    Brentford fan here, the recruitment has historically been excellent but it feels like it was suited for unearthing gems who could cut it at a high championship/low prem level. We’re in a tricky situation now where to go to the next level over summer we went for players like Gonzalez from Fiorentina or Bakayoko from PSV. We have the financial muscle to sign players but lack the prestige to tempt players from established European clubs. Feels like we’re in a rush to make European competition which is leading to missing out on targets. The injury crisis has also made it seem a lot worse than it probably is

    To be fair to the Newcastle fans; in the prelude to revealing the result you made it sound like the majority of them thought Howe SHOULD be sacked but the question as written is asking them if they think he's in danger of it. So the results are the fans feelings on what the board might do rather than their own opinion.
    As to the VAR question, I think the majority of fans are in the boat of supporting the idea of VAR but also believing it needs a complete reboot. I'd be interested to see the results of that question with three options tbh.

    As a west ham fan, im very split around david moyes. We have got some good results this season, and winning the conference was unforgettable. But west ham are one of the worst teams to watch in the prem, boring defensive football and sometimes an over reliance on set pieces. Theres also a real frustration about the lack of chances for youth players despite having one of the strongest under 21 and 23 teams, as well as a lack of subsitutions leading to player fatigue. Personally I think Moyes has done enough to stay and even get a new contract, but there is a real air of frustration especially with big losses to Fulham and Liverpool in the carabo and most recenlty Bristol City

    • @vizual7390
      @vizual7390 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. The youth players might not have impressed enough, but Danny Ings shouldn’t be starting. He gets stick for not rotating but when he does it ends up in horrific losses (Bristol, Liverpool).

    • @taylorthompson2067

      What's frustrating for me, especially after the Sheffield game. Is that no matter how good or bad the opposition is, we have as equal chance of winning or losing. Literally we can beat Spurs or arsenal, bring a good game to man city, Liverpool. But lose to Bristol city, Sheffield United or any other shit team. There's no consistency or confidence. And there's nothing dominant about it. Seems like a 50/50 every game.

    As a West Ham fan from what resources we’ve had this season I’m relatively happy with the performances and especially our position in the table but it’s not really my cup of tea the way that we are playing, we need a younger manager who can breathe new life into this club and play more open and expansive football and we’ve got the players in which we can do that, Ward-Prowse has amazing passing range, Paqueta is so skilful, Kudus is rapid, add faster and younger Full-Backs and a Goalkeeper who can play out from the back and we can be that club.

    As a Brentford fan, since we got to the premier league our recruitment has been very poor. Most of the good signings we made were signed while we were in the championship. Since we got to the premier league we have struggled to get signings over the line as I believe more clubs are weary of our recruitment and increase their valuation. We have had one first team left back since we came up and a lot of the signings we have brought in have not been as good as we hoped.

    West Ham fan here. In my opinion, we're grateful for Moyes getting us to where he's gotten us to. But I think the reason some want him gone comes in two parts. Firstly, like Mourinho at Tottenham, unless we win a title (which we won't for reasons ill get to in point 2) we'd rather pay to watch football brimming with the skills of paqueta and co. than a defensive snoozefest each week. We football fans watch football for the beauty of the game, not for a defensive 1pt/lucky 3pts. Secondly, Moyes doesn't improve players well or make people he doesn't take to immediately work. This means we play the first XI too much and now this month we're going to begin the fall off due to injuries and everyone else being out of form as he doesnt guve them the chance to gain form in the first place.
    I'd rather us have fun and finish 10th than be boring in 6th 60% of the season and then finish 10th anyway... but I'm happy to be proven wrong ;)

    I don't get the Trent to midfield shout, the whole reason he is able to flourish at present is because he is able to come into the middle from the right and Liverpool can over-run the middle and give Trent the time he needs in order to pick the passes and dictate play. Removing that and starting him in the middle and getting a RB places much more pressure on him to not only create, but also play as a Klopp midfielder, meaning he needs to doggedly press and fight for second balls and also leaves us much more open to being overrun in the middle or at least allowing teams to mark the midfielders man-for-man and limit their output
    He is basically already playing midfield and has the entire system built around trying to make him the most effective player on the pitch, why move him

    Newcastle fan here - the gap is getting bigger every year, factually. Because of FFP, you can spend your revenue, the big clubs have MUCH more revenue, so every single season they can just literally spend more than everyone smaller. There’s only one way this can go - the gap can only get bigger. We have to hope for clubs like Chelsea, who manage their club so badly that they somehow implode, despite having every advantage. The challenge for clubs wanting to become ‘big’ is that they now have to triple their revenue and how can you do that when every sponsorship deal etc is scrutinised?
    I actually think finances should be more restricted then even FFP restricts them overall, but the current system of rewarding clubs who have historic revenues does not work if we want to foster competition. It’s anti-competitive and it’s not just about the top 6, it’s also about the Prem getting bigger than the Championship. You can’t compete when Prem clubs get given 100m revenue for free just by being in the league. The football league is dying and nobody talks about it. Almost every club in the Championship is at risk of dying financially. Disaster waiting to happen imo.

      I agree, should probably limit spending on transfers or wages to the same amount in all English leagues. Whilst giving more distribution to lower leagues.

      @tajj7 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      FFP 100% is not about stopping clubs going bankrupt, it is about protecting the elite clubs, it was pushed by the likes of Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal because Man City and Chelsea have pushed their way into the trophies, money, etc. and they don't like it, they want to keep their unfair advantage. It's exactly why they don't want Newcastle doing the same. Super League idea is to do the same as well, it's Barca and Real unable to compete with PL teams and not wanting to facing more PSGs and Man Citys The Champions league basically does the same, you finish higher up, you get Champions league, you get more money you can spend more money on transfers and wages, thus you will keep finishing higher up. The Champions league completely breaks many European leagues because the revenue it gives those few clubs dwarfs what anyone in the domestic league can earn so it perpetuates the success cycle over and over. IIRC when Ajax got to the Champions League semi-finals, their revenue that year was 20 TIMES higher than the bottom teams in the Eredivisie. The gap is less big in the PL because all PL clubs get huge amounts of money so its less problematic but they still struggle to close the gap.
      Of course everyone can argue about gulf states with dodgy human rights records funding clubs and there is certainly a moral argument to be made about Newcastle, Man City and PSG, BUT why is there anything wrong with clubs spending to catch up with the big boys if they can do it? What was wrong with Blackburn in 94 with Jack Walkers money competing with Liverpool, Arsenal and Utd? Nothing except those clubs don't want real competition they want to keep their exclusive money train.
      If you want real competition then you have a Europe wide salary cap and spending cap for clubs and people can't outspend that. You will then create better competitions because it will be about good scouting, good coaching, good youth set ups, good management etc. as to who wins things, as opposed to now where its basically amongst the teams who spend the most.

      @@darreltan1694 Spurs main growth was from 1. Stadium (Newcastle are exploring this but its highly complex and extremely expensive) 2. Broadcast revenue from the Prem and CL (you have to get in to the CL while competing at a disadvantage) 3. Commercial revenue from massive sponsorship leaps, which Newcastle are doing to some extent via Sela etc but this is now heavily monitored and you can’t just do these kind of huge jumps without the justification of something like being in the CL
      I agree conceptually that it can be done, but you are doing it at more of a disadvantage than ever before

    • @darreltan1694
      @darreltan1694 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@daledadolphin i think newcastle could easily get competitive - and faster than ENIC/Spurs did. The main limitation with spurs plan was that ENIC was still chiefly concerned with profitability even disregarding FFP. This meant when we were building the stadium and training facilities, we had to take a loan and couldn't spend much on transfers.
      But costs for a new stadium and training facilities don't technically fall under FFP - and so Newcastle's ownership could easily spend freely there to increase revenue. Its just the first few years Newcastle can't spend as much as the top clubs. But they can still spend more than Spurs did when we were building our stadium since your owners should be less concerned with immediate profits.

They have also had a lot of injuries, a lot of the players on their bench are players I have never heard of and in previous seasons Frank has used a lot of substitutes to great effect which have been harder this season. And of course, missing Toney has been tough for them. I'm not that worried for them.

    I'm a West Ham, I think the 25% of fans are kind of the school of "We want to play good attacking football" ala the "West Ham way" as our kind of setup is counter attacking, with a low-block, we generally do well in this system, why we can be competitive a lot vs the Top 6 in matches, but sometimes lacklustre in other games, maybe they look at how Villa or Brighton play and have success and are envious.
    I obviously believe we should stick with a man who has made us a consistent team and won us a trophy, I have no idea who else we could get, if there is a long term vision from the board I'd favour an appointment but in reality our board never had much of a long term vision with our style of play, they've had to chop and change managers consistently, sometimes making the wrong appointment at the wrong time - I think all West Ham fans have a long term vision we can just play good attacking football and be in the top 6, this isn't realistic, we can have 1 off great seasons, but Moyes has not had a single bad season with us yet, one time we struggled in the League, we won a Trophy.
    In truth we're good at Set Pieces, Counter attacking football, defending in a low block and rely heavily on Paqeuta, Bowen, Antonio (And this season, Kudos) and lot of them are injured or away at the moment, think we definitely should be giving Moyes another 3 year contract, if it goes tits up next season can always sack him, Managers aren't the most expensive assets.

    Last season was a relegation battle, yes he saved it by going attacking but lord above last season was shit. Conference league win hides the cracks which are CLEAR AS DAY. Moyes is a rescue manager but he can’t kick us on into challenging for Europe.
    Problem is the style of play and a tendency to show the opposition too much respect. I can deal with the sitting back and countering but with the amount of money thats been put into the squad, I’m tired of potentially world class players being shit under his system

    They got to a European Semi final,
    then won a European trophy.
    Going strong in Europe again this season.
    Up in the European positions again this season.
    After losing one of their best (if not their best). 100m doesn't go as far as people think these days either, they still need some bodies in every position.
    I think he has a permanent stain from his United, sociedad and Sunderland days.
    He came in saved west Ham, relegation to sixth (with a club record wins tally in the prem - including a club record 9 away wins) then they got rid of him for someone "better" then had to bring him back and he's got them in the mix at the top again.
