a similar response with Arkham origins, weirdly did not have the issue with either Asylum or Knight though)
Would love to hear your long-form thoughts on the watch dogs trilogy. There’s not nearly enough on them in my opinion. Those games have so much good and so much bad it’s fascinating
Its amazing how Rocksteady took the biggest criticism of the previous game (bosses sucked), and had this game had some of the best boss battles in gaming history. While the atmosphere in Asylum was better, City is better in every single other aspect.
I love this game, but I remember that I couldn't play it around my Mom because she didn't like Catwomans zipper placement, the nasty thugs, and Two Face saying "bitch." So I had to play Amazing Spider-Man 2 instead, I was less than ecstatic lol
I actually revisit Asylum, City and Origins more often than Knight. Partially because I'm more familiar with the controls of those 3, and going back and fort to Knight is a little jarring (for me). And, Knight is a bit too complicated for me... a personal issue, I know. I also prefer the smaller, more inclosed predator rooms to the completely open (and more sparse) predator areas in Knight.
I just finished my replay of Arkham city very recently and I really feel Catwoman was completely tacked on like she has little to no bearing on the story
I'm that type of gamer who doesn't actually have the money to freely spend on DLC, I'm also the type of gamer who has played this game atleast 6 times just because it's that good. so when you said you start off the game as Catwoman I was wtf, no you don't you start off as Bruce Wayne but then you said DLC & I was like ah, well now that makes more sense. I remember wanting to go into Poison Ivy's lair so bad as a teenager but couldn't as I didn't have Catwoman as a playable character. Really ticked me off hahahaha
This was my intro to the arhkam series simply cuz i had a ps3 not a 360(my brother had one but i didnt buy games for it) so its hard for me to play asylum pretty sure i did beat but compared to this game its not memorable
It's a shame Rocksteady never made a superhero game again. Although it must be a relief for you that you can now move onto a new series because the Batman universe games definitely ended right here.

Remaster really fucks up a lot of lighting, shadows, coloration and hair. Slightly higher texture resolution and better models do not compensate.

I disagree, the series is about Batman and Joker. The way they brought Joker back in Arkham Knight was probably the best way they could have done it.
