Jin hears "Help !" and he runs as fast as he can to help 🥰🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 At this moment, I remember him in the pilot when he didn't want to interact with anyone, to help anyone, he said he and Sun need to stay apart, that they don't need the other ones... I am so happy of how good the character evolved !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
This is the single best episode of the first season. Every actor that has a speaking role (which I think is everyone but Malcolm David Kelley and Terry O'Quinn) or even a gesture is absolutely at the top of their game in this one. Stellar acting. That little half-step Maggie Grace does when she silently learns the news about Boone guts me every time.
I wonder if you're gonna cry with us soon 😂. That was one of the most touching episodes for me 😢. The contrast between life and death, happiness and sadness. Art. Also the tension in this episode!!! Non stop stress... Just wow.
RIP Boone. He always tried to help his fellow man on the island. Sometimes in a clumsy way by trying to save Johanna, or by hiding the water. But he wanted to help Locke, he wanted Sayid not to suffer from a possible breakup with Shannon and also to make Shannon grow. He was a good guy. 😢
If your friend got severely injured on a hike with you, would you dump him at the emergency and leave without a word? Locke could have behaved like a genuine friend like he was with Charlie or Claire, he could have helped Boone by assisting Jack with treatment, lessened his suffering with the painkiller (heroin) he literally just came across... Every other person had the instinct to stay and help the person in a medical crisis. However, when Locke is consumed by his crisis of faith and his obsession with his "relationship with the island", he interprets endangering the life of a human being as just "a sacrifice the island required". Fundamentally, the story he's writing in his head that he needs to put all his faith in, come hell or high water, takes priority over everything and everyone around him before his very eyes.
I remember the first time round I wasn’t that bothered about Boone n don’t remember caring too much but this time round I was in tears. Mayb because Boone now seems so young to me and he was always volunteering for things and risking his life and being brave and this episode just broke my heart this time round 😢
Yes, perfect timing! I was hoping for that upload to come soon! I just watched your s1ep19 reaction during breakfast (it's 9am in Germany), which was great, but, since I know LOST, ep20 will leave you scarred. Keep up the good work Elie!
I'm truly amazed of your analysis and predictions you make in every episode. You have an amazing eye for details...and the music, the lighting, the camera shots and what the director is trying to convey. Film school was a great choice and I hope you continue to pursue this lane in life. "Big Ups" to you!
@@eliemoses and no need to apologize for pausing and talking about the scenes. This show especially benefits from that review technique. The only part I miss is the amazing score and music.. but I'm glad you're hearing it and talking about it.
EMOTIONAL episode! It's really a 1-2 punch, after the absolutely heartbreaking Locke episode, we get the simultaneously emotional death of Boone and the magical (not literally haha) birth of Claire's baby in this episode! Things are really gonna ramp up from here so get ready!! The ride has really only just begun
You're right that all the main characters had tragic lives before the island. In some cases it was romantic problems, in others it was problems with parents, in others with loss. . . I flip-flop on how much sympathy I have for Locke. He had a miserable life before the island, he has useful skills, and he can be thoughtful, but he's also very self-centered. His belief that the island has special plans for him lead him to abandoning his responsibilities to the group, to keeping secrets when he doesn't have to, even to needlessly endangering people.
Since when? What responsibilities to the group? John Locke doesn’t owe anyone anything. Kate said it correctly in Boone and Shannon’s episode why is he obligated to catch food at everyone’s expense? The part I agree with you on is that Locke should have told Jack how he really got injured. That was selfish and stupid on his part. Jack probably would’ve had a different approach to saving Boone. He could have told everyone about the plane they found and left out the hatch part of the story.
@TJMalana if your friend got severely injured on a hike with you, would you dump him at the emergency and leave without a word? Locke could have behaved like a genuine friend like he was with Charlie or Claire, he could have helped Boone by assisting Jack with treatment, lessened his suffering with the painkiller (heroin) he literally just came across... Fundamentally, the story he's writing in his head that he needs to put all his faith in, come hell or high water, takes priority over everything and everyone around him before his very eyes.
@TJMalana As long as Locke remains with the group... he owes basic responsibilities to them. They all do. That's how you survive. But John's obsession over his 'purpose' is a failing in my eyes. And he owed even more to Boone, as his companion in his secret. After having that 'vision / dream' of a bloody Boone, he should have warned Boone fully. Taken greater care. But John puts his purpose over people. If he owes nothing... just on his own journey.... then he should go live by himself and just commune with the island. I find it ironic that John doesn't want anyone deciding for him, but continues to decide what should happen for everyone else. Terry O'Quinn is amazing in the role. It's a phenomenal character, but that doesn't mean I agree with Locke's choices & actions. He's tragically obsessed.
"Everything's going down this episode." You got that right. Besides the Pilot, this is the best episode of season 1. The writing, the acting...everything was stellar. "Do No Harm" is definitely in my Top 5 favorite episodes of the show. Also, RIP Boone. Once Boone died, we realized that no one was safe on this show.
Again, your reactions are great and genuine! I watched LOST when it originally aired. Waiting each week for the next episode was difficult. I am so happy that you are not dragging out the reactions. Enjoy the binge. For the record, this episode broke my heart on so many levels.
Kim Yoon-jin (who plays Sun) do a FANTASTIC JOB always, from the very first episode to the last one ! She's EXCEPTIONAL and very underrated in my opinion !
Absolutely bittersweet. The give and take, yin and yang. Light and darkness. And yes, when Jin smiles it lights up wherever he is. Also, we've asked Michael Giacchino to stop making absolute bangers that tug on our heart strings and his response was to write "Married Life" from the movie "Up", he takes no prisoners.

Relationships and relationslips are what drive this show. The characters on LOST all get a fresh start on The Island, but their past still haunts them.
Rest in Peace Boone! First main character death on the island 💔 Ian Somerhalder does a great job, but really does shine as Damon on The Vampire Diaries. Fun fact, I believe Ian said that he took some inspiration for the portrayal of Damon from Josh Holloway's (Sawyer) performance on this show! Aptly named "Life and Death" is the musical theme that plays when the baby is being shown around camp/Shannon crying over Boone's body. With all the relationships in the flashbacks; I guess you could say that everyone was *Lost* before they came to the island haha😅
How far Jin has come as a character - the fact that he hears someone shouting for help (not even in his own language) and immediately just runs to help is so far from how he was at the beginning of the season. No show does character development like this one.
What I like here in Boone's death is that he did not finish his sentence, he died before ending it... And I can say now as the episode is over that I never saw that in films before... Most of the case, we hear the last words of the character before s-he dies... Here, it is more realistic : Boone died before finishing his sentence
20 episode seasons is too much of a commitment for me now that I’m older. In my younger days I use to watch the entire seasons of 24 which had 24 episodes. 10 or 12 is the most I can do now.
Jack is the heart of the show, but the mistake you made is that they actually all are the heart of the show... Not only Jack is... That's one of the many things that makes that show so special... You'll see it 😉😊
Locke puts his 'purpose' over people... and that's a failing in my eyes. He doesn't intend these consequences, but it's what usually comes of obsession. And John is tragically obsessed. Terry O'Quinn is outstanding... would never imagine Lost without him... he has such a presence... evevates every scene he's in... but I have never been Team Locke.
This was a very hard episode to watch. I usually skip this episode from reactors channels because of how sad it was when Boone died. Around this time of the series Boone after 1x11 was becoming one of my most favorite characters in the show. Locke in his twisted way helped him to let go of the baggage keeping him from moving forward. 😢
If you want to be immersed, watch the show yourself. I, and many others, think he’s doing an outstandingly good job and enjoy his insights, etc. Instead of posting lengthy diatribes, find another reactor…preferably one that doesn’t react and break your immersion.
Your idea that every character who survived the Crash has a similar situation getting on that plane is not too far off, I wont say what connects all of their stories, even if it really isnt a spoiler, I just want to see if you can come to that conclusion on your own, but there is something that all the passenger's situations we've seen have in common
Ian Somerhalder is a decent actor but he always felt off as Boone. He is too attractive and athletic to be believable as a character who is kind of an inexperienced loser.
Please, Elie, don't try to always anticipate so much with everything... I love your comments (at least most of them) but I find two things a little sad, the fact you always want to anticipate things instead of living the present moment... It's kind of a spoiler even if we already watched the whole Lost series, it is frustrating as well for us to see someone who discovers the show to always try not to fully live the moment but always to be much later and the other thing I feel great but with a bad side as well is that you act like a film student... That is very interesting because it makes us learn some things and even discover things the way we didn't expect to like the light or the angle of the shot and what it means, how it is clever or difficult to do... But the sad side of it is that you're not fully immersed in the story as you often sees it in a technical way, so you talk about locations like "That's not Australia" or "The actor speaks perfectly English, I saw him in other films, so maybe the character lies and speaks fluent English tries to hide it" or here "Maybe Boone will die and the Claire's baby will be born, that's the exchange" or earlier "He will wake up and see his dad left after getting his kidney"... You always are out of the moment, and even often out of the show itself because you want to, and you try to analyse it and compare it to how the other shows make things often, and you make bets, but all of this is frustrating for us as it tells us "That's just a show, we're out of it", and that breaks the immersion for you and for us (though you can bring some very interesting light when you don't extract you too much far of the story, I really appreciated the opposition you made about the Anthony Cooper's character with his son as a dad and Michael's with his son Walt as a dad ! This a was very VERY interesting approach that did NOT break the immersion in the show) Because you know, when you discover the Lost series we live it again, and if you anticipate too much or always extract yourself far from it prevents us doing so You see, when you say "If Boone dies, he'll come back as a vampire, so it's okay", you refer to the Vampire Diaries where Ian Somerhalder (Boone's actor) plays, it tells us "That's just a show, it's all fictional, that character does not exist, don't believe in that", so it completely breaks the immersion in the moment for you and for us Elie, live the moments with us
Please, don't play the writer of the show ! You're proud for nothing because you break the immersion for you and us instead of living the moment and feeling its emotion... you mess it up just for 1 second glory and say "I was right !" And how many times will you repeat the same things instead of feeling the moment, of living it "it's gonna be a bittersweet episode with Claire giving birth and Jack having to let go Boone", "One life taken away, another life given", "One leaves the world and the other enters it", "One's drawing his last breath and the other's breathing for the first time", and the two other times already made such a comment for Claire's baby life and Boone's death... Listen, we've got sounds distorted, your watermark on the images, and I can understand you're forced to do that for being able to upload the episodes and avoid copyrights problems, but if you realize there are those obstacles to our immersion in the episodes you watch and you add all your comments (often during the moment and above the dialogues in the episode) and all your anticipations and external technical analysis, and your repeated comments like this one, it starts to become a lot... Really... so please, please, don't do that... Please... Here, Kate helps Claire to give birth... One of the most beautiful and emotionally intense moments of the show, you seem completely apathetic about it, you don't seem to feel anything, that's sad, but you even break our own immersion and emotion of that unique and beautiful moment
