*MAKE PUMPS 6* Polzeath Fire | Cornwall FRS Appliances on scene of a large residential fire!

This video shows multiple appliances on scene of a fire in Cornwall, the incident was make pumps 6 however, when the relief appliances came to the incident there were 12 pumps on scene, these crews then took over and incident was back to 6 pumps. The video also includes specialist appliances such as the Fire Welfare Unit, the Line Rescue Unit and the Rescue Tender.

so I'm wondering what is the definition of relief appliances. i was thinking that it is some sort of reserve unit at a station that replaces the main units at the incident. the main units can be at station for other calls.

Relief appliances are normal fire engines from other fire stations, not 'reserve' appliances. They will attend an incident so other fire engines can leave the scene. It will be up for fire control to move around standby fire appliances to maintain fire cover

Just out of curiosity, how come line rescue and rescue tender were required?

Many brigades mobilise a Rescue Tender to a make-up property fire, usually make pumps 4 or above. With my brigade, Staffordshire, it’s 5 and above.

@@YelpBullhorn oh that's different, I'm not 100%sure but think in Wales they only use them in rescue calls and rtc's!
