I spend big money every week at Menards. Comparing prices to Home Depot and Menards wins every time. And with the rebates, you can send in expired ones and still get the rebate. I keep a collection and send them in once a year.
Menards claim is that they can build a complete house (to a certain spec) with what they have in stock. They are definitely more of a true hardware store. On a related note, I’ve been using that same 41-inch Masterforce top box and cabinet since 2009 and it has held up fantastic. Definitely recommend them.
The Masterforce tool cabinets are made by Quality Craft, maker of Montezuma. I know, because I lost a key for my Masterforce and had to contact Quality Craft for a replacement.
Hello Bear, I work as a service tech for a home improvement retailer that sells the Ego line and I have to say, i have never seen so many failures of equipment within 2 years in my life. These products fail quickly.
Since they have had their seemingly never ending 11% off sale it seems the prices have increased to make up for the rebate. Then there is the issue that if someone goes in to buy less than $10.00 worth of items what is the point of submitting the rebate since it has to be mailed in, and a stamp costs 50 cents.
I've had the Masterforce 41" toolbox for over a year now and it's been great. I had originally planned to buy a US General 44", but the Masterforce seems to be way better quality. My only complaints is that it has fewer drawers than the US General, but the drawers are deeper and taller, so you do get more cubic inches of storage overall. I paid about $100 more than if I had gone with the US General, but I think it was worth the extra cost.
The US General lies. It's 42 inches and 44 with the damn handle on. If you DO NOT PLAN on buying a us general top DO NOT BUY a us general bottom box. There is not a tool box on the planet that is 42x22, the closet I've found that's not us general is 38x18 and that's a masterpiece box top. -former Harbor Freight employee.
Spoke with a store associate last week, they said their Black Friday is going to be a one week event starting after thanksgiving, and I noticed these deals end 11/25, so another video may be in order! Especially since menards is known in my neck of the woods as having the biggest and craziest Black Friday deals in the area and this catalog didn’t impress me too much.
I bought a Menards Masterforce side cabinet. If there were any problems - the documentation sent me to “qualitycraft.ca” which makes Montezuma tool boxes and chests. The instructions to change the lock were also from Montezuma. Menards also sells tool chest/cabinets under the Performax brand. Performax is Menards in house brand that is less expensive than Masterforce. I do not know who makes Performax.
Menards also sells Craftsman boxes and cabinets. Stanley Black & Decker sells those.
So the Hong Kong Company Chervon makes the Skil ,Kobalt and Masterforce for the box stores . Now maybe these fools will quit saying its private labeled by Makita, Ryobi etc.
Menards is more built around building materials rather than tools. Home depot and Lowes don't even hold a candle in that category, but again menards kinda lacks in tool variety
Yeah, especially with power tools. The biggest brands they carry are Bosch and Black and Decker. They have a lot of good tool accessory type of stuff though.
I mean the master force tools aren’t bad, especially if you only need it occasionally, I’d rather spend a fraction of the price for a tool I use every now and then, rather than the expensive brands, now if I was a contractor or someone who uses tools on a daily basis, probably not, I work at menards in outside yard and order pickup, so sometimes we use the power tools and I must say there pretty good for the price
I don't think this is their actual Black Friday ad, this has mostly their 11% rebate stuff with a couple black friday deals. I'm not sure if they are doing a regular black friday sale this year.

Two days ago I bought the Evolution R185SMS+ 7-1/4" miter saw (for its metal cutting capabilities). I have been saving my rebate coupons for a few months. Brought my out-the-door price down from $199 to $75. I save up my rebate receipts until I have $50-75 worth and then send them in. And even though I only paid $75 for the saw, I got a rebate receipt for $22 (11% of $199).
Take power tools out of the equation and Menard's destroy's Lowe's and Home Depot by almost any metric, especially price and randomness of useful supplies. They have way more of a neighborhood hardware store feel than HD
this isn’t the actually black friday ad, I work at a menards and they’re doing a 10 day sale sort of thing I believe. I think there will still be sales on black friday too
This popped up in my feed 10 months later, but still very informative. I have wondered who makes Menards tools. I am 15 minutes away from one with a Home Despot along the way. I always find Menards prices better, even before the 11% rebate. And, yes, it is in the form of a store credit redeemed in the store, after mailing in a receipt and simple form. They are very efficient and prompt at processing them. They don't expire and you can use part of it, using the balance later, like a gift card. For me, they always get redeemed so I don't lose out.
Most of the Menard's brand (Masterforce) hand tools are made by Apex Tool Group and their power tools are made by Chervon. Most would put them in a prosumer category, good enough for professionals but more geared towards consumers. I haven't had a complaint with any Masterforce tools and I've just about phased out every tool I used to own with them.
Menards isn't just a store its a Holy experience if your not near one make a pilgrimage to visit you will not be disappointed! Like Lowes, Tractor Supply, and Walmart all in one.
Actually the hand tools are made by the brand JS Proucts inc. I work at a menards and the handtools/sockets come in js product inc labeled boxes. Not sure if js is a sub of apex or not. They also have some tools, like their tape measures, that are made by komelon, and some of their utility knifes are made by both, Stanley and Olympia tools, Their hammers are made by Vaughan.
I first learned of Menards in the early 2000s and have been a fan ever since. It’s my goto store for home improvement supplies. The only time I don’t go to Menards is toward the end of the year when HD has black friday sales, but the rest of the year I get most everything at Menards.
I'm immediately impressed by Menard's strategy, indicated by that map. That intense grouping of stores makes for great synergies they need to compete and thrive. First, Good Housekeeping, using US Gov. data finds that the average distance moved away from Mom and Dad is 18 miles, with 11 moves in a lifetime. So people in these areas crossing State or County lines will likely find a very familiar shopping experience, Menard's. Second. Keeping good people in the company is also easier for the same reason. If you want a promotion, it's close if not immediately available in your store, or district. Third. Likewise, Distribution drivers in the company can drive a reliable route, and reasonably be home, while supplying a multibillion dollar company. This means a great deal to employee satisfaction. HEB in San Antonio has $25b in annual sales with a total distribution footprint of 150,000 sq. miles. Only 60% of Texas. No route driver at HEB has to spend any time away from home, in SA. Menards' map very much reminds me of that graphic. Forth. Competition penetration is dubious. the 2 bigger companies have a headache with so many stores from #3 crowding them. I recall grocery chains 3x HEBs' size which moved out of Central Texas in the 80's. Simply cannot compete. The overall result is good customer, good employee, good management relationships. Now, they just have to work on the human factor, and not screw it up. That reputation I cannot comment on, I've never seen a Menard's that I'm aware of. I hear good things at school, here in classes at YTU.
When it comes to building materials Menards beats the other two big box stores no problem. Now when it comes to tools the others may have Menards beat. That is up for debate. I have a lot of masterforce hand tools and cordless tools. They have served me well.
The rebate is only good for use in-store, but the rebate checks/merchandise credit checks/whatever don't expire. I was there 3 days ago and watched a guy with $790 worth of floor tiles use multiple rebate checks (some were pretty tattered) to knock the cost down to... $18 out the door. Not $180. $18.
My wife told me to add "Menards within 4 miles" to our retirement home purchase requirements. Problem is; Menards is a cold weather store. They need to migrate further south.
Thanks for the info on Masterforce. I was always wondering if these were good or just discount knock offs. i am in Menards at least twice a week. You should see Fleet Farm. Take Menards and add a Basspro.
Did you say casper?! As in casper, wy? Thats awesome.... my hometown and my go to for pretty much all supplies. They have everything there ! Big fan of the channel!
Menards is a great store. Great place for pet food too. As far as Black Friday ads go they in past have had a sale good for 6AM to 12PM Black Friday then a 3 day sale for rest of weekend.
While I don't own any Master Force power tools, I'll definitely be checking into them if/when Porter Cable completely goes away. Performax (another brand mentioned in the TTI lawsuit) is also a Menards brand. I have several of the Performax 20" 3 drawer tool boxes living in my race car trailer. At around $50(regular price), they're comparable to, but I think better than, the low end Craftsman 20" boxes. Apex has produced Master Force hand tools for years. They used to be made in Texas but have since moved overseas. They're still high quality tools but the prices haven't come down at all.
Haven't done any Masterforce cordless, but I've had their corded power planer for several years now and it hasn't let me down. as far as their tank of a toolbox: as far as I'm concerned there isn't a better toolbox on the market in that price range!
People who don't have Menards near them are really missing out. Sometimes I go just to find things I don't need. 😂 Also, if the rebate thing says Online, they have to accept it legally. You can get the rebate for things you buy online, but can only use the rebate credit in store.
Only masterforce tool I own is a trim router, needed a cheap one for occasional use and it is actually pretty well made, especially for the 30 I paid for it.
Menards has huge building materials selection, but their treated lumber is wet like a sponge and dimensionally is all over the place but they carry nice cedar boards. The quality of some of their brands can be suspect, like their prehung doors, outdoor furniture etc. their bag concrete brand was called all star and it was junk but dirt cheap. Great selection of screws and hardware. Plumbing and electrical is great. Appliances not so much but they have a few. Their online order process hasn’t caught up to Lowe’s. Overall a good store but I have found what’s good at each box store that I stick to. For my area RP lumber is go to for treated.
Bro I have the masterforce 41" and they are so so nice I love the pull out work area on the top cabinet so when you get the top cabinet you don't lose the work space of the top of the box very high quality they actually use thicker gauge sheet metal then most companies
I like Menards for things like insulating my garage and lumber, but not as much for tools although I did get a couple Knipex pliers on sale there. They also have a Toolshop brand that is like the cheaper Harbor Freight line, don't buy their cheap clamps though! They also sell Bosch, Craftsman and some other brands too. The 11% though is a pain and takes awhile to get your credit.
Hi there, Mr. Bear! LOL. I have a video suggestion, if I may? I see all kinds of tests to failure of ratchets, sockets, wrenches, etc, where the use of cheater bar is required to make that happen. 99% of the time that means very little because you aren't ever really supposed to use a pipe on the end of a tool. People do it, but you should really go get a breaker bar instead of busting up your nice ratchet. IMHO where the rubber meets the road is not whether or not it will break when you use it, because all of them will pass pretty much, if they are used BY HAND. The real test is how the tool actually fits the fastener; the tolerances for fit the tool is made to. I would love to see a video comparing THIS, as I think it would be more of a real world comparison. Do the cheaper tools fit as well as the more expensive ones?
Wish we had a Menards out here... they are also big in O-gauge toy trains.. they have their own line of buildings and structures, classic style track and rolling stock.
You should do a DoT battery comparison... almost every tool battery looks almost identical (except Ryobi) but are any compatible (or modifiable) Good looking stuff! Wish I was closer to a Menards!
The tools are ODM. Menards can bid out a run of tool as frequently as ever six month so Chevron could make a certain tool and Bosch Could make another.
@The Den of Tools. Thanks Red for the info on Menards. What??? A Walmart and Home Depot under one roof? Do they have a wall that goes all the way up separating the two? Can I expect a nice layer of concrete dust on my groceries? Who hasn't been at a Home Depot and not have a layer of concrete dust over anything they buy that's been on the shelves for a little while? Hope you, Jeff, and your families stay safe and well.
I like some of the MasterForce tool that I have. Some of the slotted screwdrivers havn't held up very well, as the tip is twisted, but I love my MasterForce Vice.
Never knew who made them wow! I know they make performax and masterforce which I have many tools from. Router, sander, pliers. But what about the lower tier brand tool shop? I have loads of tools from tool shop and would like to know who makes them.
Used a master force channel lock brand new on 6 nuts cuz they were metric and i was on the roof at the time and the teeth were totally stripped. Never will buy again. But im not a prosumer either
I bought the 18v line of cordless tools 10 or 12 yrs ago. Maybe longer. Lithium had Jus started coming out. Im just a dyier but have used their tools vigorously. I have ZERO complaints about them but jus recently bought into Kobalt xtr just for the simple fact that the power n speed was jut out dated. Never bought any of the 20v masterforce stuff except their batteries cause they interchange.
I got their small hackzall and the oscillating tool I love their 11% Home Depot matches menards 11% masterforce is awesome there made by chevron the same owners as kobalt from Lowe’s
masterforce toolboxes are great imo. it was the best for the price out of all the stores I went to and tried all the brands I could find. masterforce tools etc are decent too.
Both Kobalt and Masterforce power tools are made by Chevron. The Master force power tools are actually pretty impressive. If I didn't already have Milwaukee and was looking to start, Master force would be a very decent option. They have brushless tolls, unlike Hercules, which keeps teasing it, but never makes good on them.
@@l00nybin I'm talking about the whole brand hand tools including I have kobalt hand tools and they ain't that impressive might as well go for pittsburgh at hf but I have the 24 v brushless tools are great I have 6 of them

Mostly junk don't hold up. Been thru 5 7.25 circular saws finally store quit handling them so no warranty.
Have the masterforce drill/driver and portaband, great tools. menards customer service at my local store is out of this world, Shine on Bear
Shine On!
I have a master force cordless set 20 Volt and a Ryobi 1set 18 volt I like the master force better than the ryobi
Their "Toolshop" brand I swear is Chicago Electric.
Cheap corded drill is horrible
My Toolshop recip saw has almost 20 years of abuse on it.
@@timkaldahl that could very well be a much different deal, not all of their stuff is bad.
As a midwestern Bear fan I love menards. Sometimes their shelf price is better than the other twos prices even with my military discount.
I was in Menards last year in Indiana. that place is huge. just wish they have some in west coast states..
I've had there roll away for about year and love it. Very good quality for the price
that oscillating tool looks just like skil's
Only masterforce tool I own is a trim router, needed a cheap one for occasional use and it is actually pretty well made, especially for the 30 I paid for it.
I didn't know the Den of Tools had a live stream! LOL
I would like to see a video of comparing led shop lights.
I have a commercial account with Menards, love that place.
Would a company like Apex make different quality tools, based on what a company wants to pay?
Of course. Vanity makers always work to their contract and the customer sets the standards.
Wish we had a Menards out here... they are also big in O-gauge toy trains.. they have their own line of buildings and structures, classic style track and rolling stock.
I just saw some of the buildings they have. I don't have a train set but I almost bought the Taco Bell.
And there masterforce tools if u break one they will give you a new one
Chervon used to work at the paymaster office at my old post.
You should do a DoT battery comparison... almost every tool battery looks almost identical (except Ryobi) but are any compatible (or modifiable) Good looking stuff! Wish I was closer to a Menards!
There is an adapter to go from nearly any battery to any tool. You just can't get ryobi to anything else.
The tools are ODM. Menards can bid out a run of tool as frequently as ever six month so Chevron could make a certain tool and Bosch Could make another.
Mr. Bear, do you know who makes Masterforce hand tools,? such as wrenchs, etc? thank you
Most of them are made by Apex
@@denoftools who makes Gearwrench, Craftsmen
@@stevenbetassa7329 Gearwrench is a brand owned by Apex and Kratzmann has their own manufacturing overseas
and one last question, Ive been checking on-line and can't fine anything, and that is Menards moving into Montana or Colo? Thank you Mr Bear.
@@stevenbetassa7329 I WISH! The only plans I've seen are them moving east.
If menards is split in two then I am going to die of laughter right here and now
I like some of the MasterForce tool that I have. Some of the slotted screwdrivers havn't held up very well, as the tip is twisted, but I love my MasterForce Vice.
I just bought the master force 4-in vise and it seems great!
Never knew who made them wow! I know they make performax and masterforce which I have many tools from. Router, sander, pliers. But what about the lower tier brand tool shop? I have loads of tools from tool shop and would like to know who makes them.
How have the Tool Shop tools held up?
@@GeauxFastRacing they do alright since i dont use them that often
Great Video!!! Thank You For The Info!!!! (My favorite store)🤔😃👍😎😁
I love menards its a weekend must for me.
I love the clearance section. I make my rounds there first then go after what I came for if not, I’ll will stay in the store longer than I need to. $$
Every time I see a Masterforce I always mistake it for a Hitachi and I'm always disappointed lol.
Hitachi changed it's name to Metabo. If u want Hitachi, it's now Metabo. They do sell that brand
@@amandataylor4112 I know but I'm still used to saying Hitachi. I can't snap out of it for some reason.
I got their small hackzall and the oscillating tool I love their 11% Home Depot matches menards 11% masterforce is awesome there made by chevron the same owners as kobalt from Lowe’s
This is a normal sale for menards. There black friday is typically better.
They haven"t made it to Tennessee yet.
masterforce toolboxes are great imo. it was the best for the price out of all the stores I went to and tried all the brands I could find. masterforce tools etc are decent too.
The whole masterforce line looks like kobalt the hand tools and power tools
Both Kobalt and Masterforce power tools are made by Chevron. The Master force power tools are actually pretty impressive. If I didn't already have Milwaukee and was looking to start, Master force would be a very decent option. They have brushless tolls, unlike Hercules, which keeps teasing it, but never makes good on them.
@@l00nybin I'm talking about the whole brand hand tools including I have kobalt hand tools and they ain't that impressive might as well go for pittsburgh at hf but I have the 24 v brushless tools are great I have 6 of them
IMO Menards rebate is a joke. It's been 12 weeks since I mailed in my rebate and I have yet to recive it. The clearing house that processes the rebates has tons of complaints on BBB website because people never received their rebate.
yeah, they need to start giving people the rebatefor next time when they checkout!
