- The Button is a developer blueprint that teleports you to one of a few select places at random. This speedrun utilizes The Button to teleport me where I need to be to complete it. Due to the RNG nature of this mechanic, it's being discussed whether this method should really be allowed for The Following speedruns.

Definitely using the drop kick/grappling hook technique to avoid laborious swimming
JLB95 It doesn't work in really deep water since the drop kick animation ends before you're able to grapple underwater. But otherwise is a really nice technique yeah.
I as someone that doesn’t speedrun just use the pyza suit to swim faster incase there isn’t an object on the surface for me to grapple hook, I just wanted to say this incase nobody thought of using the pyza suit like that in casual play

This method is still being discussed whether or not it should be allowed in The Following% speedrun category. This is due to the very "luck-based" RNG of The Button, as it teleports you to one of many locations, and I just happened to be really lucky this time.
What if you make it a different category?

I would say this could be its own separate run, from the normal "the following" speed run since its a legit strat, but PURE rng, so its more of a meme run than anything but still valid

What preparation is done before you attempt this run? How are you starting the story from "Find a way out of the sewers" while also having access to The Button?
Alex Schneider if you select "restart from quest" you keep all your items and levels, only the quest and story progression is reset.

That's not a potion, that's the Kuai Dagger I have in my hand. It adds speed stacking up to 10, for every parkour move you perform. This includes sliding, which is why I slide so much in this video.

How do you do the slide thing cuz I’m trying to roam around the map and it’s annoying that all the virals are trying to catch me thanks pluto
I’m spamming the crouch key while I’m running which is basically starting and stopping the slide animation over and over again, which charges the Kuai Dagger and makes me go faster.
