I’m going to leave this here so hopefully some of you will be aware of it before hand. I’ve tried to upload and schedule 5 Spaced reactions. So far I have only been able to get my reactions to episodes 1, 2 and 4 on TH-cam. Episodes 3 and 5 were blocked. This week I am going to try and get my reactions to episode 6 and 7 uploaded and scheduled. But if they get blocked this may be a short reaction series on my channel. My apologies in advance if that ends up being the case. Anyway, hope all is well!
For those who are interested, most of my show reactions are on Patreon - patreon.com/THEkingboomer
Yup, heard this was an issue unfortunately. Great to see what you can upload tho.
YEEEESS!! I remember watching this when I lived in the UK. It was funny.
Big man, please react to Inside Number 9
I am more concerned about whether you saw what was special about the show and enjoyed it .
A question regarding your Patreon: I'm guessing it's like most cases, where we need our own copy of the show to watch along? I ask because I have Spaced on DVD, but I generally find that DVDs play at a different speed to the digital versions.
Glad you're watching and enjoying this show, it's one of my favourites! 😁
Yep. Edgar wright. Not only is it the same style, its also largely the same casts. And there are scenes in the cornetto trilogy that are easter eggs from Spaced.
This was my 90s. I refuse to believe the 90s was ages ago
You Finally got around to spaced, enjoy this gem series
Spaced is just wonderful.
I can't wait for him to meet Tires!
@@myopicautisticmetal9035AV A BANANA
@@myopicautisticmetal9035 'You lucky lucky people!"
Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg got the inspiration to do a zombie comedy one day while making an episode of spaced. You will probably notice the episode when you see it.
The resident Evil 2 episode if I recall.
You have no idea how much I love spaced, came out when I was 16 and was an inspiration for half my life. Your reactions will be watched as soon as they are posted.
Marsha "whereas they put my age at 54 when I'm actually 53!"
Hot Fuzz pub landlady 👌
Im so glad you recognised the actor who played jim i was worried youd miss it
first. SPACED is a masterwork..
Spaced is one of my favourite sitcoms of all time. Its absolutely amazing. I still quote it from time to time!
Yes! Its finally happening!!
Finally ! great show.
YES!!! You're watching SPACED! Finally, lol, enjoy🤣
this is such an iconic series - it was a must watch back in the day.
"So do you like my comics?" "ooh that reminds me I was talking to Marsha about the Rubbish.." 😂
I've seen your full reactions to series 1 on Patreon but have to give a like on here too, looking forward to the start of series 2 now, I'm guessing it will drop pretty soon!
This program was a cult classic and absolutely iconic at the time. There are only two series of 6 episodes each. Absolutely love this show.. so quotable
You should treat yourself by watching the seventh episode of each series. 😁
@@mandelbot5318 Oh damn, you're right. 20 years and my memory has spaced out.
@@MOSMASTERINGFor what it’s worth, I watched the show on TV as it aired (probably like yourself) and thought episode 6 was the last in the first series. Imagine my surprise when I later bought the VHS and found that magical seventh episode. 😮
@@mandelbot5318 Back before streaming and we had to wait a week before episodes.. the anticipation, talking about it with your friends the day afterward, buying a boxset and getting extras, commentary, behind the scenes, bloopers.. we've lost so much moving to the convenience of streaming. Not to mention - they can just delete it from the library at any time. We're at the whims of the streaming companies now. I hate it.. I miss my DVD collection. I'm sure it's all in storage somewhere. I'm moving away from using the internet so much, it's actually made things not as enjoyable and fun anymore.
I was at primary school in the 80s and I remember coming in to school and talking about 'Bottom' with my friends 😂
In the 90s, the most talked about show at school was The Fast Show and Alan Partridge. They were phenomenons.
I hope King Boomer loves Spaced as much as I do.. it gets better and better every episode and Season 2 surpasses it completely. Similar to The Might Boosh. The Zoo series is a classic, but after that it gets even more ridiculous and funny.
Favourite episode of Spaced?
Probably when they go clubbing and it's all implied that they're on Molly (whatever happened to 'Mandy'.. when did that change?)
Their feet still tapping to the beat even while they're all passed out on the couch.
I remember that warm afterglow feeling after dancing all night.. it wasn't uncomfortable being that stimulated, but you definitely couldn't sleep.😆
Really happy to see you react to this fantastic series - the soundtrack is also great and on Spotify
Mark Heap is a legend!
the landlady was in Alan Partridge where they used chocolate mousse in the hotel room and she is also in the Windsors
"Do you like me sex-wise?"
But that was a stolen moment, and she had to give it back!
@ lol and she was fired lol
To the untrained eye it could look like some sort of dirty protest.
@@sequilla Or that he had been eating some mousse?
Yaaaaay! - brilliant.
Edgar Wright directing, and the cast of the 'Cornetto Trilogy' plus Peter Serafinowicz, Jessica Hynes, Mark Heap and more. Fantastic comedy talents.
About bloody time king boomz😊
Am so glad you liked it. The first one can be slower paced than most like, but you really get to love each and every character as it goes on. They put a lot of time on multiple casts, and it works well
People said at the time the biggest joke in the whole series was that there was a flat in London for £90 a week, lol.
Aaaaaah! So excited for this!
I watched both series, in 1 day, absolutely stoned with a bunch of besties. good times.
Spaced is my wife and I's favourite show. It was one of the first things we watched together all those years ago and is something we quote almost every day. If its not a day with a Spaced quote, it'll be a Black Books one somewhere
Mark Heap often plays quite repulsive characters but he’s legitimately hot in Spaced
Been patiently waiting for you to react to this for a very very long time it’s brilliant man have fun! 💪🏻🤙🏻🍿
I think I was the first dude to recommend this show to you ages ago
Woop! 🙌 ❤ 9:36 yep, same guy that did Cornetto trilogy, and baby driver
And Scott Pilgrim
Spaced was very refreshing for its time; a lot of British comedy was very studio bound, but Spaced looked fresh and weird. Tim Bisley’s name in an homage to Simon Bisley, a brilliant contributor to the seminal comic 2000AD, which is still published today every week. The pictures Tim draws were drawn by Jason Brashill, who worked on many series in 2000AD. You’ll encounter loads of references to British comics.
Yes lad. I'm all here for this.
This show makes me feel so nostalgic having grown up in London at the same time. Everything about this show makes me feel nostalgic, especially the Resident Evil gameplay! Love it.
They showed Shaun of the Dead at my local cinema yesterday, for the 20th anniversary(ish). Still holds up, the Cornetto Trilogy and Spaced are collectively a huge part of my youth.
Yes!!! Kings watching Spaced!!!
Been over 10 years since I've last seen it myself, can't wait! 🎉
About time! 😅happy to rewatch this with ya
I still need to see you react to GREEN WING!
Good call! And another great Mark Heap character.
Rewatching it myself at the moment. Wonderfully bonkers.
I find it hard to believe he has not watched GW. That has my favourite Mark Heap character.
Beat me too it, Michelle Gomez was totally bonkers in this TV show.👍
In late 1999 when Spaced was first broadcast, the exchange rate was roughly £1 GBP = $1.60 US, so £360 would have been equivalent to about $576 back then.
It is the same Edgar Wright who directed the Cornetto trilogy, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Baby Driver and Last Night in Soho. He's also directing the remake of The Running Man and is set to direct a remake of Barbarella. I'm sure he will be adding his own unique touches to both of those.
Jim! AKA Mark Heap Comic Genius! His best role is as Dr Alan Statham in Green Wing
Definitely,he was made for that role👍
That's exactly what I commented before seeing your comment.
up ap are up
@@Strange_ClubNo spoilers but one word DWARF! That may be the most I have ever laughed! I was in pain with laughing
@@gminusmark 🤣🤣🤣cheers for that, can't get it out my head now🤣🤣👍
Yes mate!!! You’ll love this x
yes it's Jim. And the guy you thought looked like Will from In-Betweeners was Ben in I'm Alan Partridge. And the woman you seen before played Jill (the chocolate mousse woman) in I'm Alan Partridge.
Such a clever comedy and the characters develop so much.
So smart, ahead of its time 👍
Easily one of my favourite shows of all time, makes me so nostalgic for my time in flat and house shares. Even down to smoking way too much weed and having a landlord, we knew and liked popping in far too much for a drink and a chat. You should give Top Buzzer a chance, another similar British sitcom that was far too relatable, pretty obscure but another one with a great cast before they went on to bigger things.
So glad you found the joy of dunking digestives in tea
You should check out Scott Pilgrim vs. The World!
It's an amazing comedy movie (based on a comic book series), but directed by Edgar Wright and his signature editing style!
I believe this was Nick Frost's first acting job. He was Simon's mate and he thought he would be perfect.
SO so so happy you made it! 'Skip ti the end....!' is a phrase i still use to this day! 😂 This is probably my favorite role for all four the main actors, pegg, frost hynes & heap. {Especially heap!}
Once you've done this have a look at 'Ideal', 'Mongrels' and 'Psychoville' think you & the Queen would love them all 😉
Ideal is so underappreciated
ooo! .. Spaced! ... good choice.
Yes KB! Good choice.
90s was the height of civilization...all down hill now!
There are so many music and film references in this. Even to the point of saying a word in a specific way. Simon and Jessica ( ( Tim and Diasy ) are the writers, and Edgar Wright is the director.
“Ello Brian” .. 25 years I’m listening to it cos of this show! Prepare for The same KB 😂
The monthly rent equates to about 430- 450 dollors
It was around $515 at the time the show was airing.
Adjusted for inflation, it would be £595 today, which is around $765.
Yaaay. Spaced. I really enjoyed that show
Certain the Patreon crowd will already have pointed it. Jessica/Daisy is the girl in Sean of the Dead that Sean bumps into twice (pre and during the apocalypse) and who ultimately brings the army to the Winchester, to save Sean's crew.
Many other Spaced crew pop up in the Cornetto universe.
The show is brilliant. Cant wait to see your reaction to the "gunfight" episode.
I don't know if it's the same guy but the editing is something that stands out in this show. Glad you caught that. You're gonna enjoy this ride!
I've watched and collected every British sitcom made since 1981, Spaced is by far my favourite. It burns bright and dies fast, enjoy.
On the subject of rent prices. I live in the North of England and my rent is only £475 a month. Area is decent and quiet. House is nice, has a driveway, 2 bedrooms. Just depends where in the country you live. The more north you go the cheaper the rent. This same house down south would be £1k a month
Marsha - Julia Deakin was in Hot Fuzz and Worlds End. She has been in a lot of other stuff you would not have seen.
And briefly in Shaun of the Dead.
@@GnrMilligan Yes she had quite a large role in Hot Fuzz as the pub landlady and a member of the rap group NWA.
@@paulmidsussex3409 I know I'm going to kick myself. But rap group? lol
After you've watched "Spaced", go back and watch "Shaun of the Dead" and pay particular attention to the crowd of zombies gathered outside the Winchester, when the gang arrive to seek shelter.
Enjoy king boomer 🍿 can’t wait for more and thanks
Spaced is truly a cult classic. Really a must-see if you like the Cornetto Trilogy
you'll enjoy this one, I think you words you 're looking for were "somehow feels like home". I have no idea how your videos come up in my feed but I've enjoyed rewatching a lot of the shows with you. Hope you and the family are all doing well.
ps double dunk never risk the triple.
Great series!
Jessica Stevenson has been known as Jessica Hynes since 2007 - just so you know if you see her referenced anywhere else. She's great!
ah finally looking forward to this ✌✌
This show is amazing, and THE pivotal show for late 90s early 2000s comedy
The scooby doo reference is so good with the og music
If you’re going to get ripped, Spaced is amazing. When it first was shown that was close to my life 😎
Finally you got around to Spaced! Green Wing next 😊
Oner of the best comedies made.
Edgar Wright did direct the cornetto trilogy BTW... but you probably know that by now.
Dude, when you come to the UK (we'll have that pint) but you should do a tour of the locations of the shows you been watching... like the spaced house etc
"Hi Bryan", Spaced, it says it on the tin
I agree with you on all the relationship stuff. I had a friend who would break up with someone on a Monday but consider it fine to call on Wednesday to if they’re free to have a drink “as friends”?! Crikey O’Blimey!
Finally, this is awesome.
Good ,but no Clem Fandango.
I always think of Mark Heap as Doctor Alan Statham from Green Wing, surely his wackiest character ever.
great series
Spaced was my uni existence in my head. It was my "How to" guide to navigating the chaos of nothingness and going nowhere fast. Worth it.
Jessica Stevenson is now known as Jessica Hynes, after she got married
Yup same guy Edgar Wright. The guy from downstairs is also one of the bar men in Worlds End
ahhh the guy on the phone .. think he plays 'Ben' the porter from 'im alan partridge'
Yes! Spaced reaction. How's that for a slice of fried gold?!
Yeah, those rental prices were insane for 1999 too....
If you haven't seen it already you need to watch 'Danger 50000 volts - Zombies'. You'll se where the idea for Shaun of the Dead started.
I have the boxset of Danger, Isn't the zombie thing one of the extras?
Yes, I’m so excited
King Boomer, I wonder if anyone has suggested a British comedy called White Gold? It's made by the same people who made The Inbetweeners and also stars James Buckley and Joe Thomas. It's set in the 89s and is about double glazing salesman. You'll love it.
Digestives with Stilton Cheese is one of my favourite snacks.
Lol this shows awesome, 90s Friday night trippy vibes
The only thing fans can never accept amongst the madness of this show was the idea of a London flat being available for £90 a week, even in 1999
Yeah, that was ludicrous even then
I watched so many episodes of Green Wing before I realised that one of the characters was played by Mark Heap! He is a bit of a chameleon.
Ah, Spaced. Subscribed.
100% on point with Edgar Wright
Totally given away by the fact the Edgar Wright is one of the sleeping flatmates when Daisy says she's leaving.
A couple of months ago I met Jessica Hynes and recognised her but it didn't click what she was from. I started chatting to her thinking she was friends with my wife. She was lovely, even though she probably thought I was a bit stupid 😆
Of course you're wearing a Space Wars T-shirt in the Spaced reaction. 😭😭😭
Theres a zombie episode which was the seed for Shaun of the dead, and yes Edgar did the Cornetto trilogy
Garth marenghis dark place
About time!!!!!
Edgar wright is playing one of the stone people in the squat 👍😎
I'm here in 2024 paying £375pm for a 1 bed flat... yeah I got it good through council. There is a big difference between the north and the south considering rent, I imagine my flat would be £1000pm in London
Council housing is meant to be cheaper than the market rate. So even where you live, you should be paying less than a normal 1 bedroom flat in that area. Of course not London prices still though.
@wyterabitt2149 true, it's about £100 cheaper than private rent
Yes yes yes yes yes! You won't regret it
