For those looking in the comments to see if this video is beginner friendly: it TOTALLY is! I have never even touched a sewing machine before. Right now it is 2 am and I am trying to sew the bag thanks to this tutorial. :)

I have not seen your utube before. I am an older woman and I have sewn all of my life. I am so impressed with your beginning sewing program. Good job! I will recommend your utube for young people that want to learn to sew. Thank you. Janet in Idaho

This is honestly the best beginner sewing tutorial I've ever seen. You explained everything so clearly and didn't assume we knew anything - I've watched longer videos that cover less material and they weren't nearly as helpful as this one. THANK YOUUU ♥ Going to attempt that tote bag for my first project!

For those of you learning: there’s actually(probably) a thread cutter attached to your machine, so you don’t have to worry about using scissors to cut it when you’re done. 😊 it’s seriously a life saver.

Fantastic tutorial! I watched it yesterday - my very first day of sewing - and about 3 hours after I had learned how to thread the machine, I had already made a smaller version of the tote bag in the video, using an old bedsheet and following along with many pauses and rewinds. Thank you for this great confidence-boosting video!

I made it! With my own ferret paws! Thank you for posting this lesson! It is so pleasant to learn from you, someone who enjoys sewing. Other yt tutorial hosts begin by saying, "I don't like to sew". This ferret doesn't want to learn a craft from someone who doesn't enjoy it themselves. It's also nice learn it from a younger person, most all the other ppl making sewing vids are old. I appreciate learning from someone closer to my age, I feel like I can relate to you more than an old person. Thank you for all your hard work!

As someone who's barely sewn since 7th grade in junior high (1974!!!), I appreciate your lack of proper terminology and how much less intimidating it makes the process. Don't ya wish they'd simply called the 'good' side the 'outside' to begin with?

Instead of zigzagging after having seamed the two pieces together, it is a lot easier to simply zoom all the sides of each piece through the zigzag first. This way there is no need for a backstitch at the beginning or end of the zigzagging.
A demonstrated here the zigzag is sewn part way into the seam allowance and still has some free edge availabpe for fraying. To lock in those edges, it is best to align the fabric so that the needle barely hits the cut edge on the right and into the fabric on the left. This way the free edge is completely encased.

I am 15 mins into your video.. after seeing a number of beginners sewing videos (and believe me I am a complete beginner) I have to say yours is the most fool proof video to help me get started. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your knowledge. I really like how you explained everything and why (e.g. why you reverse the stitch) as these are mistakes I would quite easily make as a new starter. I was wondering if you planned to make a video on various other stitches and when you would use them? It would be super helpful and I personally like how you explain things!
Eitherway, thank you, thank you. Cant say it enough. I am subscribed and will continue watching the rest 😊👍

I have a sewing machine but it is very intimidating!! Just looking at it & the idea of threading it... And I had no idea about needing an iron or extra sewing needles. I guess I better get those. Oh and also had no idea about the zigzag stitch either!! I suppose I better find those things! I do have lots of bobbins though & pins, etc. Now I feel relaxed from this video so I will go to sleep as its late. You are very wise with sewing and relaxing too. 😀🌈🍀🌿🌱

      16. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم): "Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?" Say: "(It is) Allâh." Say: "Have you then taken (for worship) Auliyâ’ (protectors) other than Him, such as have no power either for benefit or for harm to themselves?" Say: "Is the blind equal to the one who sees? Or darkness equal to light? Or do they assign to Allâh partners who created the like of His creation, so that the creation (which they made and His creation) seemed alike to them?" Say: "Allâh is the Creator of all things; and He is the One, the Irresistible."
      آية: 17

He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and the valleys flow according to their measure, but the flood bears away the foam that mounts up to the surface - and (also) from that (ore) which they heat in the fire in order to make ornaments or utensils, rises a foam like unto it, thus does Allâh (by parables) show forth truth and falsehood[1]. Then, as for the foam it passes away as scum upon the banks, while that which is for the good of mankind remains in the earth. Thus Allâh sets forth parables (for the truth and falsehood, i.e. Belief and disbelief).

For them there will be the terrible reckoning. Their dwelling-place will be Hell; and worst indeed is that place for rest.[2]

      24. "Salâmun ‘Alaikum (peace be upon you) for you persevered in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home!"
      25. And those who break the Covenant of Allâh, after its ratification, and sever that which Allâh has commanded to be joined (i.e. they sever the bond of kinship and are not good to their relatives), and work mischief in the land, on them is the curse (i.e. they will be far away from Allâh’s Mercy), and for them is the unhappy (evil) home (i.e. Hell)[1].

Hiya! Your vids are so relaxed and you make everything looks so easy effortlessly. Thanks for this. I do have a question though: the kind of fabric you used for the tote bag looks very thin and in my experience, it is a bit of a nightmare to sew that kind of fabric. Do you have any tips on the type of stich to use if I am a beginner and need to work on satin or very soft thin fabrics like that? Thanks :)

You did an amazing job with the video. Loved the voom voom comment, I call the foot pedal the gas pedal. When you buy bobbins you need to know what size your machine takes there are so many sizes. And Don't cut interfacing with your good scissors.

i dont know if i missed this; so if you have older sewing machine you have first before you do ANYTHING with it to tighten it because if you dont, the sew will be wrinkly and ugly and not thight

I have an older sewing machine, it's probably from the 80's, I'm not too sure. But this worked really well, I had no clue what I was doing with it and the instruction manual isn't the best lmao. Now it could just be something with my machine, but in the other side of where I sewed, so if I were to flip it over, the threading looked loose? Idk if it's because of how I did it or the settings on it, but I'm not sure what happened.

I’ve been asking my mom and mother in law to teach me how to sew because every time I go to Joan’s or the thrift store for some yarn, I find so many good fabrics and I get so bummed when I walk away because I don’t know what to do with them. Your video went into so much detail I want to attempt making a long sleeve or maybe even a tote bag as my first project. I might use my moms sewing machine just until I build the courage to invest in my own sewing machine. Also I have to find room for it… my husband isn’t going to like this idea😂😂😂 (only because there’s yarn everywhere and now it’s going to be yarn and fabric everywhere)

This is so helpful! I always forgot how to do all the basic things between every time I wanted to alter something and had to ask my mom to teach me on her sewing machine :D Then I finally bought my OWN a few months ago and have been too lazy to learn again :D Also thanks for the "stuff you need" - I forgot they don't include like anything with the sewing machine, so it's helpful to have a beginner stuff list for going to the craft store!

Hey this is a good tutorial. I’m confused about the handle part though? I’m assuming you are putting it through the end that doesn’t have the stitch that closes it but the fabric won’t go over the other fabric ? What did. Ido wrong?
