Something I forgot to add was that I'd love to see a Macro mode. What would you like to see?
more user friendly software for standard user.
1. Being able to make a single photo with the physical shutter button while you still have burst mode on, just like a half a sec delay for example before it jumps into burst mode ( this way you can easely make a single photo and burst photos with that physical shutter button, would be so handy,
2. seemless zoom also to the selfie camera, so you can just record video with main sensor and while doing so switch so selfie recording, super useful for social media etc.
3. an excemption toggle in the battery save mode for gps/navigation/google maps so the gps stays connected when using these battery save modes when you are strawling around a city or so. so you got good battery life for that.
and there are ofcourse way more small things i would like to see improved but these 3 are the major ones that with my experience with the 5ii and looking at all these reviews/videos etc will improve the sony way better. also just get small led notification back( and a bit brighter i hope than the 5ii) would improve the experience significantly,
@namelesssnitchy good stuff.
@@GroundedTech But you mention some good stuff in your video too. the hdr indeed. To me it seems that the eye autofocus takes up so much power of the gpu and cpu that it turns hdr off and with that you get a lot overexposed pictures etc. maybe give us the posibility for only face auto detection with hdr. the eye autodetection is good in situation when speed is needed for example with cats and dogs etc.
@namelesssnitchy I do love that autofocus.
Yes macro photography 😊
Going to miss 21:9 but still excited for a new Xperia 🔥😎
Same mate same.
funny thing about the one-handedness of the aspect ratio.
Some people were complaining that 21:9 actually harder to use one-handed.
Dunno about those guys, but most of the time my hand tends to stay at the bottom half of the screen and the narrow body is really nice for wrapping my hand around it.
Exactly the same for me. It's a ridiculous complaint to me. Way easier to use one handed than anything else. Xperia 5 even better.
I suggest they should move the audio jack to the right side so gaming will be more convenient using the audio jack!!!
Not a bad suggestion 👍🏻
Software support and battery performance/charging are so critical
Improving those would make such a big difference.
Love my Xperia 5 II, I've bought 3 and repaired 2 of them already
Sony as a brand of phone is amazing, good build quality, easy to repair, unlockable bootloader, stock rom can be downloaded from an official server, there's custom roms to keep the phone alive after official updates stop... Not to mention the expendable storage and headphone jack ! Such good phones
To be fair I don't really like that tall aspect ratio that much, you lose a ton of screen space when watching youtube, or even displaying the pictures you took with thee phone. (don't like the price either for the newer models)
Sounds like the new model should be more to your liking then. Other than the price anyway, but at least the leaks since this video show the price not increasing. Hopefully that's true.
If SONY releases an XPERIA without 21:9, I’m buying last year’s model 🤷♀️
The 1 V is still very good. Let's see how it turns out. I'd prefer 21:9 but if there's a good reason for change I don't mind.
I thought about that too but the 2 years of OS update support makes it so much harder to buy last year's model :(
@SuhasSreehariOnline true. Might be the same again yet.
gestures on the fingerprint sensor would be nice, and a audiophile grade built in native music player with a better DAC
I would love a similar DAC setup to what LG used to have.
@@GroundedTechi agree, it's just that the lg wasn't loud enough like apple and samsung. I still use my V50
@davidchisholm5144 might be down to the headphones/earphones you used with it maybe?
@@GroundedTech used a variety of headphones, but I must admit they sound really good with my senheiser 560s and my denons
i'd love to see a good improvement on the periscope, AND a seperate gallary app as you know... I HATTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE google photos SO DAMN MUCH!!!!!!!!
Every time 🤣
I downloaded Sony Xperia gallery APK.. It works perfectly. 😊
You and me and others both 😂.
There you go Jermaine 😅
whats wrong with Google Photos?
is the USA Xperian 5 V! coming out too?
What about last year's USA model Xperian 5 V that they skipped?
Thank you for the heads up!
Not sure if they're releasing the 5 model in the US anymore tbh. There's always a chance that model gets discontinued.
One of my first and most loved flagship was an Xperia... They are a very specific consumer phone now, and they were even then - you had to know how to use that camera...And you had to know they have good audio. Everything else was not bad, but nothing special, software support was meh, and now I'm not sure it's better. They should not give up on them by any means, but they need to decide what they are making already. Good one Dan, thanks.
Cheers bud. There's a lot I could say in response to that lol
The thing I most agree with you about is the absolutely ridiculous lack of availability of their phones. Sony needs to seriously sort that out. They will NEVER sell more phones unless they start expanding the markets they are available in.
I understand why they reduced the number in the first place. They had to scale back, but now might be time to start expanding a little.
@@GroundedTech 100%. It's understandable. Their phone business was dying. It was hemorrhaging money. It was either take drastic steps or shut their phone business down. And fair enough....it worked. They managed to cut costs, make it a bit profitable, and cultivate a cult (as in small) and very loyal fanbase. But it's been 5 years of this strategy now. But it's time for a serious change, and a new strategy. It's becoming increasingly pointless to remain a boutique brand. At some point Xperia needs to be taken mainstream again and they need to grow it. Both for the continuing survival of the business but also because Sony needs a more successful mobile multi- media device for various reasons related to their overall business.
@Sabundy yeah that makes sense to me too. Seems they're trying to make this next flagship a little more mainstream. Rumours of AI focus etc. That might even relate to camera. We'll know soon enough. I'll be picking it up on release day.
You have some very good points i agree also when i comes to software support longer software support would attract more people to buy the Xperia phones . Quality support is also a important factor . I have the Xperia 1V since last year when i was release here in the nordic countries and i hav nt experience any isues or bugs so far . But i would be good if Sony could sort out all those isues some users have in diffrent regions and last and they should release it in more markets course i think much people would by it .
Thanks. I'm glad you're liking your Xperia 1 V. I still really like mine too.
I'll keep my Sony Xperia 1 V this time around. Great video btw 👏🏻
Will find out soon enough if it's worth the upgrade. Thanks man!
It would be the biggest regression ever from Xperia if they abandon this 4K 21:9 screen... filming in 4K, watching Movies avec Creator mode will become useless 😒😒😒🥲
😞
5VI with same camera as 1VI, return of the notification LED, FM radio, 20 by 9 aspect ratio with 6" screen, 5000 mAh battery, audio out on the right side, 5 years of android updates...and I would switch from my 1 IV
@uwekneuper2548 5 VI unlikely to have all that with the way they're trying to differentiate it more now.
I agree with you about 21:9 and most things u said... I will keep 1v .... For 2 years and I don't think need to change it
Probably a wise move. I will be getting it anyway. Hoping I can grab another 1 V to compare properly.
@@GroundedTech yes u have to get one ( vi ) ... That ur job and that why we watching u 😅.....
@amigofavor3777 🤣
Fine! Lol
Great video, you Xperia lover boy!!
😆
Very interested to see what they do with the Xperia VI!
Great vidjya!
Could be more to your liking for gaming purposes this time round.
Absolutely!
I hope those significant changes are true. Sony is always running behind on the competition, especially in the phone department.
I can't say I agree with that. They focus on entirely different features to other companies and are intentionally niche these days.
However the changes should make them more appealing to some. They're still going to sell in smaller numbers but as long as they're profitable and providing something useful then that's great.
@@GroundedTech Of course it all depends on what you are looking for in a phone. If having a headphone jack, expendable storage, pro-camera features and stock Android is important to you, then yeah, get the Xperia. But on a technical level they have been consistently running behind on the competiton (Pixel, Samsung). They keep removing useful features with every new release, like the notification led or the Telephoto lens. Their update policy: Samsung now offers 7 years of updates, compared to the 2-3 years that Sony offers Xperia users. Also, a malfunctioning fingerprint scanner, overheating and screen brightness is another problem that plagues a lot of Xperias.
I currently own the Xperia 5 Mark III, and it's pretty unusable in countries where the temperature is above 30c. I can't see a thing in sunlight and taking a few pictures in basic mode results in a heat warning (certain apps are being disabled) or the Photography Pro app freezing/crashing. Must've happened at least 50 times when I was on vacation in Vietnam. Shooting videos with the Cinema Pro app? Don't even try it. My girlfriend's iPhone 14 Pro Max on the other hand didn't have any of these issues.
A great video!
You know me, mate - I would like to see a good quality, high-mpix telephoto. Then I'm sold!
I'm so desperate for it man.
Add some AI in the basic mode to help with quick photos. Calm down with the price. Add 3 years of OS and 4 years of security..
There's rumours of an AI focus. Not sure if this is beyond what Samsung brought with Google's services. I think the price is fine for what it offers. Niche phones with more particular functions tend to cost more unfortunately and it's no different to other flagships.
@@GroundedTech I truly think they could have the best of both worlds though. For the average camera phone user, keep it on basic and get good quality pictures. And if you're a DieHeart photographer switch over to the other mode. Things I like about Sony is the fingerprint reader, Sony phone, camera shutter button and being unique because living in the United States you don't see anybody with a Sony phone anymore. I could give a rat's ass about a 4K screen. I think that's more of a bragging rights because when you compare it side by side 99 some of the people couldn't even tell the difference.
@johncaban4310 I think the 4K was definitely just a niche marketing aspect. Seems they're doing away with that now anyway. You're right though. Sony are capable of offering something for everyone.
I wish they launch minimum 6.7 screen, this size is kind of a standard these days. Love big screens.
I like a big screen but also love being able to use the 1 V one handed. It's more practical. I still think a larger phone with this design will be nicer to use than other phones too.
I know some people like tall narrow phones, a lot of people do not though. Sony could get around this by offering both the narrow model and a galaxy ultra/iPhone pro max sized phone as well…. Bingo, everyone stays happy..
For many of us phones with narrow aspect ratios are a huge deal breaker, if you have chunky fingers and or big ish hands typing sucks , also if you are one of the 70 % demographic of earths inhabitants that have less than 20/20 vision looking at small text on a narrow screen , it also sucks, no to mention, despite the still wide screen format in landscape, due to the low ceiling, the image is actually smaller, that sucks too.
I’d love a Sony camera centric smartphone, I have Sony alpha camera gear , but the narrow form factor is an instant deal breaker.
To add to the cons with the narrow form factor, it makes them slippery to hold especially if you have big mitts.
I’m not sure what software support Sony offers these days , but google, Samsung, Apple all offer at least 5 years on the updates , so matching them would be nice if Sony currently does not.
Sony phones aren't designed to make everyone happy tbf lol. I don't think they could split models like that.
Are you absolutely sure all 3 sensors will be extmor T 48mo ones?
That was the initial rumour and what I would expect this year for them to compete. No point buying the VI over the V otherwise.
Not absolutely sure of course.
I remember trying the Pixel 6 for a short time and the narrow screen didn't make for a good general content viewing experience for me. I've slept on Sony phones until very recently. I'm excited to maybe switch out from my iPhone. Am I the only one looking forward to the potential of a wider phone?
The Pixel 6 is still a fairly wide phone tbh. Xperia is far narrower. Even though it's going wider it's not going to be super drastic. Still want 21:9 to stay 😅
Mate , I hate narrow phones with a passion, for the very limited pros for the people that do actually like them, there’s a ton of cons , for example, if you want to look at a web site in landscape, , due to the super low ceiling, the phone is fucking useless , add to that as I already mentioned in another post narrow screens don’t lend themselves well to those with not 100% eyesight, and typing is just bloody painful.
I remember the days when Sony made all shapes and sizes phones , the good old days, these days with the pissy narrow form factor like me for many people Sony phones are not on the shopping list, which is a shame because I like that Sony last time I looked still had a headphone Jack and SD card , alas , shitty narrow screen.
@mikldude9376 I get ya. I still prefer it myself.
@@mikldude9376 3840x1644 canvas is nice. Massively better than any other device, if you have the eyes for it... Not as nice as 2160p like the XZ Premium, I ran/run Xperia 1 both in native resolution 24/7 (there is very minimal blow to battery). 2160p was perfect for screensharing to 4K/1080p TVs; and very useful in hand with my crazy vision. No other phone competes, and actually this news coupled with my network dropping 3G support and not offering VoLTE means I will be forced to upgrade, and opt for a price reduced Xperia 1 V after this VI launches. The only thing that may sway me to put up with a usable canvas size reduction, again, is if the VI is better suited for Aussie Telcos.
The 21:9 ratio makes it a sony phone, if they go shorter & wider it will look like every other phone in the market, to me that will be bland. I say keep the ratio, keep the flat edges, change the curve corners to a pointy corners, kind of like the Samsung notes. It will then look like a really cool phone.
I think it will still look and feel pretty unique.
Inshallah this time sony will defeat other smart phones 😍
They're already in a totally unique place so kinda true 😁
@@GroundedTech yeah man I love Sony even though I can't afford there phone I have used 2019flagship Sony Experia 1 which I got in 100usd it was absolutely insane man that made me a Sony fan 😍
@awesomeguy9115 the 5 ii was my first Xperia and same 😄
20:9 would have been better
Only leaks so far and there's an event next month so let's see what they come up with.
@@GroundedTech I am assuming 5 VI will be the same aspect ratio so that technically will suit those who want a compact device still.
@hayderia110 will have to wait and see. They didn't even release the 5 in the US last year.
I’m kind of surprised 😱there’s Sony phone users majority i see it’s iPhone or Samsung 😅
For sure. I only started using them three years ago 😅
Is it just me or does this phone leak sound like a huge downgrade & a big F U to XPERIA fans? May as well buy a Pixel if true. 🤷♀️
Nothing official yet but it definitely doesn't sound like a Pixel lol
You are absolutely right. Sony should launch its xperia phones in India. Certainly we are missing out trying these phones in India.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Finally the long crap is DISMISSED
😭
@@GroundedTech 🤔
@salisalsero219 I like it 🥺
@@GroundedTech well, if their tactic doesnt work, maybe they will bring out the tall version back, or two different version
@salisalsero219 if they're making the change now it's unlikely it'll come back. I'll just pick one up permanently to keep for a while.
So it's going to be like every other phone lol
It's still going to be quite different! But I do want the 21:9 to stay.
