@Vobatho You also have to double check if it could be a problem with a Move Objects On aka MOO build just to be safe. Most people who upload cool lots are more concerned with how it looks and not with game play functionality. Several of them only build and never play or even play test. It's possible only one table was truly accessible if you downloaded a lot off the gallery. Also, it helps to confirm if this also happens in brand new saves as well as old saves since half the time the devs state in updates that only new saves have the bug fixes in them. I'm not saying you're wrong, there's so many bugs I believe you're having these issues, but it's possible this could be why if you're playing an older save. I haven't played the Sims in several months so I'm going off memories of my Sims taking a few hours to eat, as they always do, but being able to sit (musical chairs style but they did sit at multiple tables in fact lol), eat, pay, and then go. I'm lazy so I usually just use the Chez Llama that Maxis built because I keep thinking I'll have my sims learn the experimental dishes and then I usually forget lol. (I don't have For Rent but the bugs still worried me and I've been focusing on other things, which is why I haven't been playing.) Incidentally, you may want to look into Carl's Dineout Reloaded mod because if you're still having these issues and it isn't just MOO or old save bugs then that would probably help. If nothing else, I know that his mod guarantees more helpful waitstaff and the ability to assume other roles.

As much as I love the idea of running your own restaurant, it's just so broken. And I want to be more involved in the process too, like actually capable of being a chef at the restaurant. I love this pack, but you need to put tweaks in to make it work. 4 tables max, clear pathways, waiter table thing near the tables. I haven’t had a single issue by simplifying it for sims (which def means it is still broken if it can’t handle like a normal sized restaurant).
is that all you needed to make it run in your game? I’ve been dying to buy dine out since release, but I can’t get mods & I don’t want to buy something broken
It's definitely less buggy than before but still the customers aren't always sitting down to eat. Which is annoying as you can't take care of them as the owner when they're standing 😢 they could have fixed that
You might want to double-check that isn't an issue with a Move Objects On/MOO build from the gallery. @jazzysugar3777 Ok I just wanted to confirm it's the musical chairs issue. You'll want Carl's mod if you can get it in that case although I'm not certain if he's updated it for whatever the most recent patch is. I'm pretty certain he resolved that. It's not possible to keep them sitting 100% of the time but he resolved a lot of issues and made running and visiting the restaurants as functional as possible. He's the same guy who fixed My Wedding Stories before Maxis did so he knows how to make Sims sit the hell down lol.
I don't know why it's broken for so many people because it's always worked for me & when it doesn't it's usually because an employee died or I have to update some mods in my game. Other than than that it's always worked great for me.
OH, YES. I literally can't even go to my restaurant lot to fix the "missing Host" issue because the game can't load the Restaurant and forces me to relaunch the game when I try. (No Mods or CC installed, btw) 10/10 absolute masterpiece of crap
It's still broken for me. My sim will get a table, but refuse to sit at it. They'll sit at the counter or at the bar. I still have to click on the table to order the food, but they just won't sit there. Sometimes the order is placed, but the food never comes so I have to give up the table. 😂 I can't imagine trying to own and run a restaurant when going as a customer is already so hard.
I usually just create a restaurant & let the computer run it. No one owns it. I put inspirational decor around the employees. In one game, it made Eliza Pancakes the chef. That way, I can observe the restaurant without having to manage it. I also turned the Diamond Lounge into a restaurant & let the computer manage that.
I've never had issues playing as a customer, but I also make my own restaurants and design them so sims can route as easily as possible. I think most people who have problems are playing with too complicated layouts.
The running the restaurant side has never been as bad as the being a customer side. Do not take your sims to a restaurant hungry, they will die of starvation.
This is my first time meeting Jeanine and Bean and I think a cartoon of them going on adventures would be awesome. The stable, in control friend, and the paranoid, uneasy friend. That would be so entertaining
I just started streaming my restaurant build yesterday, what a coincidence you post a dine out video. 😂 my restaurant is 5 stars, I got really lucky with my staff, they work perfectly and customers love them. But the problem is, I am not making shit for money.
Well, without mods, it works better than it used to, but with the reloaded mod Bean could've cooked and Janine could've hosted and wait on the tables and save money by not paying employees that put dirty dishes everywhere.
The retail owning one is wayyy worse. Employees just standing there not ringing up customers even if you told them too, ringing up customers being pretty annoying to do, etc
There’s a really good mod for this that James Turner used in a video. I can’t remember the name but it made this pack so much better. You should try it out and maybe make another attempt with it loaded into your game. Would definitely watch that video
i love the concept of dine out so much and i wish it worked like it should. if you're able to get mods, there is a mod that not only fixes dine out, but adds even more to it. i can't remember exactly so don't quote me but i think it's by carl's sim guides.
i wish you could copy outfits for the employee dress code. i used to think my computer was too weak to handle the game or that cc was interfering with the scripts, but knowing that the same bugs exist in your game too makes me feel better 😅 specifically my sim dumpster diving!!

I dont have mods, i made all of the updates, i even “repair” the sims and doesn’t work, i selled my restaurant and buy it again but nothing seems to change!!! Actually going to the restaurants on dates and stuff like that isn't too broken. It takes a full day for a three course meal but most dates in the Sims do. The NPC cooks, hosts, etc do a pretty good job. The NPC diners struggle a little but it's not about them, they can wander around in the background with a plate if they want to. I never use retail stores because I find them annoying and not fun to be a customer in but I do enjoy being a customer in a restaurant.
Make your employee wear anything, or, with the proper mod, even nothing at all... You need the Dine Out Reloaded mod to make that pack functional. I lost count of how many random Sims died in my game, during the Winter, wearing hot weather clothing or even just a swim wear...🥶☠👻 Then, there are those who died during a heat wave while wearing Winter clothes 🔥☠👻
I don't feel like it worked the way it should... The customer size could be chalked up to restaurant rating, but other wise, I barely saw anyone get their food, and the ones that did, I didn't see them eat it. Plus, the booths seem bugged.

With cooking being one of my favorite things to do, especially cooking games, I wanted to like this pack and even with all the time that's gone by, and it hasn't been fixed to any satisfactory degree, it's real irritating. While I do think it's good that they made the employees not have conventional needs during a shift (that bothered in 2 where they ditch their posts to cook macaroni) that's just about the only good I say for Dine out. It's real stupid how you can't really make those in the same household be employed here, how you can't serve or cook, especially with a wasted opportunity I bet countless players would like to do in making long standing restaurants be passed down from generation to generation as a family-owned thing. But silly me for expecting quality for paid content. 🤷
It's not broken if you have Carl's Dine Out Reloaded mod, it makes a world of difference, it makes the difference of enjoying a nice meal with friends or family getting your food quickly and even going to the bathroom before your food is brought to the table, or having your sims wait hours to get their order taken, slowly starving to death waiting for the food to be brought, peeing yourself cause you don't want to have to replace your order cause your sim won't go to the bathroom unless they cancel the wait for food action, and then leaving to go buy food at the vending machine cause your sim is literally about to die from hunger cause the food never came. I feel bad for all those Sims of console players all starving to death in a place where they never bring the food.
The pack is NOT functional when you are the customer. If you take your Sims to a restaurant to eat, it's a mess.
