  • I love using wild garlic when it’s in season. It has a wonderful, subtle flavour but if you can’t get your hands on any, spring onion or chives will work nicely here too but do try to track some down if you can.

Hi Donal, I just wanted to say thank you for such a lovely recipe. I'm originally from Arizona in the states (where you most definitely don't get wild garlic!) and have watched your videos for a long, long time. I remember seeing this video (along with the Pesto one) when it first came out and always wished I could live in an area where I could forage and make something this delicious. Fast-forward 7 years, and I'm now living in southern England with my partner. This morning I went out for the first time to forage some wild garlic that I spotted on a local walk. I remembered this video and just finished making and trying the scones. They are delicious!!! I cannot contain the excitement. I am also a huge fan of the summer pavlova cake and the thai green curry chicken recipes, also from years ago. They have been my staples for many a family gathering. Your recipes and your food have impacted my life in many ways, all for the better. Thank you so much for everything.

I just made them with chives, because I didn't have wild garlic. They are SO delicious! I'm not sure, if I've ever had a scone before, so I don't know, of that's what they should taste/look/feel like, but I love them😍

Sk-on-e or scon? I'm a scon man mesel. Though, at this stage in my life, I don't think I will ever again taste a scone that was baked in an oven pot over a turf fire, like me mammy made twice a day. Anyone reading this that has had that scone, knows the taste that I'm talking about. You that haven't. You never will.

Interesting way to make a scone--here in the US we don't use any eggs. Milk to soften the dough, cold butter and baking powder to puff it up. Will have to try this way

I think that "wild garlic" is called "ramps" in the NY State area. They're sometime sold at farmers markets, but are quite rare otherwise. I'll have to try these with chives.
