    The vent under the speaker in the back is the relief vent for when the AC is in fresh air mode. If the Niro is like most modern cars, there are flapper air valves behind the rear bumper that actually let the fresh air out of the cabin. The vent below the speaker would provide an air path from the cabin to the flapper valve.
    You can do a tissue test to check this. Just close all the doors, put the AC in fresh air mode and hold a tissue up to the vent. If the tissue gets sucked up to the vent then you know that’s how the fresh air gets out the car.
    BTW, I liked your videos. I have had my Niro EV a few months but I saw a few things I didn’t know about in your videos.

    It may be well know to others but my salesman did not know that the luggage area cover could be stored under the floor. To do that, you have to remove the floor panel to the right of the lift up cover. It is removable by lifting on the inner edge.
    Storing the cover does take up most of the room under the first third of the floor panel.

      Great catch! I did not know, but now that you mention it, it should have been obvious with the opening on the left side of the trunk. I will be sure to make a video that includes this info. Thank you!

    I looked again and the Homelink mirror is an option on the EX Premium. I didn't think any car called Premium would come without that feature and it isn't even shown as an option on the EX.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, it is not available in the EX, only the premium. The US version is "missing" lots of options that need to be added when compared to the Canadian version that includes it all.

    You might have addressed this on your later videos - I've only watch about 7 - do the rear seats recline? Particularly interested in US version as I am in TX.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They fold flat to make the trunk very large, but they don't recline for the rest passengers, like front seats do. The EV6 has reclining rear seats.

    It is funny to see you have a traditional tire pressure gauge in your console. I used to have one too (in the exact same location!), until I found out that the Niro has a tire pressure display on the dashboard. :--D

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pressure monitor in the screen of the car is nice to keep an eye on pressure, but when you adjust the tire pressure regularly, depending on the weather, you need a gauge. Going to see the screen after adding or removing air is not convenient.

    On Uk car Spec you can change drive mode on the centre console without having to go into the infotainment screen. (left hand button to the rear) Also (sorry if you have mentioned this) if, as above you click. down to '3'and continue to press and it will go into 'ECO+'

    Great vid, thanks. I'm thinking about getting the EX, however only the SX has the heat pump. Would you happen to know if it's possible to have the heat pump installed by a third party?

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much. Having the heat pump installed as a retrofit is probably possible, but not feasible and would probably cost the difference between the EX and SX. That plus the fact the EX is very handicapped for many other features, I would strongly recommend the SX Touring version. If the SX is not in budget then you should consider the Kona Electric Preferred because this base version Hyundai comes with pretty much everything you need, including the heat pump.

    Just picked up my Niro EV 2020 and Wow what a great car and love it. One area I still do not know much info is what ECO CLIMATE actually does, does it disable the heating mode or other modes? I can not find any info in the manual or internet. A video showing how the climate control works in each mode ECO or Normal would be fantastic. Love your videos and keep up the good work. I am forever grateful for all the fantastic work you have done on these videos. And I am in Montreal. :-) Bonjour.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations and thank you very much for the kind words! The climate control is normal when in Normal and Sport modes. When in ECO the power of the climate control is reduced, so the fan is not as powerful. When in ECO+ the climate control is turned off. I will try to stick this subject into a future video 🙂 Thanks again!

      But in the ECO mode, can the heater work? I find I had to manually turn it on in ECO mode to warm up the cabin. It seemed that in auto it would not heat.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@romanmelnyk-ve2rmj979 ECO mode will only reduce the power of the HVAC system. If you are in ECO mode and you set the HVAC system to AUTO it will heat or cool depending on the temperature you have set. If you set temp to 20 and it is already 20 in the car you will not get heat.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, will do. Until then, just so you know, there are 2 "trip" odometers; One is called Accumulated Info and the other is called Drive Info. When you select them on the center gauge cluster, then press and hold the OK button on the steering wheel, it resets them to 0. This same method can be used to reset the Driving Style display in the same location.

      In the US market, it is not available on the Niro EV. I doubt anyone will attempt a refit until these start showing up in junkyards. There are a few questions that will need to be answered by anyone who attempts a refit: Does the wiring connector/harness exist inside the door panel already? Does the feature require activation in the BCM? If so, can it be activated on a USDM BCM? If not, will a Canadian BCM work in a USDM model or will that cause problems? But again, unlikely anyone will attempt this refit for a few years.

    Quick question.
    We live in the Netherlands.
    We have four models Kia e-Niro
    Comfort-Line
    Dynamic-Line
    DynamicPlus-Line
    And finaly the most expensive,
    Executive-Line.
    The Executive-Line is equipped with wireless charging.

    Hi there! My wife just took delivery of a niro ev last week and we’re both pretty green (pun intended🙄) about the electric vehicle scene....Do you set both ac and dc battery charging to the same level and why? We did not have to charge the vehicle yet and for now both settings are 80%. Thanks for any input (?🤦🏻‍♂️) you might have ✌🏻Thanks for taking the time , i appreciate it!

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations on your new Niro EV! The basics for charging levels are as follows...
      1) DC Fast Charging (DCFC) should be set to 80%. The reason is because the charge speed drops above 80% and not only will it cost more, but you would be blocking a DCFC spot that another user may need more than you since you already have 80%.
      2) AC L2 Charging. Staying between 20% and 80% is the golden rule for any battery, but electric cars generally have buffers above and below the max and min levels you can access. I charge my Niro EV to 90% maximum unless I will be going on a long trip the following day, then I charge to 100%.
      Also to note, it is important to charge your car to 100% occasionally (once per month), to allow the battery management system (BMS) to balance the cells in the car. Charging to 100% is not bad for the battery, leaving it at 100% for a long time is the issue, so charge to 100% and use it the next day to drop it to 90% or less.
      With that being said, these cars have excellent warranties and the battery is well managed. There are some users who always charge to 100% and don't seem to have issues. Does this mean that they will still have 100% state of health (SoH) after 2 or 3 years, I am not sure, but I would guess that they would lose a bit more maximum capacity than I would since I only charge to 90%. Essentially don't be afraid to use your car as Kia intended and if you want to maximize your battery life then set AC to 80% or 90% like me, and DC to 80%. I did make videos about public charging as well as home charging so those may be of interest to you.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only way to disable the backup beep would be to unplug the external speaker that makes the sound. It is important to note that if you are in a country where VESS (pedestrian warning sound) is required by law then disabling the speaker will also disable the VESS and make your car illegal; verify your local laws before attempting this.

      50 miles away form the nearest charger!!! 😮 That is a real shame, but the hybrid is still an excellent car and you will still polute less than a pure gas car so you are good until the infrastructure catches up 🙂

      @EV-olution  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much, and thanks for watching. You are correct, and it is not only the UK model. If the e-Niro does not have the memory seat option, then the tilting wing mirrors is not possible. Over the last year of having my channel I have come to learn that Kia is making so many different versions of the e-Niro, it is quite ridiculous. You would think that they would make them almost all the same for economies of scale.

    hi, How big is a difference between EX and SX? thanks

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello. If you are asking about the Canadian version then there are signifigant differences. The EX does not have the battery heater (Winter Mode), the heat-pump, lane keep assist, pedestrian warning, rear cross traffic alert, smart cruise control, heated seats, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, premium sound system, leather seats, sun roof, etc. The list of missing features is quite long, but there is also a 10,000$ savings. I mention some of the differences in my last video about the Kona Electric vs the Niro EV. I hope this helps.

    Another not so known feature is to go into EV, CO2 savings and then you can find your energy consumption per trip. Poorly translated straight from Dutch the menu reads fuel consumption which is a bit of a misnomer. Another bit of fossil car legacy is when you turn on or off the car and go into one of the modes where you can't drive but can use auxiliary systems like AC and radio; a warning will pop up warning you that the battery is draining without the engine running. Lastly there is this function called utility mode which is useful if you want to use the car as a camper and prevents accidental activation of the drive train. I could go on but maybe some other time :)

    • @EV-olution

      My wife's 2019 Soul EV is in French, she just called me to ask me about how to charge at a public L3 charger and was confused because the EV map was telling her to go to a "gas station". I guess the translation is an issue in many languages!

    • @peterbodifee
      @peterbodifee 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My understanding is that the infotainment (incl Radio) uses the auxiliary battery. Which will drain, as it doesn't have much capacity. However the aux battery can be recharged with the HV battery used for driving (See settings>other>Aux.Battery Saver+) But the car needs to be indeed on ('engine running', haha) to activate the HV battery system. You are right this warning is definitely caused by using components/sub-systems from non EV models.
