  • From www.gaycenter.org - The current generation of LGBT seniors came of age amidst the profound social changes of the 1950's 60's, and 70's. Their stories reflect queer history from the isolation of the past, to the triumphs of the present day. Part one of this two part series, takes a look at what it was like to be "gay" before the Stonewall uprising, when lesbians and gays felt enormous pressure to conform. Out at the Center sat down to hear the experiences of these individuals who are currently active with SAGE or Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders. This video excerpt is from Out at the Center, a TV show of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of New York City. The show is made possible thanks to members of the Center and viewers like you. To find out more, join or donate go to: www.gaycenter.o...

I like how he said Stonewall was just another dive and emphasized that nothing would have changed without the activism after Stonewall riots.

I wasn't there; I joined in the '70s. But I knew this generation, their stories & struggles.
