I’ve seen on many vids and I wonder why some pumps have one of the station watches on like Green or white
In this case it is not watches, in Cornwall the ‘spare’ or ‘reserve’ appliances are named and arranged in colours.

so I'm wondering what is the definition of relief appliances. i was thinking that it is some sort of reserve unit at a station that replaces the main units at the incident. the main units can be at station for other calls.
Relief appliances are normal fire engines from other fire stations, not 'reserve' appliances. They will attend an incident so other fire engines can leave the scene. It will be up for fire control to move around standby fire appliances to maintain fire cover

Why do retained fire fighters always use old engines? I thought they would use the same engines as the full timers would.
We do. At least in HWFRS, our pumps are sometimes even better but always equal. D&S seems to have a lot of old pumps passed down to retained for some reason

Ok, explain for us who don’t know, what’s rare about this. A lot of these kind of videos seem to use the word rare a lot.
In this case, cornwalls Aerial appliances are rare because of the very low number of shouts they get. Cornwall only has 1 official high rise in st Austell and the ALPs don’t go on many things like barn fires due to the small amount of room in the lanes

We could almost do with an area wide text alert system, I mean, that would be handy and surely no one would complain about it as it’s for their safety.
We had a 1999 Volvo at our Station that thing was incredible the whole time shiny new pump was Always off due to electrical issues
