      The sword belongs with the Jedi. It was a Jedi weapon made by someone who was Jedi before leaving and clearly, Tarre Vizsla trusted the Jedi counsel more than the Mandalorians to keep the darksaber in good hands before the sacking of the temple by the Vizslas.

      A good argument! I posted elsewhere that the Darksaber was cursed. My argument was that the Mandolorian houses/clans were fighting and killing each other over the possession of that blasted Darksaber. In the process, ravaging the planet.

      It wasn't faulty. When he burned out the heavy blaster it damaged or drained the jetpack. In the scene where the gun is glowing red, you can see steam shooting out of the jetpack thrusters. My guess is that his jetpack was the Tibana reserve and power supply for the gun.

    I preferred when the symbol of the Mandalore was a helmet. They were no longer an individual, by putting the helmet on they became a symbol, an example. Armor is a truly massive part of being a Mandalorian. If there’s an artifact that determines their leader, it should be the helmet.

    Tarre Vizsla was a Jedi and Mandalorian leader who united his people during times of conflict. He did this to protect his people by uniting them to prevent any more divisions and wars that will destroy their culture and people. However, Tarre Viszla is a Jedi at heart, a peacekeeper. He died a Jedi and his Darksaber was kept in the Jedi Temple in his honor. However, House Viszla would one time raid the Jedi Temple and steal his Darksaber, believing it to be the symbol of power and unity. What House Viszla got wrong was that Tarre Viszla's leadership, peacekeeping skills, and courage is what united Mandalore. Not the Darksaber. This heavy misconception in the Darksaber culture led to many Mandalorians desiring it by killing or defeating its previous user. This constant cycle caused Mandalore to stray away from Tarre Viszla's teachings in favor of self-interest. The endless Darksaber claim wars gradually destroyed Mandalore and left the world barren and lifeless. Many Mandalorians believed that one who didn't properly earn the Darksaber will bring Mandalore to ruin. This idea is heretical and prideful as the Mandalorians are left blinded that it is their hubris that caused Mandalore's destruction, not how the Darksaber is claimed. Mandalorians must escape the cycle and learn to believe in themselves and other Mandalorians. They must learn how to stop needless violence and regain honor as well as rediscover the teachings of Tarre Viszla, the Jedi peacekeeper of Mandalore. Therefore, the destruction of the Darksaber symbolizes the end of the cycle and that Mandalorian unity is what makes Mandalorians strong, not trinkets like the Darksaber. It is the person, not the object who can change society for the better. It will be ironic if House Viszla had the assistance of the Sith Empire or one of many Sith Empires (Lucas did say there were many) to help steal the Darksaber from the Jedi Temple. Joining the literal devils of Star Wars in stealing the Darksaber just shows how House Viszla fell from grace. Paz Viszla's sacrifice is meaningful because he is what a Viszla should've been. Caring, courageous, and selfless. Paz Viszla is like Tarre Viszla returned as if the former Mandalorian Jedi came back to give Mandalore one final push to salvation. The Mythosaur is a rare creature but might be a very wise and intelligent one. The Mythosaur likely saw Mandalore's depravity and left. It will return once Mandalore regains its lost honor. This is the way. For Mandalore!!!

    • @Bzhydack
      @Bzhydack ปีที่แล้ว +5

      And all this is not new concept for Mandalore. Bo-Katan's sister, Satine, thought She can end this cycle of constsnt fighting, but her approach was also somewhat extremist - pacifism is not a good wayto follow if there is galactic war nearby.

    • @ertymexx
      @ertymexx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is because mandalorians are stupid. They are so into tradition that they completely miss the point. Seeing a mythosaur was more important than the realisation that their planet wasn't toxic. Who had the darksaber was more important than who could or would actually lead. It became outright nonsensical when Gideon had it (whom they should follow, according to their own traditions), or when Din had it, but refused to even try to lead. They are too stuck in symbolism and doing things "the old way" rather than move on and be pragmatic. So classical warrior culture. 😛

    I pretty much thought the exact same thing when i saw that happen. Yes, the Dark Saber is an awesome and unique lightsaber, with a heck of a lot of historical significance to the Mandalorian people. But culturally and politically, that damned blade has been a curse hanging around their necks for generations, ever since it was looted from the Jedi temple. Moff Gideon unwittingly did the Mandalorians a favour when he crushed it.
    And this wasn't Gideon being stupid, he genuinely believed that crushing the Dark Saber like that would break Bo-Katan's will to fight. And even just a month previous, maybe it would have; but Bo-Katan had further changed and grown since their last meeting, while he had not.

    • @koliszmark9588

      The blade was cursed because it was stolen from a Jedi temple, where it more or less was its resting place... and no one who wielded it after that was a Mandalorian (whether by birth or one who took creed) and a forceuser at the same time... if it is destroyed or just broken we'll find out next season or even further into the mandovers...i believe if someone who wields the force and is a Mandalorian can rebuild the blade and break the curse...and yes i would love for Din Grogu to build his first blade from the rest of it... because why not :D

      Gideons attitude is pretty much your typical imperial/sith attitude, personal power and prestige above everything. Bo saying that they are stronger together and the resulting defeat show that for all his ability he was weak in the end. Solidarity and selflessness won the day for the mandalorians, just as it did for the rebellion. It was a great episode, the climax felt like a Star wars movie, return of the Jedi particularly.

No, but it is still heritage that is maintained even till this days and its story will continue to be told till the end of time itself even anime loves excalibur, so no its not just a tool its more than a symbol as well it is heritage and culture something that even mandalorians value that they still have differing tribes and belief systems from the old mandalorian ways despite being united

In contrast, the Mandalorians embrace the violence of the battlefield and want to face that uncertainty as protected as they can be so they armor up and dig in for a long haul.

I think it served its purpose in unifying mandalore but its probably for the best the Mandalorians find other ways to elect their leaders.

      They apparently did have a royal lineage. Satine and Bo-Katan were of that.
      The Vizsla's wanted the old ways..not these soft New Mandalorians. They played up the importance of the Darksaber and started yet another Mandlorian Civil War.
      Allegedly they all take The Creed. Outsiders don't, so they shouldn't have any legitimate claim to leadership, regardless of owning some Vizsla trinket.
      The whole plotline with the Darksaber - from The Clone Wars, through Rebels, and now culminating in The Mandalorian - is a load of steaming Dooku. The Mandalorian tunnel-vision is beyond comprehension.

    • @TigerofRobare
      @TigerofRobare ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's the thing: no one who ever won the Darksaber was able to unify Mandalorians with it. Pre Viszla started a civil war, when Maul killed him Death Watch split into factions. The Saxons, who governed Mandalore for the Empire, were resisted by Bo-Katan and no Mandalorians followed Moff Gideon. Axe even refused to follow Din Djarin.

    Paz might not have been able to fly away.
    It was established earlier in the season the Bo-Katan, the Night Owls and by extension the Mercenaries had much higher tech equipment than the Children of The Watch Covert. This was said by the Armorer when she repaired Bo-Katans armor, she did the best she could with the material and supplies she had but she had limitations. Some of the members of the Covert don't even have full durasteel armor, such as the one with only a partial helmet. So Ax Woves haveing a jetpack that could pull more G's and still last longer didn't seem odd to me. Not all Mandalorian gadgets and armor are made equal.
    Additionally the Mandalorians versus Imperial Remnant Super Commandos. The Imperials haven't practiced in that armor with those weapons their whole life. The Mandalorians not only have, they also know the weaknesses of their own armor. Once they knew the Imperials had Beskar armor most stopped going for center of mass and head shots and started going for the joints between plates.

    Another great video man. Between your knowledge on the setting, analysis of it through various lenses, and excellent sense of humor, this has become my favorite Star Wars channel. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this, especially when you do it despite being sick and such.
    I have one question, possibly gripe, about this video though. Specifically about Paz. Yes, he COULD HAVE flown away after beating the commandos and not died to the red armored purple stick handlers. But I think the point of him staying back in the first place, and continuing to fight on even as his gun overheated... and likely melted together... was to give the others as much time as possible by keeping the focus on himself. I agree that the desire to do so was almost guaranteed to be, at least in part, due to his ideology. But selling your life as dearly as you can for your brothers in arms, for civilians, or for any other people who you want to give any and all chance to live, has been something that warriors have done for all of time. And is not a shameful or stupid thing in and of itself. It's also not something most people are even capable of, especially not in this day and age. It takes an above and beyond sense of duty and a loyalty to chose death, so that others may live. Especially when one isn't told to do so, and or indoctrinated into it, like the Jedi often seem to be.
    But regardless of my view on this, I can still see where you were coming from on it. And again, thanks for another awesome video. FOR THE REPUBLIC!

    I'm sure many people have pointed out by now, but Paz Vizla could not just fly away. As he was making his stand, it is reasonable to assume his jetpack was using the same power battery as his minigun. As we see the minigun very much overheat, we see his jetpack overheat at the same time. By the time he was facing the early Praetorian Guards, his jetpack was already broken leaving him to his fate. Why is it always the heavy gunners in Star Wars that make the most glorious last stand?

    • @ForestRaptor
      @ForestRaptor ปีที่แล้ว +3

It was logistics and able to unify different personalities to accomplish an overall goal. He was able to to make Patton and Montgomery work together

    Since the episode where the armorer declared the spear to be un-mandalorian I became convinced that the darksaber would be destroyed in this series at once point. I expected it to be more deliberate and not thought the course of battle. Original mandalorians created conflict so they had battles to fight. Season 3 though has established the opportunity for them to not start fights but find honor by ending fights righteously.
    While I agree that fighting a rearguard probably could have allowed everyone escape, his sacrifice though guaranteed everyone's escape. The reason he didn't fly away after defeating the commandos is simple though there is a short moment during the fight where they shoot his jetpack and right before the praetorian arrive you see it through sparks so he was probably trapped.
    His death is more important though, as pointed out previous Vizlas died for their own ambitions. Paz though had previously already put his own ambitions aside to do what is right by the Way.
    His son is his son and thanks to Din Grogu we know that whether by blood or adoption it's considered the same. Whereas prior to his death all his son had is a legacy of violence, disgrace and death, Paz's death left his son a legacy of honor, courage and sacrifice to live up to. Though the kid probably would just like his dad back. Paz erased the taint from the Vizla name, going forward hearing that name doesn't automatically make the character a villain.
