I don't understand Dine Out. Not only does it not work and frustrate players, but from a coding standpoint I have no idea why they went the route they did with it. Without getting into a lot of coding specifics, it's very complicated and works against the autonomy feature of the game. Why would they code it like that? For counter service dining they could have simply made a bar like item that served food instead, which would have been super easy to code and create the opportunity for simmers to make actual diners/fast food places. And for a sit down dining experience, being seated, ordering drinks, and ordering food should be one continuous interaction that a sim can multitask during (similar to writing a book, so they can still talk/eat/whatever while doing it) and then have the "staff" sims not have autonomy. Half of the glitches/hangups during weddings, parties, outings in general, etc. is that the NPC staff sims hired to run the event still have autonomy to do whatever they like instead of being a true NPC in that moment and following the steps of the event. And as for "owning" a restaurant, if it's not going to be a live career for chef sims and you're just the "owner" then there is no reason for you to go there on a regular basis. It should be passive income with occasional events (similar to For Rent without the bugs) where you get a bug infestation or fire or something and have to deal with it. That would make way more since than just standing there talking to people LMAO

EA should offer an option to refund the difference in price so it’s just a stuff pack since gameplay is so broken. For all packs that are like this, so all of them?
I genuinely don’t understand how they haven’t recalled or fixed this expansion…..every single person who bought it should ask for a refund so they understand that people aren’t ok with it.
My dine out is working. I found if you have any thing on the table nothing will be delivered to the table. So no lights, menus or plates and the orders would be delivered. But I just played today with no issues but try again. Use my restaurant called “power of love “ to see if it works for you.
I usually only order drinks and main course. I think stuff on the tables can also cause glitches. Like sims getting up all the time. Also, smaller restaurants seem to be less glitchy. Like with wedding storries, it is best to keep things simple. But ofc things should just work like they are supposed to.
no but imagine if serving, hosting, or mixologist (would say bartender but it’s EA so they’d neverrrrr) were live careers your sims could do in a restaurant! would have genuinely been so fun and quite challenging (as a real life server and bartender, lmao.)
I’m so surprised. Dine out works for me. I don’t experience any of these problems. My only problem is when I have a party there and we don’t get seated together. But I can fix that by going as a group & choosing to sit together
So do the toddlers if you take them to one because they can't actually interact with having food. This is probably an oversight because toddlers came after this pack by years, but literally they forgot to add toddlers to it even as an "order for" option.
Building upon what Satch said: The build stuff is alright. I do use items from this pack quite a bit. However, the lack of veritle ownership or repeative interactions prevents me as a player from wanting to own a restaurant AND as the player I very RARELY take my sims to a restaurant to eat (due to wait times mainly). That's just my gameplay though. (I'm not really one that enjoys super repetitive gameplay, but you can look up JamesTurner's rags to riches to see the gameplay in a lot more detail.) Get to Work is better for a quick serve restaurant type due to selling displays that are coolers for the food. OR you can choose any selling table pack.
i've always felt a bit like an outsider when it comes to dine out because it seems like everyone else is bashing it for being completely unplayable. i was disappointed because it was lacking in gameplay features but otherwise it run fine for me even on a laptop, besides maybe the annoying general performance issues like sims unable to resist the urge to play in a pile of trash or fainting after seeing a celebrity, to which you just get used at this point.
I'm so glad that I never bought this pack. The concept is a must have but they completely botched it. I totally agree it should be fixed or recalled with refunds.
A note for those watching this video, that this is before the patch coming before Lovestruck, which is supposed to have bug fixes for Dine Out. I hope it actually helps. Lol
Is really funny that sims 2 players literally released a story progression mod that literally change the main core of the game, while sims 4 players need to release a fix for something EA should be doing.
It is good to see the review on this, even though it has been how many years since it came out - when it USED to work, lollz -, but I tried the buying restaurant option for the first time, noticed I never tried it, one of the days. I'm sorry to say, but I found it so boring. Forgot families and so, people known can't be selected, and pleasing customers and staff is fine, but my Sim not doing as much, just cleaning if needed, and telling whosoever options that could be selected, got boring really fast. I am glad to hear, and know there is a mod, for doing things around the restaurant, and it seems so much more fun. Might have to try it one day - taking in as I only just got my game to function, and before wasn't able to travel to lots/run a business actively. Was too long, VERY LONG loading screens. Not a great way to play. Have more freedom now...,for now, lollz 😅
The fact that this pack was released in this state, continues to sit at full price in this state, and is hard to get a refund for due to being in this state is sinful. Absolutely shameful.
Controversial, but I love Dine Out! I use the Women’s dress, female child’s hair, and men’s blazer all the time. Also mine never really bugs. I’ve not had issues the last few times I’ve played it. Granted I don’t tend to run them, I just use them as date locations. Also I use the build/buy mode for Every. Single. Build. Especially the plants, tiles and kitchen themed clutter items!
A LinkedIn page of Maxis' former employee suggests that The Sims 5, or at least its PS5 version, is no more. UPD: An anonymous source close to Maxis has confirmed to me that the rumor is false: the studio is still developing PC and mobile versions of The Sims 5.
Serious question but like how long can they keep dine out and wedding stories this broken before we'd have a legitimate cause for a class action. Because not being funny but how could EA argue that they are trying to fix this when its been years now
And of course Carl is the one saving EA's ass, he should be the person responsible for allowing the packs to be released or not, because he knows how to fix the bugs, not like people who work there now who probably think 'code' is their bank account card PIN..
When it works; it's great! But Sims have deeply loved one game above all else; Musical Chairs. Sims will do anything or stop anything to play Musical Chairs.
I geeatly dislike how this pack needs mods or specific funtions. This and the outdoors really needs the refresh, but they stopped after their first two attemps..
At this point they should just pay off all the mod creators who have created all the fixes for this game since EA does not have any staff members with enough time to do it.
Karen's are unreasonable and usually rude. You gave us very reasoned and polite reasons why Dien Out is trash. Nothing you said was overly critical or harsh.
I just bought this dlc and it runs perfect for me 😳 like I’m even surprise that my sims just stays in the table the whole meal. Could it be cause I only have like 8 expansion packs ?
I really want them to refresh it... that and Outdoor Retreat. I can't complete the bugs collection because it always appears the same bugs. I can't remember the last time I saw a fire ant.
I just bought Dine out a few months ago, but bought it as a bundle through a very reputable electronic store here in NZ (genuine EA products) on clearance, I got 4 bundle packs (4 game packs and 8 stuff packs) for the equivalent of USD$36, so would have paid $3USD for Dine Out, so not overly sad, but I haven't actually loaded Dine Out onto game yet......think will also get the mod!
For anyone who has this pack and wants a better experience, rather than trying to get refunded I recommend the dine out reloaded mod by carl’s guide. It makes the pack way less buggy when dining out, plus it gives you the option to play as the the chef or the host or the waiter. It’s free and easy to install and makes the pack actually playable. Sadly though this doesn’t fix the issue for console players or those who don’t or can’t download mods:( I wish ea would fix this pack but instead they will just keep releasing even more broken buggy packs. Ea only cares about a pack before ppl buy it, after they don’t care, they have their money, why fix it? Makes me so disappointed lol.
Wait, you’re able to actually order multiple things at once? I’ve only been able to order one thing and wait until it’s cleared then order another thing. I always just assumed this was how the pack was supposed to be lol. I could be wrong though.
I'll disagree with you on CAS. As a male simmer, I use the waistcoat and jacket with tie a lot for my formal wear and party wear for adult sims. The full body female outfits function very well on adult and ever elder sims, something that is otherwise lacking. The CAS in this pack is indispensable in my view. Dining is thoroughly broken though. Thank f. for Carl and his mod.
Forgetting about the fact that it doesn’t work, there are more features in Dine Out than Lovestruck or really any of the more recent expansions (which also don’t work). That’s really sad.
Dine out been broken for years, I wish they would fix it. This is why I use Carls DineOut mod. And the Fact EA still showing Ads for this pack it diabolical...
Oh man, I bought this expansion day one and I felt like the writing was on the wall. I can't believe how long this pack has been broken. And for everyone who says "well mine works!" okay cool? But clearly that's rare. Which is BAD! Even if yours works, you gotta admit, it shouldn't be common for everyone elses to be so broken!
i reallyyy wanted to buy this pack because it sounds so fun to have my sims go out and eat together but it'd be a terrible waste of money even if i download mods to make the experience bearable
Honestly it isn't so bad as a pack to have an extra date location. However, you cannot feed toddlers with it. They aren't included at all, so keep this in mind should you ever get it and want to take the family out to eat.
Yeah I was about to not get this pack because of the reviews, but it works for me. I wonder if they fixed for when you buy it but can’t fix it with updates??
@@jssfrk161 I think they update it little by little to be sure no big bugs or glitches happen, but overall as a whole the pack hasn't been updated like a refresh or better functionality. It has a lot of lagging and odd interaction. For example your toddlers cannot have food because toddlers were added after the pack came out which never got included. And when your sims get invited they must pay despite being the invited sim.
I have had no big issues with Dine Out, twice I never got served and it was because of the restaurant design it turned out. Got it from the gallery and plopped it in, tweaked a couple things in the build and it works fine. If you wanna do all three courses it will take forever especially since you order each separate. I never do all three courses, a drink and one food item is good enough for me. I pay the bill and leave after that.
The waiters dropping the food gets me soo irritated 😆 I know they’re trying to be quirky and show how the sim has low skill but it’s sooo aggy especially when it’s the 2nd time the order glitched and never came and it finally comes and they drop it and it’s been 10 sim hours like omggg
Hi I have a question! So I don't have dine out. But I'm interested in the build mode stuff. Do the bugs affect wider gameplay or if you don't interact with restaurants is it fine? :)
12:20-12:30 I've wondered this too, why dont they just pay the guy who made the mod to fix it for them since they dont want to do it. This mod would of been great date night material or dining gameplay if it worked. I would of bought it and they keep making new shit instead of idk adding updates, bug fixes, like other games do?
Working in restaurants and cafeterias in The Sims Mobile is even better😂. The game even have a designer career. The Sims 4 could never. Even when you visit a zone all lots are unlocked and you dont have to load every single lot

agreed. it used to work but now its completely broken. that's what happens when the game just becomes a DLC simulator and none of the mechanics work together
Satch, you can’t order all courses at once. You can only choose one food and one drink, then you have to order again, if you want another course.
Beside from drinks, you can only select 1 dish (could be appetizer, main or dessert) per order and cannot order all of these things at the same time
But you can order other dish after that tho (for ex: you order main dish and you can other dessert after your sims finish the main dish
@@renji_sama Exactly. I had to back up the video when he started acting like more food should be coming.
@@kirasant maybe he didn't realize about that cuz for example, if he choose one dish before but after that choose another dish, the previous option will disappear. Just like him, I used to think there was error about this but realized after a few try
I find this really annoying bc your sim eats an appetiser n is full 😅
@@Alexandria.J.Barmer me too, this makes me loose interest with dine out so much. i have to use UI cheat to decrease my sims hunger, then order the next dish lol
Flo's Diner Dash reference- I Loved that game!!! That would be cool if Dine Out was like that!
The most expensive Build/Buy kit you can get. I think it deserves bonus points for the sheer audacity.
The Spa Day refresh made me so hopeful that this pack might get fixed 💔
The spa day refresh is actually pretty good. I bought this pack just because they refreshed it.
This pack used to work and be fun. EA's problem is that they never update old packs or consider them when making new packs.
2:45 really thought you’d say “let’s talk about eating out.” Haha
EA should offer an option to refund the difference in price so it’s just a stuff pack since gameplay is so broken. For all packs that are like this, so all of them?
I genuinely don’t understand how they haven’t recalled or fixed this expansion…..every single person who bought it should ask for a refund so they understand that people aren’t ok with it.
I’m honestly shocked that this wasn’t one of your first reviews lol
It’s like you saved the “best” for last 😂
How many times have you brutally reviewed this pack?
Yea. I could have sworn he reviewed this before
My dine out is working. I found if you have any thing on the table nothing will be delivered to the table. So no lights, menus or plates and the orders would be delivered. But I just played today with no issues but try again. Use my restaurant called “power of love “ to see if it works for you.
I really appreciate these Bruce Lee Honest Reviews!
If they're so butthurt about people not wanting the pack, then fix it and give it for free. They've given backyard to us already
I usually only order drinks and main course. I think stuff on the tables can also cause glitches. Like sims getting up all the time. Also, smaller restaurants seem to be less glitchy. Like with wedding storries, it is best to keep things simple. But ofc things should just work like they are supposed to.
It worked when I went to other restaurants for eating . It’s usually custom restaurants that seem to have an issue and some specific restaurants
This might just be me but when I play dine out everything goes smoothly
no but imagine if serving, hosting, or mixologist (would say bartender but it’s EA so they’d neverrrrr) were live careers your sims could do in a restaurant! would have genuinely been so fun and quite challenging (as a real life server and bartender, lmao.)
I’m so surprised. Dine out works for me. I don’t experience any of these problems. My only problem is when I have a party there and we don’t get seated together. But I can fix that by going as a group & choosing to sit together
My sim died of hunger after waiting 13 hours to be served! 😂
So do the toddlers if you take them to one because they can't actually interact with having food. This is probably an oversight because toddlers came after this pack by years, but literally they forgot to add toddlers to it even as an "order for" option.
I do love the casual/formal outfits in this pack. they're really fancy and timeless, even though there isn't much, they made good choices
Building upon what Satch said:
The build stuff is alright. I do use items from this pack quite a bit. However, the lack of veritle ownership or repeative interactions prevents me as a player from wanting to own a restaurant AND as the player I very RARELY take my sims to a restaurant to eat (due to wait times mainly). That's just my gameplay though. (I'm not really one that enjoys super repetitive gameplay, but you can look up JamesTurner's rags to riches to see the gameplay in a lot more detail.)
Get to Work is better for a quick serve restaurant type due to selling displays that are coolers for the food. OR you can choose any selling table pack.
I don't think Carl is an amateur, but I'm on console and would sure like to see EA pay him so I could use his features
I feel your pain. Carl's mod is excellent.
I don't understand why they won't hire these people who make the mods. Im not PC but I wish I was just for the mods and cc.
Me too at this point let the Consoles have fun to
i've always felt a bit like an outsider when it comes to dine out because it seems like everyone else is bashing it for being completely unplayable. i was disappointed because it was lacking in gameplay features but otherwise it run fine for me even on a laptop, besides maybe the annoying general performance issues like sims unable to resist the urge to play in a pile of trash or fainting after seeing a celebrity, to which you just get used at this point.
3:54 I’ve figured out that you could only order one meal at a time so you have to order each course separately
This vid will not disappoint! I’m excited!👀💕
You left absolutely NO CRUMBS satch 👏👏👏 saying nothing but FACTSSSS!!!!
Lol
Has it fixed it for u?
Are you going to talk about the possible cancellation of The Sims 5...? 🤔
A LinkedIn page of Maxis' former employee suggests that The Sims 5, or at least its PS5 version, is no more. UPD: An anonymous source close to Maxis has confirmed to me that the rumor is false: the studio is still developing PC and mobile versions of The Sims 5.
In the sims 2 there was a chance the waiters would accidentally spill the food on the sim they were serving. I was so sad they didn't include it
0 points is crazy and I totally agree ✨
Serious question but like how long can they keep dine out and wedding stories this broken before we'd have a legitimate cause for a class action. Because not being funny but how could EA argue that they are trying to fix this when its been years now
i AM SUCH A FOODIE THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST PACK i BOUGHT... and I am now a bit gun-shy to purchase anything else )*
Aw, I miss Diner Dash. I keep looking for a mobile version but it's not there 😢 Idk if it is on Steam at all
At this point they should just pay off all the mod creators who have created all the fixes for this game since EA does not have any staff members with enough time to do it.
My favorite review to date!
This is actually the only pack that works perfectly fine for me, I never have any issue with food, my sims sitting down and eating etc.
Karen's are unreasonable and usually rude. You gave us very reasoned and polite reasons why Dien Out is trash. Nothing you said was overly critical or harsh.
Ikr?? Smh
Fully agree
I just bought this dlc and it runs perfect for me 😳 like I’m even surprise that my sims just stays in the table the whole meal. Could it be cause I only have like 8 expansion packs ?
Carl's mod fixes it perfectly which shows it is possible 😂 they are just that lazy
“A part of the gameplay experience is DINING at a restaurant, Allegedlllllyyy” 😂💀
I really want them to refresh it... that and Outdoor Retreat. I can't complete the bugs collection because it always appears the same bugs. I can't remember the last time I saw a fire ant.
I've just given up on this pack. I don't play this pack without Carl's mod installed. Restaurant's are just unplayable in the sims 4.
The laugh💀 10:15
EA FIX YOUR GAME PLEASE!
I just bought Dine out a few months ago, but bought it as a bundle through a very reputable electronic store here in NZ (genuine EA products) on clearance, I got 4 bundle packs (4 game packs and 8 stuff packs) for the equivalent of USD$36, so would have paid $3USD for Dine Out, so not overly sad, but I haven't actually loaded Dine Out onto game yet......think will also get the mod!
if this pack was done properly it would have been a game by itself man a Resto sim damn
Wait- you are suppost to order entree main menu and dessert all at once???
I always order one after another
Nope, you have to order one after the other. You’re doing it right.
They are releasing a patch to fix various packs, including this one.
I just wish we could work as a waiter/waitress, a more in depth dining experience
i don't vibe with like almost anything in this pack but i do love the hairstyle and build mode though
male shanice will never not scare me
Wait, you’re able to actually order multiple things at once? I’ve only been able to order one thing and wait until it’s cleared then order another thing. I always just assumed this was how the pack was supposed to be lol. I could be wrong though.
When I think about how well and easily restaurants worked in Sims 2. 😢
Carls mod for dine out is the epitome of if they wanted to they would 😂
Forgetting about the fact that it doesn’t work, there are more features in Dine Out than Lovestruck or really any of the more recent expansions (which also don’t work). That’s really sad.
I totally agree that this pack is broken. We expect it to work on launch, but nope. We are paying (some of us) for a faulty product...
I am new to the sims and just bought all the packs so what I want to know instead of using the restaurant table can I use any other table?
@@corabeani i had no clue thank you ! 🙏
You didn't mentioned thar every character clips through the chairs, the tables and even through the walls.
Very considerate of you to give us the timestamp to skip the entire video.
oho here we go
The waiters dropping the food gets me soo irritated 😆 I know they’re trying to be quirky and show how the sim has low skill but it’s sooo aggy especially when it’s the 2nd time the order glitched and never came and it finally comes and they drop it and it’s been 10 sim hours like omggg
Hi I have a question! So I don't have dine out. But I'm interested in the build mode stuff. Do the bugs affect wider gameplay or if you don't interact with restaurants is it fine? :)
The bugs don’t really effect anything outside of the actual restaurant gameplay so you should be fine!
@@megamapple01 thanks!
So I just got Dine out during the sale. I only received my drink and dessert 😂
Yes, you can only order one course at a time
It's still ridiculous we don't have a pool table in The Sims 4.
Working in restaurants and cafeterias in The Sims Mobile is even better😂. The game even have a designer career. The Sims 4 could never. Even when you visit a zone all lots are unlocked and you dont have to load every single lot
Hot Date was the best!
What world is Dine Out in ? 😢 I’ve downloaded it and can’t find it .
there's no world for dine out
How did i fix thisnpack? I uninstalled it. 😅
I ❤ the mod bu5 honnestly I don't use restaurants enough....😅
sometimes the most complex, is often the most simple...And I will put it like this. "Bad -10/10"
