    For welding gal, as some of the others suggest, use a flap disc to remove gal from weld site. Next tip is to preference stick weld to Mig. As some of the others suggest, slower / hotter weld to burn through and get steel to steel bond without the gaseous impurities in the weld. Good luck!

    All you can do is remove the gal. How to tell if you have removed it is first look at your sparks gal is a zinc coating stuck to the steel so when you start grinding it you'll notice not many sparks as you get down to the steel you will see more sparks. you should also notice After you grind the gal back that there will be two different colours one will be steel the other the gal. keep grinding if you don't notice a distinct difference if you want to have a cleaner weld. Also hot did gal products (star pickets and the pipe you were welding)will have a heavier coating than the dura gal gal products like gal RHS. And more heat like others are suggesting helps too.

    Simple trick is to use battery or hydrochloric acid to clean up the weld area. Apply the acid along the weld line using a 25/40 mm paint brush side ways. I use a wooden batten or plain star picket/angle iron as a guide. Use a flap disc to then cleanup. NO grinder. This creates high temp causing zinc and steel to blend sub surface maintaining a DIRTY work surface.

    Hi Jon, Another farmer in the country started after you on the water issue. A company saw their TH-cam and has donated a spraying unit to them. And they have used the unit on a fire, and you are still going.

    Don't breath the gal fumes as you'll end up fairly sick and if welding for a while drink milk. Yep it helps.

    Do you not use pod sticker? Basically gkue to hold ripe pods together while the green comes in? Use to windrow alot of canola but since pod sticker been available hardly get windrower out now other then uneven malting barley & some grass & peas

    Use exhaust clamps as brackets to mount pipes . It easy to remove and replace later. When designing don't be an engineer and hide things cause your always need to be serviceable later on

      exactly what I used on a water tender truck setting up for a spray trailer for boom spray , exhaust clamps work great !!!

    Why do you spray out rather then windrow?

    • @tomsbrookfarm
      @tomsbrookfarm  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Good question, I probably should have addressed that.
      We used to a long time ago, but the wind we get here used to blow the windrows around and made a mess to try and harvest. We also don’t grow heavy enough canola for windrowing.
      We could do it now but it involves buying a swather and pickup fronts so it’s to much money to get into it

    No one screw up. Though you at most times have lines full of water the use of plastic lines not good practice. If caught in hot area, the Plastic WILL FAIL(MELT), if lines MT. IT WILL BLOW the budget, but stainless is the way to go. The way to keep the cost down is to use stainless exhaust pipe and milk fittings. Instead of buying TEES, a good pipe fitter/plumber can make tees. I do it all the time especially with sub 25mm lines. The old way was to make out of industrial copper fittings. TIG welding or the use of HI-temp brazing/solder. I have seen enough PVC pipe/fittings in my times in industry and on farms where even a light grass fire has wrecked the PVC. Other than that you are on the right track for the intended use. Another comment is become a politician but have two white boards. The first board you write the requirements and on the other board you draw up the pipework. As you progress you alter the pipework drawing to match the as built. At the end you look at the requirements to see how close the end job is to what is required.

    Trust me, it's not worth bottling thing like that up anyway, you can't sell it after all, but it can kill you.
    Been there done that, I didn't die but I'm completely burnt out and crippled, and trust me it's not worth it. There is no pride, manly hood, shame or whatever you can loose, but you can loose pretty much everything else if you think you can handle everything yourself.
