    By far this is the best video showing how to replace this part. I’ve seen so many videos that tell you how to do it but yours is the only one I have found that actually shows how to do it thank you very much

    I would suggest that you could have saved some money by not replacing the solenoid. I have the exact same tractor as yours and it was just clicking just like yours. I removed the solenoid just like you did in the video but all I did was clean up the two main wire connections and re-installed the solenoid. The tractor starts like new - problem solved. I liked your video because it gave me the idea to just clean the terminals.

      That may have worked but for 10$ I'll replace it. This was a mower I was fixing to sell. People like it when there is new parts on them. Thanks for watching!

      I had one that did not even click. I drilled a very tiny hole through the metal cap where the electromagnet lives and put Penetrating oil inside the thing. It now works fine. I have another one that the test light fired right up when connected to the small spade clip. I put a small momentary switch in the circuit and it fires right up. I always save parts in the stash and free stuff is better than spending money. The satisfaction of diagnosis and repair cannot be underestimated

    • @ablgarage
      @ablgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would think it would be the brake/clutch switch. It has to be pushed in to start the mower. You would get a clicking noise of some kind of it was the starter solenoid.

    Thank you for your EXCELLENT video contribution to the DIY community. If I may suggest to your viewers (and provide further assistance), I would like to suggest them to check the voltage coming to the solenoid terminal (the one that is not grounded) to ensure that the starter switch is not defective and actually a 12V voltage is present on the quick connect terminal prior to the solenoid removal and replacement. They can simply use a voltmeter or a small 12V bulb to make sure that actually the current would be supplied to the solenoid when the user cranks the starter switch position, and then proceed to the starter solenoid replacement if the voltage to the energizing terminal is present. I hate to see after replacing the solenoid they find out that the starter switch is actually defective and not the solenoid. Hope this is helpful to your audience, and God bless you for your initiative to make this video.

    • @ablgarage
      @ablgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the input. You could hear the starter solenoid clicking meaning it's getting power from the ignition key but the solenoid is not closing it's contacts to connect power to the starter.

      Unplug the the two clips under the seat, they unplug very easily and your mower will not stop each time your seat raises up.

    • @ablgarage

      Some of them need jumped together to bypass the seat switch. Some you can just unplug.

    This is a lifesaver. I have a huskee that is pretty much exactly like this lawn mower. Only problem is the bolts holding the solenoid won't come out because the nuts are stuck. Can't get a socket on it because the solenoid blocks it. But I took off way more than I needed to to access it.

    I repaced wirh new starter solenoid and it still clicks. Checked all saftery switches as well but it just clicks. Its like no power to the starter.

    • @ablgarage
      @ablgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's still just clicking I would think your starter may be bad. Could also just be a bad connection. I had one the other day that just clicked and the problem ended up being the starter was bound up on the motor. I had to rotate the motor by hand to get it freed up. If you have an electrical meter check to see if there is 12volts going to the starter when the key is turned to the start position. Hope this helps. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    I forgot to step on the clutch before starting my Troy Bilt Pony mower. Now it won’t start. It had turned on just a minute ago without any issues when I stepped on the clutch. The engine does not crank, but just a click that I can hear from the starter solenoid when trying to start it. The engine fan barely spins when turning it on, but I was able to rotate it when I took the cover off the engine. Spark plug did not have much carbon build up & just did an oil change recently. Any suggestions?
