    I started welding 41 years ago. The inverter machines are great, especially for the price. No such thing as inexpensive welder back then. I looked at the AHP and primeweld. I went with the primeweld, mainly for the warranty, i simply didn't trust them unless they miller or lincoln . Machine hasnt missed a beat or left me disappointed. My shield was an inexpensive Jackson, with a nice auto lens. Get a tig finger, you don't want to breath those fibers, even a little. Those fibers add up over time. I carry an oxygen tank, get a new one.

    I've picked up a primeweld Tig 225x in 2020 and it is my second machine started with a $200 cheap mig with lift tig. My primeweld was a great purchase at $800 and been flawless for the last 3 years and it paid for it self with the first job with it. Far as argon goes I have a 330 cu.ft tank that I rented from the local welding shop. At $365 in 2020 and I exchanged it for $69 once a month. With the rental they gave me half of the deposit back to me once I hit 3 yr mark. I'm like you I didn't think my tig machine was going to kick ass as much as its been doing and I have not been easy on it at all running it 8-14 hrs a day. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

      That’s one hell of a testimonial! Glad to hear that it’s been great for you, I got so many questions about that machine that I couldn’t answer for sure so I’m glad you weighed in on it here.
      What type of jobs do you do with it?

      @@greasesgarage I do anything that need to be fabricated, turbo systems, titanium exhaust, mower deck repair, trailer repair, sanitary welding, etc etc don't do any pipeline or structural. Would like to see if I can weld up inconel I've heard that it difficult to get it done right. It's turned in to something that I didn't expect to be doing.

      That’s awesome man! Whole lot of variety in that lineup, that’s a great skill set to have. Pipefitters at my site have been doing a ton of inconel they say that after doing it for a few days you get the hang of it.

    One small tip, an air nozzle will get the magnets cleaned off really easy. Just watch your eyes!

    Ok I just got the latest alpha tig 203 xi and wondering did you run it off 110 or 220. I called them and asked and they said if I do 110 to have a 50. Amp circuit. Just wondering what you use? Either way I have to run power to my garage that is good for this. Thanks!

    • @greasesgarage
      @greasesgarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey Casey, I’ve run mine off 110 and though I could be totally wrong I believe they told you the reverse. My 240v wiring was a 50amp circuit off my panel where my 110v definitely isn’t. It’s probably a 20amp and it handled it just fine

    • @caseycarey5445
      @caseycarey5445 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@greasesgarage very cool thank you. I’m gonna try 110 20 amp because I have that in the garage. Yeah they told me some numbers backwards lol but I’m excited to set this thing up today and try it out. I’m going to be doing a floating rear fender on the swing arm and most likely going to have to make my own pipes. So I’m glad I ordered this. I was contemplating spending lots of money wiring the garage up 220 thinking it’s possible I would get much better welds using 220 but if I don’t have to and it works just fine with 110 that definitely helps me

      @greasesgarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@caseycarey5445 yours is newer than mine but I believe I can pull 150 amps off a 110 circuit with mine. That’s plenty for most motorcycle frame jobs especially exhaust

    Do (should) you need to know mig or stick before you start Tig?

    • @greasesgarage
      @greasesgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely do not need to learn either before starting with TIG. Many of the things we use TIG for would never be welded with stick or mig anyways.
      That being said, learning stick or mig later on could be helpful for other types of projects.
