Just Booked my Luxe Beige Baleno Alpha Manual today...90 days waiting....anyways wish me luck .....my first ever car....but i also love i20....both are fab cars....and right now, the prices between baleno and i20 are almost identical.... infact if you ask me, i20 is more VFM....for same price it is giving you a bigger touchscreen, Bose Sound system compared to Arkamys....a sunroof.....yes Baleno has a 360 cam and a HUD..but I would prefer the feature list of i20.... it's just that where I live the maruti network is much stronger and the workshop and this dealership is next door and also a friend of mine had an i20 elite and she told me her ownership experience was subpar in terms of reliability of the car...so i choose baleno...and also in this Luxe Beige colour, the Baleno just looks top notch..even better than i20 imho.... but of course looks are subjective....I agree with most of your points..I test road both of them for over 10 kms...multiple times....before making a choice...the tractability of baleno's engine is much better than i20...in terms of Naturally Aspirated options...i20 does have better high speed stability and brakes...but in terms of space, i20 is more spacious, sure the boot is a little smaller, but the rear seat space is unmatched, even putting some sub compact SUVs to shame... i20 also has a lot of creature comforts such as wireless charger, air purifier and the list goes on....Baleno does have slightly better seats... it's almost inseparable, like king kong vs godzilla.... anyways both are fantastic cars, anyone will be happy with either...and both are evenly priced as well with good dealer/service network and very acceptable ownership costs...i20 was released in 2019, maybe it is due for a minor update...
Both cannot be called the pillars of safety for the segment or anything but the better of the two is the i20 without a single shred of doubt. The build quality difference between the two cars is very significant.
As usual no one mentioned about... ir 70% transparent side windows in baleno. In i20, plain transparent side glasses & putting sunfilm is 100 percent illegal and fineable offense.
The I20 has better overall comfort, top of the line features and is so comfortable and fun to drive. Baleno has segment leading features like the heads up display, but the build quality of a Hyundai is superior to that of MS.

If you remember Baleno has come from a sedan segment... so its more premium in its hatchback stance now. Anyways Baleno has a bigger body compared to i20. i20 looks small car.

May be good if you are upgrading from Alto K10(sold around 2011-12) model. It would feel bigger Alto K10 with a lot of features which would no doubt enhance your experience but I would advise to look for options like i20 & Altroz before making decision. I own Alto K10 2011 and for next car went for Nexon while breeza and venue were in my list. I chose tata because at price higher than 8-10 lacs customer would not just want product features but also experience of owning premium quality cars. Thats why I advised for looking to all the alternatives in showrooms and choose
Suzuki sells Indian cars more focused on mileage while takes a hit on build quality & safety so they aren't giving much importance to NCAP ratings. While Tata was/is trying to position itself at quite a higher brand value level(which I think it is going very well) and position itself in international level so they voluntarily go for NCAP. I own both of them so made a conclusion based on that

honestly the most misleading reveiw from you guys ..... i mean seriously the 1.2 and baleno are more or less evenly priced and for the price of baleno 5mt alpha you can get a hyundai i20 sportz diesel which is twice more efficient than ms and offers same level of kit ....... that diesel drivetrain dynamics are a league above the new baleno ive booked the 2022 i20 sportz variant after test driving the baleno and i20 back to back for 2 weeks the baleno brakes are spongy and the engine lacks whoomph both on the city and on highway similar case with i20 1.2 but i20 diesel is smooth in the city and a monster on the highway baleno :- city :-13-16 (surprising ) 13 is the worst , highway :- 14kmpl (that too lame driving this car dies above 100kmph no confidence for sudden overtakes) best for city if you are just a commuter i20 :- diesel :- 15-19 kmpl (expected better .....) highway :- 22kmpl (easily speeds above 120 for 137 km trip) car fully loaded 5 passengers and boot full of luggage the baleno is skidding left and right during hard braking ... need to know if other owners are facing this issue or not ... and the i20 is getting chirp noises from speakers and some plastic panels ....both suck at build quality infact i20 ages more over time than the Baleno hope this helps the k series models are ridiculously overpriced now a days people kindly update to the diesel the savings it gives more than justifies its tag I know the i20 is not the best but compared to the segment until i20 Sportz the model is best but for the price of asta o i think you can extend your budget and get enthusiast cars like the city or virtus which is way beyond my budget instead of i20 asta 0 diesel or petrol turbo for 13.5 lakhs i suggest you go with honda city for 16 lakhs the car is a gem but i am getting a diesel refined decently specced car for 11 lakhs so for 11 lakhs i20 sportz is hand down the best even for a enthusiastic driver kindly note this mileage figures in city are not during peak timings in hyderabad the worst i got is when i have my office at 10-6 time interval and remaining time mostly its smooth moving traffic the i20 showed min 20-25 during traffic in real time mileage but as per tank fillings its less than that but on highway the i20 gave min 18kmpl when ridden well above legal speeds with full load the dealer quotation for i20 diesel sportz is 11.5 on road which includes all alloy wheels package and some seat covers compared with 2021 the 2022 has cruise control and auto ac as standard now so now the price tag is even more justified a push button stop start is the only reason the sportz variant needs to up its game and atleast basic halogen projectors would have been a nice deal for budget buyers for the sportz variant even more honest verdict my dad brezza 2018 model is gold compared to any car even today under 13 lakhs

And the petrol is also not a deal breaker as such, it's a smooth motor and i think it's meant to be driven calmly and has decent power when you need it

Baleno's pickup is better only because it is lighter. If pickup is your 1st priority then go for Baleno. If features and build quality (not gncap rating) is your priority, then go for i20.
I love how the new baleno looks, it has a premium sedan look. I20 looks like a kid designed it but the interior on i20 is much better. Can we get the best of both worlds?

Whereas Baleno has only naturally aspirated petrol engines. Its exterior is quite attractive and it has a good road presence. The new Baleno with more safety features and technology seems a better choice. For just a better build quality one has to pay almost one lakh rupees more. Mileage as always is the strongest point of Maruti. It offers unmatched mileage and technology right from the base model. The Baleno base model has all required features and technology. Buyers like it because it offers all good features for comparatively lesser prices. Refinement and comfort are of the next level. People will certainly prefer the Baleno over the i20.
Safety is still a concern in both the cars amd their build qualities are the major drawback in these hatchbacks unlike altroz which gets a really great build quality which is a major plus point
Altroz is good at safety not at build quality. Both aren't same. I case of service and maintenance Suzuki and Hyundai are miles ahead of Tata .Also Altroz is 3 cylinder.😶

Buy an automatic, period. Both of these cars have good/smooth automatics, so you cannot go wrong with either. Disregard the people who say AMT is worse - the technology has improved by a lot (thanks to both MS and Hyundai) and it's just nitpicking.

Why Tata punch recieved instant NCAP rating immediately after its launch, while Baleno NCAP rating test continues to postpone...what is the logic.

If you really worry over safety and build quality, go for tata and mahindra cars. Don't fight over safety in hatchback cars. No point in comparing the two when its build quality is not even an average when comes to life safety. Watch accident videos of both cars.
@@purushothamkumar3300 Both the cars cannot be called the pillars of safety in the segment.... but the better built and more sturdier as well as heavier of the two is the i20 without a single shred of doubt. The build quality difference between the two cars is very significant.... and yes between these 2.... the i20 is definitely the safer car... period!

Also the new Baleno is a bit more sturdier than the previous one. Best i would suggest to go visit the showroom and see for yourself. Then make a choice.
Baleno's 360 camera quality is just average and images are highly distorted. I20's rear camera is more useful actually.

Both of these cars have good/smooth automatics, so you cannot go wrong with either. Disregard the people who say AMT is worse - the technology has improved by a lot (thanks to both MS and Hyundai) and it's just nitpicking.
if you want an automatic go for dct or cvt avoid dsg and amt, amt is jerky and dsg is high maintenance
