True. As a Alphatauri fan that saw every race from their POV I can also say that yuki was robbed from a lot of points duo to bad strategy, much more than gasly. You can look at the last race of the year, yuki could have finished in front of stroll and allow alphatauri to finish 8th but they messed his pit-stop (which put yuki behind stroll) and then decided to give him softs for the last 20+ laps even though they had given pierre softs for fewer laps and the dropoff was immense

De Vries should definitely not be treated like a normal rookie. He‘s got a lot of experience in FE and also in F1 and is already 28. It would be disappointing for him if he doesn’t beat Yuki
I think Yuki being "honest" aka genuine is one of his biggest assets actually. F1 is ultimately an entertainment product. It's a story, and it needs interesting characters whom the fans can root for, and nobody delivers that better than Yuki. I hope he's able to get serious but without having to become a "politician" / robot with the media like so many other drivers. Take Max for example. I loved him when he was an upstart and a hothead, but now he just "says the right things" and wins consistently, and it's like, I'm just not interested in this story anymore.
I see what you are saying but I think you have this a little twisted. First Yuki might have a personality that fans enjoy but it's no different than Danny Ric, you have to still be scoring points and driving at your best. No excuses. Overall I would say most the F1 drivers are ruthlessly honest and genuine, not just Yuki. As for Max, he has nothing to win by giving media more stories or more sound bites, he's a professional and is going to do his talking on track, and it makes it easier to do his job each weekend when he isn't creating more drama off the track. The most exhausting part for these drivers on top of the insane schedule and time changes when they travel is all the media stuff they got to do. So I don't think its about being a robot or politician as much as it is focusing at the real task at hand. Yuki came into F1 as this video mentioned with little to no expectations behind Gasly. They know Yuki is fast and aggressive but he's yet to be consistent and smooth. And the latter is what you need if you are already a fast driver.
I'm a big fan of Nyck De Vries he's a very level headed guy, very business like and he's proven he's not a quitter after waiting for years to finally get his chance in F1. I fully expect him to come in all guns blazing and to make an impression as soon as Bahrain testing. For Yuki it's definitely a mental game for him, he can be easily flustered when in the car and loses his temper at the drop of at hat, so with him up against a typically calm and collected De Vries, it's going to be very interesting to watch these two this season!
I don't mind him beating Yuki or losing. As long as their performances are at an acceptable. It doesn't have to be like Pierre was in 2021 but they have to be doing what is expected, consistently. There may well be a problem of not knowing where the car is performancewise though.
I think his generation, with Mick included, was really unlucky. They came into F1 in the last year of development for that car, and pitted against the generation of the likes of Norris who had more time to grow into that kinds of car. After a year, not only were they unable to adapt in F1, a new type of car was already introduced. Basically, their first year of adapting to the first car was almost wasted. So, yeah, I guess, you can say that Yuki and Mick deserve to have a 2nd year in this current car format. Especially for alphatauri, if they keep Yuki a bit longer, they can find a reliable driver in him. I wouldn't advise Yuki to jump into that 2nd seat at red bull. That place is pressure burner.
If I had to guess who's going to be out during Silly Season for '23, my bet would be Yuki. Then you add Iwasa in the mix...I mean, they're all smelling the blood in the water, so it's sink or swim for Yuki, and I sure hope he swims.
What ended Ricciardo's period in F1 was his sequence of bad decisions. Once the rumors of him leaving F1 started pilling at the end of the season, he openly refused a seat offer from Haas citing other reasons when it's clear he did so because Haas is a smaller team and they probably wouldn't pay him what he earned at McLaren. He better think well about what he's done in his current PR position in Red Bull because he will never drive one again.

Dude, your negative branding of Yuki seems quite disproportionate... Branding the Silverstone incident as "Classic Yuki?" - How many laps did he hold up Hamilton in Spa 2021? He's had P4s in Abhu Dhabi in his rookie year - and he's had solid races ruined by things out of his control in 2022. The intent is obvious - saying that you love Japanese car culture, doesn't hide your intentions. Both drove so smoothly that they didn't look as fast as others like Schumacher and Hamilton, yet they were much faster than they looked. It would be good to have a video on him, though.
@@y_fam_goeglyd IKR, everybody talks about Mclaren Kimi, the whole late 2000s - early 2010s, people bring up Massa & Nico more than Jenson. I haven't seen many of his races but seems like a solid resume
Button was very good but not one of the greats. He looked great in 2004 but never really had a championship chance until 2009, which he took. People thought he'd be smashed by Hamilton at Merc and whilst he wasn't as quick in terms of raw speed, thanks to a great and consistent 2011 he actually scored more points than Hamilton during their time together (2010-12) and then kept Alonso very honest in the disastrous 2015 McLaren too.
He's been having so many things work against him. 1) Car has been polar opposite to his preferences with no chance of improving it. 2) Spent majority of his first season under lock down not able to visit the factory. 3) Rushed through the junior series in a foreign land with ZERO mentors or support in his corner. These are all things RedBull has been trying to address. Getting him a place near the factory. Getting him a personal trainer. Getting Tost to oversee his schedule. Getting Albon to coach him. Getting him in touch with Taka in MotoGP. This is all stuff some drivers had even during the Junior series. Yuki only started to get this last year. This year, I HOPE they switched the balance of that car and I hope Yuki's talent wasn't dulled after spending 2 years in that understeering boat. I really hope we get to see some of that talent this year and the fruits of all the support they put behind him.
He’s 100% not keeping that seat if he doesn’t beat De Vries, but he’s not getting any higher any time soon if he doesn’t do much more than that Edit: actually he’s not getting any F1 seat if De Vries beats him
We need an update. Nyck is pretty much the guy who’s in danger this season. Shouldn’t have underestimated the rough gem that franz and helmut marko recognized.
All I can say is that I saw the same potential as RedBull saw in his Formula 2 season. That year he was amazing all around. Although it may be true that he went too soon to F1.
A lot of it is coming back to this car. Gasly and Yuki have polar opposite preferences in car direction... Gasly failed in RB because that car is polar opposite to what he wants. Yuki has been dealing with it for 2 years now... Now we have to see if Alpha Tauri is willing to lean that car towards Yuki's oversteer preference and see if he can still make it dance after spending 2 years getting used to a heavily understeer biased car. My biggest fear is he lost that edge after not being able to practice it for so long.
All the drivers have been preparing for F1 most of their lives. I agree that Nyck will, likely, beat Yuki this season. People keep saying how good Yuki _is/can be_ and how much potential he has. But we've heard this before about other drivers (right, Mr. Hulkenberg) and they don't always meet expectations. That being said, I like Yuki and hope both he and Nyck have good seasons.
He did much better last year for sure and made less mistakes he just needs to keep on that trend and really iron out his occasional mistakes. Let’s see how this year does I think he will take another step forward
@@Tierraje that's why honesty requires balls , if you cant stand behind yourself and crumble at each criticism you cant be honest at all , and that why people spin up narratives
I'm not gonna lie I just wanna see Liam Lawson in that seat, kid is fast. Obviously a bit biased toward my own countryman though, tough because I like Yuki too
To be honest I think sports car racing is the future for Yuki. Being in a series like WEC or IMSA would help him grow, learning from the senior drivers in his team. Would love to see him driving the Acura.
@@JThomasP51 He's not blindingly fast. Even on an excellent day for him he might put a few tenths over Gasly, which is hardly enough to prove you can compete with the likes of Verstappen, Leclerc, etc. Remember back to 2019 when Max was putting like a second on Gasly every weekend
I do not expect him to stay for a very long time when he will be beaten by Nyck in 2023. I have to say that Yuki made improvements when he got a personal coach in Albon
I mean, he is training really hard with Daniel Ricciardo’s physio. If that doesn’t put him in the right mindset and physical condition then it ain’t working
If Yuki beats De Vries then I think that's more than enough. Geez people under-rate De Vries and he is going to be so motivated finally getting a chance in F1 at 28.
A sort of pivotal point for Yuki happened when it was publicly announced he was going to a sports psychologist. Since that event, his performance plummeted. He started getting himself into weird collisions with other drivers, spinning them off track and racking penalty points along the season to the point of being the driver with the most amount of them. Who knows what happened behind the curtains in the meantime.
He did nothing to actually retain his place in F1 for 2022 or 2023. He was completely saved by the black hole in the RB Academy for the last couple of years. Looking at their F2 line-up this year, I don't think he'll be so lucky again. Marko clearly has a soft spot for him, but I don't think RB in general are too impressed with him. A good measure of where a driver is at, is whether another team would take them if they were available. And no team is taking him if he becomes available that's for sure
I think this will be Yuki's last year in F1. His lack of self control, he is way to much of a hot head, and that is really hard to turn off, even if they give him a good car. If he can't just hands down dominate Nyck, Marko will be showing him the door, maybe before the end of the season.
The information coming from Honda is confusing ... are they staying or leaving? Think the F1 future of Yuki is very linked with Honda ... seems like a package deal. Both stay or both leave ...
I doubt the AlphaTauri will produce a car that is capable of a podium, expecially since they are going to take LESS Red Bull parts than last year, never mind that they have clowns running the strategy. So if AlphaTauri get a top 5 this year, I will fast for a week.
Podiums aren't really necessary especially if the car's a tractor. Seb despite outperforming his car for most of the 2022 season couldn't get a single podium. What matters the most is consistency. I definitely agree with the driver error part
Calling Nyck a "rookie" is technically correct, but honestly it's just misleading to those less informed because he has far more experience than any rookie that's touched the grid in the past 5 years. Speculating that he will struggle like other true rookies is a little close minded.
This video could've been 4 mins long. How can you say the phrase, "beating Nyck de Vries won't be enough" like 12 times in the same video? I like your content man. But you can definitely keep it brief.
He was thrown in the deep end and even if he had the skills, I don't think the mental and emotional maturity was there. This year will definitely be make or break I think.
atm pretty much still unlucky with P11 streak, AT itself pretty much the worst team on the grid, ironically being sister team of the best team on the grid, maybe they should sell the team to people like lawrence stroll to make driver like Yuki looks slightly better
@@emanuelsosa8 yes, but, according to the internet, it wasn't a particularly impressive season, I wouldn't know though, Formula E is too boring for me¹, and the idea of FanBoost is so pathetic (even if, supposedly it doesn't really do much) that it really turns me off for it. ¹If the city/state/whoeverthef*ckisresponsibleforitinthearea doesn't want to build a good public transport infrastructure², I'm all for electric cars (though hybrid electric/gas cars are actually the ideal format for the transition period, imho), but Formula E is just not exciting enough. IMHO - Yuki is on the spectrum (Asperger’s) - this explains the way he communicates - and can also mean he has the capacity to bring genius level insight and functioning to his driving……
Yuki needs to realise Nyck is not here to be his friend. Nyck is here to destroy him, embarrass him and ruin Yuki’s career. Yuki needs to gain some serious maturity and ruthlessness to survive F1 this year.
He talked only about food and games in his 1st year. He started to talk a bit about F1 in the second half of the season last year. Now, good news. He talks a lot about F1 this year!!!
I really like Yuki but I just can't see him making a big enough step forward for 2023. If he doesn't get replaced mid-season, then he surely won't be around for 2024. It's hard to say if Daniel will still want a full year of not racing if that Alpha Tauri seat becomes available halfway through, but just the thought of him going to that team is WILD.
"In just his 5th year of racing cars"... I know Max is a once in a lifetime talent, but he did the same in his 2nd year. I'm obviously not saying Yuki has to be the level of Max. But there's no point in waxing lyrical about a 'meteoric rise' that is not even meteoric by F1 standards. An overhyped driver by almost everyone, and I'm hearing rumours that he's still at the Hungaroring doing doughnuts on lap 35
14th and 17th in the standings in his career. Only ever beaten Alfa Romeos, Williams, and the finished 2021 Haas I never understood where the hype was coming from, behind Stroll in a clearly faster car in his rookie season, and cost AT positions in the constructors both seasons he was there
The thing I never liked about Yuki was his communication with the pits. Statements like "shut up and let me drive" isn't how you talk to the person trying to help you. Have other drivers made statements like that? Sure. But those guys weren't crashing cars every other race. I agree with the statements below saying it was too soon for him to enter F1. Too immature.
daniel ricciardo will probably slip into AT with a contract clause to ensure checo stays in line with max or he gets booted and daniel moves back to RB
I think Yuki has too much potential for Rb to just sort him out. If he drives decent this year and matures a bit he will stay in my opinion. Max did a lot of stupid stuff in his first few years aswell. Just throwing Yuki in the bin with his 2 year experience and gambling on another Rookie doesn't seem likely to me.
Something tells me Yuki was a Honda favor… Them wanting a Japanese Driver.. Because really he’s never done anything to impress and if he has I dont remember it…. I can remember more blunders then anything

@@y_fam_goeglyd IKR, everybody talks about Mclaren Kimi, the whole late 2000s - early 2010s, people bring up Massa & Nico more than Jenson. I haven't seen many of his races but seems like a solid resume
Button was mid, thats all.
This is a dope thumbnail
Yuki is a diamond in the rough but he's no longer a rookie, it's do or die now
Yuki isn't beating Nyck, Yuki is massacring him!
All my brothers love Tsunoda, hope he gets it all
He’s 100% not keeping that seat if he doesn’t beat De Vries, but he’s not getting any higher any time soon if he doesn’t do much more than that
Edit: actually he’s not getting any F1 seat if De Vries beats him
update? debris out again dead last, maybe its debris who will not get any f1 seat since he didnt deserve one in the first place
this aged like milk😂
Yuki should have spent another year in F2.
@telegremmeAldas11fax
Too late. He's spent 2years in F1 already...
Still waiting for the Yuki's anime moment, hope this season he got the amount of flashback in his life.
i think nyck will beat yuki, hes prepared most of his life for this and is super adaptable
@@aberamagold7509 but Nyck has experience in multiple race cars.
He did much better last year for sure and made less mistakes he just needs to keep on that trend and really iron out his occasional mistakes. Let’s see how this year does I think he will take another step forward
verstappen was also crashtappen at the beginning, RB is still waiting his raw speed
No such thing as too honest aldas. Everyone should be like that. Fuck narratives
I agree to a point. When you’re honest sometimes you get torn apart. That can become exhausting and get you down.
@@Tierraje that's why honesty requires balls , if you cant stand behind yourself and crumble at each criticism you cant be honest at all , and that why people spin up narratives
I'm not gonna lie I just wanna see Liam Lawson in that seat, kid is fast. Obviously a bit biased toward my own countryman though, tough because I like Yuki too
Who watched this during 2023 and saw Yuki perform like a top team driver?
Look at the mess we are in Alpha Tauri right now
To be honest I think sports car racing is the future for Yuki. Being in a series like WEC or IMSA would help him grow, learning from the senior drivers in his team. Would love to see him driving the Acura.
I think this kid could be like a modern Juan Pablo Montoya if he reaches his full potential
That's very ambitious looking at his performances atm
@@cat_mrks He’s aggressive, brave and blindingly fast when he brings his A game. But yes he has a lot of work to do, needs a lot of refinement.
So he will end up slightly overweight as a NASCAR driver?
He's so frustrating 😤 he's really got that star quality we just seen it in glimpses.
Consistency is important 👌
I do not expect him to stay for a very long time when he will be beaten by Nyck in 2023. I have to say that Yuki made improvements when he got a personal coach in Albon
I mean, he is training really hard with Daniel Ricciardo’s physio. If that doesn’t put him in the right mindset and physical condition then it ain’t working
If Yuki beats De Vries then I think that's more than enough. Geez people under-rate De Vries and he is going to be so motivated finally getting a chance in F1 at 28.
The Honda partnership was a saving grace for the underperforming Tsunoda, with them gone he’s done for with just another mediocre season.
Hope Yuki steps up to the challenge.
Talent is there, but the mental game has to step it up this year. I don’t know how they’ve put up with it unless it’s all about the money behind him.
Yuki has that shonen mentality.
De Vries is 28!?! 💀
Last Chance to look at me Hector.
Lets be real; the chances of him topping Nick are very slim.
Facts
Lmao gtfoh , nyck's days are numbered
@@DavidGarcia-oi5nt Yuki scored 12 points all year. Devries scored 2 points in 1 race in a Williams shitbox. Reality is a bitch.
i hope you're right, i hate Yuki
@@Lora_Beolab I dont hate him, in fact I like the kid. But if youre below the cut, youre below the cut.
this might defo b his last chance to prove himself.
My lil speedy boi
Pascal Wehrlein belongs back in F1
I think this will be Yuki's last year in F1. His lack of self control, he is way to much of a hot head, and that is really hard to turn off, even if they give him a good car.
If he can't just hands down dominate Nyck, Marko will be showing him the door, maybe before the end of the season.
unfortunately I expect this to be his last season
He will be cursing th out of all his engineers by race 3
I love this boy but he has better chances in endurance racing...I'm sure Acura would welcome him with open arms in IMSA
I thought he drove very well in 2022 but the it seemed like the AT caught fire or stopped running like it had a Renault engine
The information coming from Honda is confusing ... are they staying or leaving? Think the F1 future of Yuki is very linked with Honda ... seems like a package deal. Both stay or both leave ...
Wait what? His fifth year of racing cars?
He needs two podiums and only one dnf due to driver error. Anything less is grounds for release.
Willing to get he won’t beat him. Danny Rick is gonna slip into that spot is my bet for 2024
The likelihood of Daniel getting another seat is next to none.
Yuki was better than gasly in 2022. You should not be racist
Guess de Vries will make place for team Japan
time to pray for Honda to buy AlphaTauri, if the team is indeed for sale
Yuki is the Japanese kimi
funny to see how many coments aged like milk Lmao
Well..let's see ya...
They may have stuck with Tsunoda due to the Japanese market potential.
Yuki must toward to beat Max that this season will be first step. If it is not so that Yuki will be drop out from F1. I agree wiht you. Go Yuki!
This video could've been 4 mins long. How can you say the phrase, "beating Nyck de Vries won't be enough" like 12 times in the same video?
I like your content man. But you can definitely keep it brief.
I woudnt judge him too hard, his driving style is so different from Gasly. He seems so much more planted last race
He was thrown in the deep end and even if he had the skills, I don't think the mental and emotional maturity was there. This year will definitely be make or break I think.
Yuki would have to destroy Nyck to keep his seat, just beating him might not be enough.
To me, Yuki kinda compares to Stroll, as in inconsistent but very high peaks. He overtook a friggin Mercedes in the last race of 2021
At least Yuki actually legitimately earned his drive
atm pretty much still unlucky with P11 streak, AT itself pretty much the worst team on the grid, ironically being sister team of the best team on the grid, maybe they should sell the team to people like lawrence stroll to make driver like Yuki looks slightly better
we can sleep soundly tonight
he got a point now
i have a feeling that debris will most likely score more than yuki this year
I think de vries will beat him what de vries did with Williams in that one race last year was very impressive
it was really impressive. however de vries formula e season was not impressive at all. i really dont know who will beat who
@@funnybunny1648 he was the formula e champion
This comes from someone who's borderline a hater of cars though, I only really like Formula One (and WEC, weirdly enough, but I don't watch much of it), though I enjoy watching the F1 feeder series (all the way down to F4) to see the future talent and how I think they'll fare once they get to F1.

IMHO - Yuki is on the spectrum (Asperger’s) - this explains the way he communicates - and can also mean he has the capacity to bring genius level insight and functioning to his driving……
君たちは何を見ていたのかな?目がついてなかったのかな?
Yuki needs to realise Nyck is not here to be his friend. Nyck is here to destroy him, embarrass him and ruin Yuki’s career.
Yuki needs to gain some serious maturity and ruthlessness to survive F1 this year.
He talked only about food and games in his 1st year. He started to talk a bit about F1 in the second half of the season last year.
Now, good news. He talks a lot about F1 this year!!!
Nyck looked much weaker than Yuki in the first race. We will see, but he didn't look like he is here to destroy him.
I anticipate De Vries will out-score Tsunoda
Yuki = Honda, and thats ending.
14th and 17th in the standings in his career. Only ever beaten Alfa Romeos, Williams, and the finished 2021 Haas
I never understood where the hype was coming from, behind Stroll in a clearly faster car in his rookie season, and cost AT positions in the constructors both seasons he was there
saigo no chanzu
AAAAA STOP SAYING THAT NYCK IS A ROOOOOKKIE
He is tho
If drivers such as Hauger or Maloney impress massively in F2, Yuki is at serious risk.
Y’all don’t think Honda has anything to do with tsunoda having a drive still
Typically Yuki. 😂 Silverstone.
Yuki will be out at the end of the season. But who'll replace him, though? My money is on Lawson.
or one of the ninety billion red bull juniors in f2 if lawson doesn't adapt quickly to superformula
Stoffel Vandoorne will replace him
daniel ricciardo will probably slip into AT with a contract clause to ensure checo stays in line with max or he gets booted and daniel moves back to RB
Finishing 4th in 2021 Abu Dhabi?
I'm surprised by how some youtubers (over)rate Tsunoda and underestimate De Vries
As things stand, De Vries will probably beat Yuki
De Vries should have been in F1 at least 2 years earlier
