Was curious how far you measure on the output shaft? Was the drilling fairly easy where you cut the end of the shaft off?

The instructions give you the guide on how far to go given your lift, cv style etc. I cut about an inch and drilling was easy. Do yourself a favor and get a quality, brand new bit for the pilot/bore and tap. Do no mess around and take your time. Running it in 2wd is a great trick but have a friend on the brakes with blocks under the wheels!!!

@@Rich9143 yeah, my instructions for a ZJ said to drill and tap the end of the shaft without cutting, unless I went with a custom drive shaft. I ended up leaving 2-1/4" splines as I had a custom length driveshaft I was using. So far so good.

I’m thinking of doing the same to my jeep I have a 93 grand Cherokee with a 4.0l in it and was just wondering is yours a 4.0 or a v8 and have you had any issues with the driveshaft off-road

4.0L is great and good enough for crawling and trail riding. It's all about torque there. In the grand Cherokee, the v8 is nice because it's just a heavier suv. I had a 5.2L which is the smaller of the 2 options but was able to drive daily and crawler 35"s with 3.73 gears. Learn about GEARING in the axles. Before you get to deep down the rabbit hole. It changes the game even with a 4 cyl.
