Hats of to the men and women who do this for real and Matrix. Anytime in DCS when I loose visual awareness in clouds or the classic is the ocean the sky or somewhere not advisable to smack into at high velocity? it doesn't usually end well. See Aircraft Disasters on the TV for many an example of professional pilots in extreme lo viz trusting their senses rather than their instruments.
Great tutorial, I love the new fog system together with rain and thunderstorms. Gives me afeeling like readinbg Dan Cooper comis when I was much younger.
These conditions were Cat 1 - 550 metres RVR. I could do another in Cat 3B (75 metres RVR), but would require autoland capability. So not for the F-15E as in DCS, but OK for the F/A-18 on the carrier.
You might not want to risk your life with a Cat 3, however when the met man gets it all wrong and it’s LVP,s everywhere it can save your life, remember the aircraft has no idea what the RVR is
Been doing a LOT of ILS practice in every plane (it's fun in the hornet as it needs the course line from a waypoint of course[ground landing, not carrier with it's ACLS) I am used to the view you showed in the old cap video of fog so weird you can't make out the ground even when landed. I've been using the bandit weather mod- which drastically enhances DCS's weather, but if the default weather is getting this good- they're slowly trying to catch up and get to where it is at. Can you do a hornet landing on a runway? You'll need the course line from a waypoint since there's no runway ILS, but it' would probably be a nice update from the old GR video where Cap had to make a massive swerve at touchdown. (doing hornet landings at mount pleasant is really dependent on setting that courseline as a localizer substitute, as the tacan beacon is off to the side of the runway so if you follow it all the way in you end up landing on the grass to the side of the runway you can't see really, and then coasting towards the tacan beacon structure unfortunately) Props to Matrix for some excellent landings work! Funny, i've been doing lots of practice at Mount Pleasant also in fog. I do understand in the real world, unless a plane has a automated landing system(not sure how many do outside of some airliner planes), you're not supposed to go for it in conditions where you can't see the runway even when you land. but DCS's fog is global settings ,so we have to and can't 'divert' to a runway elsewhere- so it's good practice to do full pitch black fog/snowstorm/hunderstorm landings in all the jets.
I might give the F-18 ILS to a land based runway a try using NAV mode, but without autoland I'd be restricted to 550m RVR, or pucker factor decision if less than that. I might also do a F-18 ACLS in 75m RVR, Cat3B minima.
It’s the wind, it’s off to the side as that’s where you’re actually traveling since the cross winds is moving you sideways. You can cage the hud to the center and you’ll see a dashed velocity vector to the side to show you where you’re plane is actually headed while having the full HUD centered in the middle
Thank you Matrix. Always appreciate you sir.
I was groundcrew for 22 years so nice to see the lineys out there actually doing their job.

I was stunned with the auto landing on the carrier with the F18, very well done. An ILS is one thing but a complete TACAN and ILS, very impressive.
Matrix! That was soooo smooooth!!! Superb tutorial!!!
Matrix killing it as usual! Well done, sir!

Excellent job Matrix 👍
Thankyou matrix! I’ve been learning the F15C and this was very helpful indeed 🎉
I learned theF15 at last weeks i hope itgets updates😊
Appreciated as always Matrix.
Thank you.
you could say, they're in the thick of it
ok the hornet landing on the carrier automatically in no visibility is one of mankind's coolest achievements.
Smashing. Let Sir George do the heavy lifting. CRM.
Great content as always!
You should seriously record some satnav narration Matrix...including the "BOLLOCKS!" when taking a wrong turn...
Hmmmm, tempting.
well done...butter
Woo hoo it's the shipping forecast
lol
@@grimreapers it was a lot calmer and calming than your vid of it cap 😏🤣🤣
It’s a shame what happened with Razbam. I hope we get some transparency from ED in the future and the strike eagle gets the updates it sorely needs.
Just missing the "Full power and eject" at the end.
I'd never want to risk my life in a CAT 3 landing situation. Where's the autopilot?

This is my EXACT 'tism

good work, and f16?
Why is the HUD ladder and ILS cross 5 degrees off to the right?
That would bug the hell out of me.
He has a crosswind

Is the F15E worth buying? again.. I had it but got my money back.
It's not changed since you last had it.
Put your youtube in dark mode you monster! :P
Where is your video about Chinese 6th gen fighters? Can you model that in DCS?
I'm sure there's someone out there right now crafting a mod or two.
Chinese 6th gen doesn't exist in reality 😂 so it can't be copied?
first
I turned this video on to my mom and now she wants to be a blogger too. Looks like we have a family project💞
Let's be honest, "Netflix and Chill" should be followed by "HBO Max and Massage My Feet.😻
If laughter was currency, I'd be a millionaire after this video. Does anyone know how to monetize laughter🍒
