    Fun fact: this script was four pages.
    Also, just to reiterate, again, I’m not saying that the multiplayer is bad or worse - just that the single player has an equally valuable experience to offer, in an apples and oranges sort of way.

      Then why does the video say its better in single player? Lol jk

    There are a lot more multiplayer Zelda’s than I thought there were. For a long while I just thought the only one was Tri Force Hero’s which I thought was the Federation Force of the series (Federation Force is an underrated gem tho and I will die on that hill)

    Was never able to play Four Swords Adventure. However the one thing I can comment on is the manga of Four Swords is really good

    It was more so known for having an unnecessarily high barrier to entry to play multiplayer in the first place. It was rare when I could get friends with gba’s and also their own GCN to GBA cable so my childhood play through was completely single player.

      @@Slater2113 I was lucky enough to get one playthrough each way as a kid when the game first released, so I have that point of comparison, but all subsequent revisits have been single player and I never really miss the multiplayer experience.

    Man I need to get into this franchise.
    I stuck on the ice dungeon from Link to The Past and I stuck there ;-;

      @@ghosty2548 Lol the ice dungeons tend to be a bit of a pain. If you want to ease yourself in a bit more though, the games broadly got a little easier as they went on imo, so maybe try jumping into a later title instead of starting all the way back at ALttP :)

      Link to the Past is definitely my favorite top-down entry. Perhaps put this one down and try a 3D entry. Or if you really like the current format and want a more casual experience, A Link Between Worlds is based on Link to the Past. ^_^

      I’ve personally always had very mixed feelings about the Ice Palace, in fact the ice physics never really bothered and I found most of the rooms decently fun. If anything my only complaints with the palace itself are its overall length and the somewhat more complicated path to reach the bottom in the GBA (which is the only version that I ever played and the first game in the franchise that I ever played). I’ll personally take the Ice Palace over Thieves Town Turtle Rock any day of the week never tolerated the Dark World forest maze either even if I personally never struggled Mothula), but none of the dungeons will ever top Misery Mire in my book. And my most recent playthrough kinda started this strange little obsession with self imposed green tunic playthroughs in every 2D Zelda game, where I basically every last collectible and dungeon item except for the red and blue males (not that I have anything against them). And in retrospect, I really ADORED how the green tunic kinda complemented the green hilt of the level four “butter” sword while gold blade matches the Mirr Shield (then again the level four sword technically always matches the the gold hew of the Mirror Shield in that regardless of which colored tunic Link wears). Also your problem with all four Links being green in Minish Cap is exactly how I about all four Yoshis being green in the multiplayer in all versions of New Super Mario Bros U (and personally think it gets way too much hate since I’ve always had quite the soft spot for it).

    I’ve never played this game but I have been curious about it for a long time. It would’ve been nice if you talked more about the core gameplay and combat. How do the formations differ from each other and are all of them useful in certain situations? Is there some kind of scoring system for getting more gems? I think there is a lot of potential with these combat mechanics.

      Yeah, so for various reasons I didn't go full review mode in this one, but I'm happy to answer your questions! There are 4 formations: Box, Wide, Long, and Cross, and yes they are intended to be used in different circumstances (although all 4 are always available at your discretion). Box is often used to lift heavy objects as well as provide a little extra DPS in a compact stance that minimizes your own hitbox somewhat. Cross is used to defend yourself from all sides and send attacks in 4 directions at once. Wide and Long are the same thing, just oriented horizontally and vertically respectively, and they're mostly used to either push large objects or assault large waves of enemies at once.
      The game's core structure is similar to something like Triforce Heroes in-that it's a linear, stage-based Zelda game. So it feels authentic to classic Zelda in terms of combat and puzzles, but you don't explore an open Hyrule, and progression through the game is completely linear. Some individual stages have some backtracking, like certain temples for example, but many are kind of point A to point B. The game also has an interesting Dark World mechanic, but it works completely differently from ALttP's Dark World: Instead of exploring an entire alternate map, some individual screens have a Dark World where you become a shadow in the Light World while you're in it, and can interact with some objects in the Light World from that position, and in some cases navigate across obstacles that only exist in the Light World.
      Force Gems only offer a scoring system in the multiplayer mode as part of the competitive element, but broadly speaking they're collected via exploration and certain larger combat encounters. Their only gameplay purpose is to allow you to break the barrier at the end of each stage though. At the start of every stage, the Four Sword is "empty." You need to collect 2000 Force Gems by the end of the stage, but once you reach your quota, the Four Sword gets powered up and gains the ability to shoot sword beams and perform the great spin attack (the one from Wind Waker) until the end of the stage. All stages have well over 2000 gems, both to provide you with a buffer, but also to provide extra for the multiplayer gem score component.
      Hope that helps! Again, I don't think FSA is the best in the series by a long shot, but it's still a damn fun time for any top-down Zelda fan who wants to experience something new and can stomach stage-based progression in a spinoff entry.

      @@ThrillingDuck Thanks for the response! It is definitely a cool looking game and a more linear and combat-focused spin-off Zelda game sounds like an exciting idea. I think the combat in most Zelda games is too simple and easy, but this type of game could really ramp up the difficulty and experiment with a more ”arcade”-like structure.

    I've played this game single player, multiplayer all the way with two people and for a short time with three people. More than two people, especially with new players, really does change with how terrain seems to be made for helping guide others through levels.
    Personally I think Four Swords Adventures is far more friendly and fun than Tri Force Heroes in that respect which could lean on aggravating. But I do like both modes and FSA has by far has the best single player mode of the multiplayer Zeldas. (Getting the hero's keys in FS is an incredibly more tedious grind in single player)
