Perseverance is vital to succeed, but intelligence also plays an important part. Afghanistan has advanced to the last four in the World Cup T20. They defeated New Zealand, Australia, and Bangladesh today. They frequently spoke of their nation's honor and people, demonstrating their dedication to their country first. I believe India is the best team in this years T20 World Cup, and they have the potential to win the tournament due to their well balanced team.
Our cricketers must remember that they are able to play for T20 franchise competitions throughout the world not because of their talent, but because they initially played for their nation. There may be a few that can play, but the bulk are driven only by the desire to represent their nation at the highest level possible. I believe Wanindu and Dananjaya still lack qualities needed to lead our nation. I don't blame them because they are talented, but have we groomed them to be leaders? NO! First, you must be a leadership student, gain experience, and eventually become a leader.
So you can challenge yourself and become the leader you always wished to be; all you need is commitment, perseverance, and the capacity to grow, learn, and improve those/players around you. This is lacking in Sri Lankan cricket, and I feel we can evolve and become a better side, but we must all work together to share our expertise, help, and assist at all levels of cricket, both in administration and as players. The Indian tour in July this year will be an opportunity to evaluate how far we have come and how much better we can play cricket. Excellent cricketers cannot be good coaches, while good coaches may not be excellent players. Don't get confused between skills and administrative knowledge.
