Just another evolution in sports gear. The game started out with guys wearing leather helmets. Then cheap plastic with one crossbar. Half a century later, here we are with inflatable inner helmets, contours, intricate crossbars with visors to keep from getting your eyes poked.
They're great for practices, yeah I get it. Preseason games too, fuck it... but Regular season and Playoff games? fuck no.

They are very effective but they def look goofy, and cover the helmets and the details. You can’t deny they don’t look as good as wearing just the helmet

I think they look like crap. But I would love if every player on my favorite team wore them.
If they prevent even 1 concussion, it’s totally worth it.
The guardian caps are gonna be same color of the helmet and have the team’s logo on the side as if it were a helmet, its obviously not gonna be shiny or anything it’s gonna be a flat color. However that does take away from the esthetic but they’re trying to prevent head injuries so you gotta respect it

It fr makes no sense and as someone who has had many concussions and head related injuries i find this a nice change but i dont see any skill players other than MABYE rbs might wear it
The NFL is taking things too far. First the kickoff change, then the banned hip-drop tackle, now this? The league is becoming too soft and it makes me sad.
The kickoff change is actually a good change. Not only is it safer, but it will make kickoffs actually entertaining to watch.
yeah people were probably saying the exact same thing when they started wearing helmets and shoulder pads, it’s nothing new, bud

The kickoff change is good, it will result in many more returned kicks instead of kickers just launching them into the stands. Hip drop ban is dumb, and these are good, I don’t think skill position players should wear them though, o line d line and maybe linebackers and running backs
My high school uses them and they 10000% work but the only downside is they look a little goofy and ofc cover the helmet details
Honestly bro hip drop is the only terrible new thing guardian caps fr dont matter other than protecting their heads idk if you a problem with people not wanting brain damage (i can tell its not fun) but its fr not a bad addition
With how strict the concussion protocol is, whatever is going to keep players from coming out of games prematurely is good with me. How many times do you see a player angry as hell leave the game looking fine because they are showing signs of a concussion? Give them good looking equipment that let's them stay in the game as long as they can at this point
If they save health yes but asteticly they would need the logos and stuff on them

theres already padding inside the helmet, to add more padding inside theyd have to make the shell bigger, which means added weight, which means neck problems
The padding designed to defer point of impact it an over helmet thing soften and redirect the blows
That double helmet idea has been around since 1990. I remember Mark Kelso using one. That other one looks stupid.

People dont care about the players safety and i will say the hip drop rule is dumb but as a player myself the guardian caps are honestly fine it doesn’t make them hit softer all it does is reduce injury but once these clowns favorite player starts wearing em they finna switch up just watch

This is just going to make players use their heads more, which will lead to more head injuries.
Better enforce mouthpiece and knee pad rules too then. Also better have the players play on grass and not turf.

Sure. I don’t care. Doesn’t change the way the game is played at all. Only changes aesthetics. And i care about the players who are out there putting their health on the line to entertain us.

@fullmetalx644 , I do care for player safety (loved the game since pop warner) and the caps should be on if it cuts out injury. All I'm asking for is a mesh over the cap or integrate the design cap into the helmet to make them look seemless and better.

I agree the padding looks like crap. But I don’t care. I would rather see my entire team wearing them, than see any of them miss time because of a concussion.
