I've been playing with the latest version of Community Shaders together with Light placer and PBR textures for some time now and although visuals are much better there are some serious bugs around various components of CS especially for VR. Some of them can be avoided by turning specific features off but some of them needs to be fixed in the code. In my case PBR didn't cause any performnce loss but Light placer did considerably. You mentioned Lux in the video but I think it's light placer. It's actually based on vanilla lightning system and replacement for Lux and all ENB light stuff.

VRAMR or cathedral assets optimizer (or combination of both) are a must to play on any decently high settings without getting vram related crashes on a 12gb card in my experience. VRAMR will bring vram usage down about 1gb using the quality preset, which you pretty much won't notice graphics wise. However I've used a combination of VRAMR quality preset AND CAO on my game and you can get the vram usage down to an insanely low 7 or 8 gb while maintaining most of the beauty of the modpack and greatly improving performance and load times. That requires using vramr to work its magic on the base game textures and cathedral assets optimizer to bring all of the mod textures down to 1024x1024. ( I don't suggest using CAO to unpack base game textures and optimize them). Using CAO to compress everything to 2048x2048 textures does look noticeably better than 1024x1024 but you'll still hover 10 gb of vram after that and get a good bit less performance and slower load times. Are there any definitive guides per card, or is it just tweaking things until its playable? Also, is more than one ssd required, or can you create the folder on the root drive outside the programs folder?
I'm on a 4070 as well and the performance was just too rough. I just about decided to dismiss Skyrim VR completely and then I decided to try the FUS wabbajack and having actual 90fps makes it so I am actually enjoying it. I'm finally getting the "WOW I'm in virtual Skyrim" that everyone describes.
@@CadilakCoupe virtual desktop is a software thr you install on the quest, to connect the headset to your pc (you need also a streamer app on your pc). People connect it through (normally) a wifi6 or 6E router which is dedicated to the headset. The space required is around 400GB…
@VRDaD This is the part that confuses me. Is Rift Link not sufficient as this was my original method of getting it to work. Used Rift Link, switched to desktop display, and launched via a Wabba shortcut I placed on my desktop.
@michaelb2305 Does FUS sacrifice the beauty for the performance? Does it have the AI component that allows communication with the NPC's, and would you recommend it?
@ I recommend FUS for a more vanilla experience. Is no way close graphically to MGO. I don’t think it has AI as well. But it is very stable, performs well on lower end systems and has all the QoL improvements that are needed for an excellent Skyrim VR experience.
If you download the new modlist file and direct wabbajack to your original 3.0 downloads folder when installing 3.5 it should grab what it needs from there and download everything else it needs to install the new modpack.
There is one HUGE problem with these mind-blowing mods: They are made for the absolute enthusiast who doesn't settle for less than the absolute best. But here lies the problem. Being this type of enthusiast doesn't allow for enjoying something (no matter how good it is) knowing there is something better out there. I see people mentioning various tweeks and virtual desktop (maybe im stupid but i still dont know what this is - an ACTUAL virtual desktop or a program for vr?) and all this. I tried doing research for a few hours and became overwhelmed with all the information. Everybody seems to run fine on 4070ti's or 4070 supers, but unfortunately, i am running a base 4070.
But it is very stable, performs well on lower end systems and has all the QoL improvements that are needed for an excellent Skyrim VR experience.
sorry don´t have a RTX 5090 XD
@@rentaroanaka419 me neither 😅
vram at least 12 required
the more the better...
Is there an easy way to upgrade MGO 3.0 to 3.5? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall from scratch?
If you download the new modlist file and direct wabbajack to your original 3.0 downloads folder when installing 3.5 it should grab what it needs from there and download everything else it needs to install the new modpack.
Will it then work with an existing 3.0 savefile?
Thanks!
No! You need a new save file unfortunately.
@@VRDaD- thanks for the confirmation.
It’s not worth starting over again for the weather, 3.0 looks good & plays well.
@@RolandDobbins yes. 3.0 is excellent
There is one HUGE problem with these mind-blowing mods: They are made for the absolute enthusiast who doesn't settle for less than the absolute best. But here lies the problem. Being this type of enthusiast doesn't allow for enjoying something (no matter how good it is) knowing there is something better out there. Looking at the maddening frequency with which this god-tier mod here gets updated, I simply don't dare to start a run since I know the mod will be updated within a few weeks which means I will no longer be able to enjoy my walkthrough (knowing I am no longer playing the best version). If it's possible to always just update from your version to the newest one that's fine but that's not always the case.
@@lohan0903 I feel you. Restarting once again was a pain for me too 😂 BUT was totally worth it. I think we are reaching a point where save files that break is finishing and updating will be easier….or at least I hope so😅 alternatively, just do a play through and ignore future updates.
@@VRDaD "alternatively, just do a play through and ignore future updates." If only it were that simple. 😂
I don't like seasons I will stay at 3 0 0
@@Blightmydudes ok 👍🏻 3.0 is fantastic as well!!!
The colors look so bad.. I don’t get why people want their skyrim to look like willy wonka’s chocolate factory.. all the colors are so heavily saturated.. not for me, sorry.
@@freekjansen8451 personal preference I guess? There are other mod lists that give you a more vanilla experience if you like that. I would recommend FUS in that case.
That was exactly what i thought. Those blurry shiny colours is not Skyrim anymore.
I agree with you. The MGO is amazing but we want more realistic colors, not the vanilla.
Heavy saturation seem to be addicting to some (my guess). Look at all the kids-songs with 100M views on YT.
@@SlyHaku the thing is it depends on weather! Sometimes there are scenes that are completely natural looking and sometimes those a bit more colorful . I like colorful more because I live in the grey UK...
Your title is everything wrong with VR.
I don't think I understand...my title? or my video's title? also...what's wrong with VR?
