When you have school tomorrow, but you decided to have a Donal Skehan food marathon of all his recipes while laying bed... It is totally worth it!! Keep up with the good work Donal!! ;)
I can't believe you guys did a video together! I've been re-watching both of your channels this past week and watching one with both of you in it is well incredibly amazing.
Donal Skehan lol, I have the same claw. I actually think you will see it in my video Sunday :). I really love that you used the potato water, great idea. That cheese looks like Dubliner if I'm not mistaken.
Yay thank you Donal :) It is a lovely recipe I've tride it today and my mother loved it! the claw thing worked and also the shoulder movement while knead the dough felt like a workout :)
These look delicious! I love Irish cheddar. I became obsessed with it when I lived in Derry. I'm going to have to give these a try. I'm really looking forward to all the other recipes to come!
I'm totally going to try this at home. It looks delicious and OMG! Can't believe you're doing a collaboration video with TheDomesticGeek! I really love her videos! can't wait for another collaboration videos. Love you both!
Yay first video of St.Patrick Day series! can't wait see the next one already lol Thanks for making awesome videos like this!! Much love from S.Korea xx
I made these today and they were the bomb! I accidentally left the lid on when I put in the oven so they didn't get that nice golden color but nonetheless, they were amazing, fluffy, and super easy to make! I even spread some strawberry preserves on it for a different flavor and it actually went great with the cheese xD! But I definitely recommend this recipe to anyone who loves potatoes!!! =D
***** she makes healthy recipes, lunch ideas, etc. I don't know if she's still on the Coral channel but try watching some of her videos on thedomesticgeek (:
I watched this video and I don't know when I stood up and cooked this beautiful rolls. THANK YOU FOR THIS RECIPE, it's incredible. Very tasty) P.S. Sorry for my English, I'm Russian girl :D
I love cheese and potatoes and baking, so this sounds right up my alley! I was just wondering +Donal Skehan can you put the cheese inside the bread as well? How would that impact the cooking time?
This looks fantastic! I'm kind of jelly of the people who get to share the extra with you. Best part has got to be the tops! I was wondering....would there be a difference in final product if I used instant yeast instead of active dry? My understanding is that they are different.
I agree with Beth, this looks delicious....just to eat them still slightly warm and with some good, Irish butter...hmmmm Question: Would the recipe also work without adding the sugar? Thanks & regards, S.
looking and drooling over all the st.patties colabs and want to try every single one of them! Must have been a lot of work Donal, for you to put all of this together, you do look a bit tired, but we all super appreciate your effort!
When you are boiling the potatoes for the dough, do you put salt in the water or just leave them bland? I have to give these a try, everything you do looks so delicious :)
Potato and cheese- two of my absolute favourite things. I'm a coeliac (boo!), so just wondering if this would work with gluten free flour? Most bread recipes seem to call for only strong bread flour- or at least the recipe states bread flour and I'm too afraid to deviate! But when you say 'plain' flour, do you mean 'plain' plain flour or just 'plain-not-strong' bread flour? If it's plain plain flour, do you think this could this work with GF plain (or self raising) flour? Sorry! I just really, really miss bread that doesn't taste like it's been sat on a conveyor belt for a week :(
I used 'plain' plain flour so you could defo give them a go with the GF flour and see how it goes. Let me know how they turn out. It would be great to have an GF option to point people to! :)
Just a thought. Since you now have so many fans who use F degrees, can you pop that temp. in along with your temp. description for your oven? Personally, I don't mind consulting my chart. Would be rather nice to have it in the original presentation, tho'. Wonderful as usual.
Love the recipe and am eager to try it. Only complaint is the camera work is a bit frustrating. The slow focus is distracting and as lovely as Donal may be to look at, it'd be nice to include what he's actually doing in the shot more often. Referring to kneading the dough with your hand but you can only see him from the elbows up!
In the recipe, it says to keep the mashed potatoes warm. What if they are made the day before and kept in the fridge, would that work the same or do they need to be fresh?
After watching this international Irish TH-cam Collab I think I have to throw a St. Pat's day party and feature all of these recipes. Love that +DonalSkehan organized this and happy to be introduced to your channel, via The Domestic Geek ***** RTR Media

Donal Skehan lol, I have the same claw. I actually think you will see it in my video Sunday :). I really love that you used the potato water, great idea. That cheese looks like Dubliner if I'm not mistaken.

This seems so easy to cook!
Vivre Avec It really is! Give it a go! :)
Thank you for being the kind of cook who doesn't toss the water taters cooked in. You're a kitchen dude after my own heart.
Haha! Waste not want not! :)
Might try making these to go with stew for the grandparents some day
Loooks so goooooood, I'm gonna try that for suuure!

Наташка Fantastic! Hope you liked them!
SOOOOOO cool! My fav youtubers in one collab!
Woohoo! :)
First time spending St. Patrick's Day in Ireland! Greetings from Cork :)
Paulina Gonzalez Hope you have a great day! :)
These look absolutely delicious! I'm assuming you could forgo the cheese topping if you wanted a more plain bread to go with a stew?
Happy St paddys day Donal 🍀
Phil O flaherty Thanks! :)
I love cheese and potatoes and baking, so this sounds right up my alley! I was just wondering +Donal Skehan can you put the cheese inside the bread as well? How would that impact the cooking time?
I'm only going to try them if they're calorie free lol. 😂 They look amazing as all your recipes do. ☺
Absolutely zero calories...Lol! Worth it though. :)
Brilliant lol.
I can almost smell them over here, they look so yummy! What do you recommend serving along?
My mum use to make me a variation of these back when I was a little boy. She'd replace the cheese with sage butter and garlic, and kept the potato's.
kenny sei Sounds delicious!
This looks fantastic! I'm kind of jelly of the people who get to share the extra with you. Best part has got to be the tops!
I was wondering....would there be a difference in final product if I used instant yeast instead of active dry? My understanding is that they are different.
Ketki Bhosale Not really sure. I haven't tested it but it should be ok! Hope you like them!
Yummy. Maybe gonna make some and send them to my favorite actor...Donal Logue :)
looks super I will make some tonight! The only time I cook lol
Hope you like them! :)
Omg my mom always made this on holidays!

Got to get in the spirit! :)
Sara brought me here. This looks Delish!!
Welcome! Thanks for stopping by! :)
Ah howth beach, I was there recently.
Can't beat it!
I love recipes, where food is not wasted (like potato or potato water).
I agree with Beth, this looks delicious....just to eat them still slightly warm and with some good, Irish butter...hmmmm
Question: Would the recipe also work without adding the sugar?
Thanks & regards,
S.
Spellboundwitch You can leave it out but the sweetness will help activate the yeast. You could try a tablespoon or so of honey instead! :)
This guy deserves like a million subscribers
mikey gorges Spread the word! Thanks so much!
looking and drooling over all the st.patties colabs and want to try every single one of them! Must have been a lot of work Donal, for you to put all of this together, you do look a bit tired, but we all super appreciate your effort!
Nijinskylover It was a LOT of work but had such a blast. Delighted you enjoyed it! :)
I thought the Irish didn't care about "St. Patrick's Day". Well whatever. THIS LOOKS AMAZING!
***** Nope it's a big celebration over here! It's a national holiday! :)
When you are boiling the potatoes for the dough, do you put salt in the water or just leave them bland?
I have to give these a try, everything you do looks so delicious :)
FeelTheBeauty93 You can do either! Hope you like them! :)
Looks nice! Could you add chives/spring onion or extra cheese to the dough, or would that make it too heavy to rise properly?
Etienne Lefebvre It should be fine! Let me know how it turns out! :)
Potato and cheese- two of my absolute favourite things.
I'm a coeliac (boo!), so just wondering if this would work with gluten free flour? Gluten Free Gluten Substitute (GfG)
I used 'plain' plain flour so you could defo give them a go with the GF flour and see how it goes. Let me know how they turn out. It would be great to have an GF option to point people to! :)
I am honestly curious about how you get it out of the pot without ripping it apart.
I like the recipe I am a webit Irish my self
Just a thought. Since you now have so many fans who use F degrees, can you pop that temp. in along with your temp. description for your oven? Personally, I don't mind consulting my chart. Would be rather nice to have it in the original presentation, tho'. Wonderful as usual.
rivergal47 I will see what I can do! Great suggestion! :)
"proving to you that we don't just eat potatoes" cooks potaotes hahahahaha
I'll eat anything with potatoes in it.
On a different note, you got killer eyebrows, man. Your eyebrow game is on point, I'm so jealous of you.
deeehi3 Haha! Thanks!
what do you usually eat with them?
Hi! Love this recipe, but I was just wondering why you brush the dough with milk?
It gives the bread a great crust and also helps the cheese stick! You could do it with a little beaten egg if you prefer.
Love to make but definitely not to share all for me and me and me I'm off work this ST PATRICKS day 2023so I know what I'm making to celebrate
Yess! Love it 👌
YAY!
Love the recipe and am eager to try it. Only complaint is the camera work is a bit frustrating. Referring to kneading the dough with your hand but you can only see him from the elbows up!
Wow these look great! :D
Thanks! Very tasty! :)
Was salt in the potato water? No salt was added to the dough otherwise. Maybe salted butter?
Sooooooo I don't have a Dutch oven. But I do happen to have some pretty deep baking tins. Any tips on how long I should bake the rolls for?
That should work just fine. Keep an eye on them and if the are nicely browned before the time is up, just take them out. :)
Im supposed to be studying for my exams now but since im a major procrastinator, im watching this lol
Woohoo!
Hello Donal how are you
are the mashed potatoes just plain potatoes or do they have butter etc in them?
Shachi Phene Just plain but won't do any harm if there's butter in them! :)
Mercy! Cheese and bread!
I don't have a casserole pot :/can I still make this recipe in a Pyrex cooking tray?
***** You sure can!
Amazing!!! :o
Thanks!
In the recipe, it says to keep the mashed potatoes warm. What if they are made the day before and kept in the fridge, would that work the same or do they need to be fresh?
+easilyamused20 it should work if it's room temperature
+easilyamused20 it should work if it's room temperature
Halfway through making these right now. Here goes...
May i know what's the name of the background music please?
It's called 'The Crosses of Annagh, The Humors of Tulla, The Cup of Tea.' Weird name right?
If I were to dissolve the yeast in the milk first, would it work the same?
Haven't tested it but should be ok! Hope you like them!
do you have to use active yeast? cant you use regular yeast and activate it with water or?
Julie van Mierlo Yep should be fine!
The recipe says to froth the yeast and water used to boil the potato but I didn't see you do it in the video. can we skip that step then?
Nana Aziz Yep you can just do it how I did in the video. :)
Do you pronounce the letter H "Haitch?" These rolls look delicious btw.
"We don't just eat potatso". Adds potato into the dough :D
That's a fair point... LOL!
