Heck yeah it's worth it. I started playing a few months ago because I wanted a melee game. At first, Vermintide seemed boring because on low difficulties, you don't need to do anything other than W +M1 to win. But as you move up in difficulty, the skill ceiling begins to become apparent and the combat becomes super satisfying. The characters, maps, and weapons are fantastic as well. I will say this, Vermintide 2 has probably one of the best quickplay communities I've seen in a game. I play all my games with randos and even when we wipe generally people are pretty chill. Communication is decent enough (more people could use their mics) and generally people are kind and helpful when you ask nooby questions like where the tomes and grims are in a level or how best to kill certain bosses/monsters. That alone makes Vermintide 2 a great experience.
thats bcuz wipe is that game is not too punishing, by wiping all u lose is a couple of minutes :), so most people dont care ) + most of vets in the game basically have literally everything in the game so they are playing just to have fun... i wish more games to be like that.
Great video about the state of the game in 2024. Thank you for making this. I can say for certain, that VT2 is my favorite game period. I really wish it was more mainstream. It is such a unique game.
Really appreciate this video. As someone with 2.7K hours in this game, I recently got back into it. The Combat and mechanics are truly unmatched, there's always something more to master in this game. The community is one of the best I've ever seen in a game. Hoping it stays active for years more to come!
It's funny because playing VT first, I remember it being a bit of a slog to get going in the early game, leveling and gearing up. After playing DT for even longer, I came back to VT and now it's made it feel refreshingly much faster to actually get and do what I want lol. Not to say it still doesn't suffer from the pain of getting a new friend into the game and going through that early-mid game farm just to access the appropriate difficulties and such, but the crafting alone is so much less of a headache to guide people through.
I tried my first Warhammer game last night. I tried Dark Tide and was loving it until I learned their was no solo campaign. I tried playing with people online (against my will) and the awesomeness just plummeted. The option of playing with people would be great but a solo campaign in that world is what I was after. So I just grabbed "Vermintide 2 Ultimate" for $10.99 and I'm really looking forward to this. I didn't even know these games existed.
I'm just starting the Warhammer Fantasy roleplaying game - and I'm somewhat familiar with the world from playing the table top game back in 8th edition... but man im pretty rusty with the feel/atmosphere of it... Vermintide 2 has been a great way to get into the universe again and get a feel for a very lived in world
I picked up Vermintide 2 back in 2019 and put about 60 or 70 hours into it. I liked the game a lot, but I wasn't very good. Struggled even on the lower difficulties, largely because I was averse to learning the dodging/blocking mechanics. Flash forward to January of this year (when I started playing again) and I cannot believe how incredibly well this game holds up! Five years later!! I have a little over 350 hours now and am having a ton of fun playing Legend PUBs (which are quite easy to find). If you are new to the game and find yourself discouraged by the steeper-than-average skill curve, do not lose hope! Spend as much time playing on the lower difficulties as you need to, because you WILL get better with practice. :)
It's also worth mentioning that as a new player doing the lower difficulties is better for getting to know the maps better as well as getting better gear so you can get to max power which make it a bit easier to get into higher difficulties.
I just came back after not having played since engineer release and I'm having the absolute blast in the chaos wastes, such a fun mode where you can do some ridiculous builds
You sold me man... i grinded every single piece of content out of similiar games in the genre.. probably 5k hrs in total over a dozen game. And what i do usually is that i play a game for a few months and enjoy it so hard until im satisfied and achieved my goals (im a perfectionist tho). So i love diving into the ocean and don't come up until i wasted my life gaming like a madman! Now, i'll get the Ultimate Edition on Sale, because its 3 bucks more lol. And then i found out they still updahe the game! Similiar to Saber's World War Z! They show their players love that many do not. Totally my game, great video man! Any communities around the game like some discord?
I just came back today because of your Sister of the Thorn video. Maybe I just got very unlucky, but I ran in to the worst of the worst. 2 Dutch kids constantly insulted me on Chaos Wastes, then when we almost finished they vote kicked me. Then the game after I had 2 people instantly leave after they messed up once. Horrible experience tbh, will try again in a couple weeks. Will still watch your videos tho.
As a vermintide vet, I hate most of the people I encounter on quick play from years of similar experiences. The trick is to get really good in singleplayer so when you find someone that pisses you off you can cuck them out of playing the game.
In my mind, I played VT2 for a huge amount of time since release, left it when chaos wastes came out. I maxed all classes, won all maps in highest difficulty, even played onslaught mod on different maps. In my mind I have known the game from top to bottom but still I "only" have 450 hours of play in Steam XD. It's funny how experiences may differ compared to the played amount of hours. Great video!
Quick thing , i'm a ps4 player and i'm pretty sure on PlayStation you can't get the 4 dollars character dlc , we can only get the bundle for 9 , but still having a blast with the game (especially since they fixed most of the crashes this week)
I’d like more things to do in chaos wastes. In Deep rock you have pipe lines, drip pods, etc… I’m tired of standing in a pot waiting for a bar to fill up.
one of the best thing in the game is that I never felt like I needed to play a specific class or role(despite roles being pretty much there). Sure if you have 3 mele-only classes on your team(which is rare but possible) is better to have some range weapon for killing specials(think it's 2+ options for every class), but that's it. Never "We need X class!", "Don't pick Y it's bad" or "Your build/weapons are bad, get meta one".
I got the game back in 2022 when it was free right before the launch of Darktide, I then bought all the dlc for the game, and I love V2. Hands down one of my favorite "horde shooters". Even if I barely shoot anything.
Vermintide has a very very friendly community. I will say that the better you get at it and the higher difficulties you can play the friendlier the players are. As long as you're not doing dumb shit like running off on your own or changing head first into a patrol. 😂
V2 is absolutely worth picking up in 2024. I played V1, got V2 at launch, and played for the first few months, got all the achievements, and moved on. Towards the end of last year, I decided to redownload it bc I got Darktide after that big overhaul update, and I gotta say...Vermintide 2 is awesome. There is so much content to go through, and the melee combat is second to none. Clearing a Cataclysm campaign and hunting for red gear doesn't get old.
Just got back into it. I use to play a lot with a group and got quite some red gear. But i also brought some new guys some older player and some noobies to just chill with
Ive been playing for 3 years now and it feels just as good when i started. The only "negative" is that i play on consoles which means that updates may arrive later as well that we will NOT be getting versus which was stated by fatshark multiple times. Which is quite unfortunate

It's a blast! I've played it for 80hrs this year since I finally started doing cataclysm with a few mates I found on the official discord. Combat is polished, intense. Just a superb game. I did drop it last year though, because I played too much of the lower difficulties, but legend is a different beast
Best way I can describe Vermintide: it feels like a video game version of the Fellowship going through Moria, just change out orcs/goblins for rat people
It is always worth it. When I’m kinda burnt out on the current games I’m playing (Remnant II, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Helldivers 2, etc) I can always comeback to this game and have fun. Heck I always think about this game. Also I named my ship in Helldivers 2 Hammer Of Wrath in dedication to Victor. Bots and bugs are all heretics. And when you run Orbital Laser in Helldivers 2 you can think of it as the purging light of Sigmar.
Also, one note about the dlcs that if it is intentional it is great and I think it is. As long as one person in the party has the dlc campains everyone can play them I think it is intentional because there is given that they can block cataclism for people without winds of magic.
You are wrong about the Weaves, there are people who play it, the skill ceiling is 10 times higher than any cata games you have seen, and I've been playing with pros hitting those ceilings! It gives real motivation to get better and better. We can say it's the opposite of Chaos wastes, as later builds on randomness, Weaves are actually scripted and learnable, which is attractive part for many of us.
hey I noticed at 1:00 that ur screen has the white washed dimming issue. I believe this is an HDR setting. I had this issue with Armored Core 6. Try turning off the HDR setting. It fixed my faded colors.
So glad I stuck with this game, the lower difficulty made it feel mindless. I almost wrote it off but thankfully I started playing champion and legend. Its difficult and frustrating but in a good way. Its extremely satisfying when you have a dominant run through a map on a high difficulty. Recommend looking for a few tips on ranking up your gear faster. Without decent gear, champion and legend are a very tall task.
Honestly, I haven't played VT2 in a couple of years (and that was on a series s because I didn't have access to my pc at the time), but I just put about an hour into Space Marine 2 today and just decided to refund it because it wasn't really doing it for me at it's price point. I was already thinking of doing it but I'm going to just pull the trigger once steam refunds me and get all the VT2 content of steam with my refund and get back into it. I played and got enough out of the game in 22 to not feel bad about buying everything a second time. Hopefully I see you in a public lobby sometime!
Well you sold me, I had Vermintide 2 on Xbox, but my controller broke and watching this got me hyped to replay it so I snagged it on ps5. It’s on sale currently for around 14.50$ for the ultimate edition.
If anyone is thinking about getting this on console there's a few extra things to keep in mind. As of now they have said they do not plan on adding versus to console at all. Bummer, but I think the game is still worth getting. Updates also come to console later, not much later but later still. This game is not crosspay. You can play cross family like PS4/5 but you're limited to that. PC has the highest player count also. I play on PlayStation, and there's pretty much always lobbies for most difficulties. The two higher difficulties legend and Cata I can usually find matches during my evenings, especially on weekends but I can't always find Cata matches at all times of the day. But that'll take a while to get to anyways. PC and console are also balanced slightly different, and most stats you'll find about the game online are stats for PC. This will not be relevant until you're extremely late game, playing in cata trying to min max breakpoints, and even then it's not that big of a deal and by no means necessary. Also a general thing to say is the game is a little grindy, to avoid it feeling like that I would suggest playing all the characters evenly until they're max level. I put like 300hrs into one character before branching out, and playing the other classes on lower difficulties felt like a grind to me, because it does take some time to get everyone leveled up. All around, great game. Still play it a shit ton and don't plan on stopping.
Really great video that recaps the game pretty well! Also GOD DAMN DOES YOUR KRUBER LOOK GOOD I've never seen that skin before since nobody really plays foot knight
I've played since launch. The game feels like it is still in a very good state (as much as can be said for a Fatshark game, anyway) and I'm glad to see there are a few videos like this out there.
A little something interesting to add though relating to saltz swinging the rapier around like an idiot, thats a huge part of his character. He constantly gets shit from Kruber about how horrible he is with a sword. Saltz sucks with a sword, so you also suck with the sword when playing saltz. What other game goes that in depth with their character development?? Its wild
to me V2 seemed more like a medieval Destiny 2, rather than anything like left 4 dead. especially with the way the weapons drop/upgrade system works. regardless, i really enjoyed the short time i spent playing on console a while back. considered buying the pc version, but just not sure the player count is there for matchmaking. if playable solo, next sale probably will grab it. good video btw!
I only wish you could transfer progress between platforms. I’ve been playing for years on PS4, now I got a pc and have to start from scratch. I love the game enough to be willing, but I’m not super stoked about regrinding all of Okri’s challanges and general character progression. Still, I now actually have people to play with among my friends so I’m more than willing to repay the price for the dlc classes and I’ll finally be able to try the newest maps
About community - its just ok. Not bad, but not good. With my luck ive meet some wholesome people, but most of people just silent. But also i met super toxic players. People can kick you for anything. If youve slightly high ping than average. If you playing not the classs they want or hate. They can just friendly fire you or spoil whole mission progress. Sadly its a myth about super friendly community. Still i understand its far from toxic swamp of dead by daylight for example. Still sad its just mid and not better, as drg for example. Bonus prize for a toxic whiny hosts who exit imidiately after fall on the ground and ruining you to get anything from the mission at all!
This game is 1.6 usd on steam… it might not be the game i want. But it looks like a game i can easily get hooked into since i love shredding through hoards and how can i even be dissatisfied when i am paying such price?
i got it for free during then i bought a second one during a sale for like 3$ for my friend who lost his account with the game it is worth it, i even bought 2 dlc's to get cool weapons for my slayer Bardin
I find that one of the most common complaints about Vermintide 2 is it is mindless left-click spam. That's true on the lower difficulties, as the game doesn't add elites, specials, or massive hordes until the higher difficulties. Makes one wonder how much more well received Vermintide II would be if it didn't gatekeep the difficulties that make the game fun. Game is an all-time classic, but not on Recruit.
I'll be sharing this video with all my friends to see if you can convince them to dive into the Vermintide rabbit hole
I hope they join us!

Just played for the first time tonight woth a friend who bought it for me. It's pretty fun. I'm excited to play more
Vermintide II is amazing; I really hope to see sequels or similar games in the future.
Well you sold me, I had Vermintide 2 on Xbox, but my controller broke and watching this got me hyped to replay it so I snagged it on ps5. It’s on sale currently for around 14.50$ for the ultimate edition.
It's on sale right now for $1.58!!! 🎉
this game is so so good. get your mates to play, we racked up 160 hrs. Best co op replayability I've seen in a game.
Somehow I've landed with Darktide, since I like guns and Imperial Guard more than fantasy. Still gonna give it a try (another). Thanks for the video!
Mmm, best Vermintide recommendation video I've seen. I'll be saving and sharing this.
Really great video that recaps the game pretty well! Also GOD DAMN DOES YOUR KRUBER LOOK GOOD I've never seen that skin before since nobody really plays foot knight
Totally worth it... Its only ever getting better and better!
5500 hours and i can say this is my all time favo game, imo its the best 4 player coop on the market, and i played them all, starting from l4d
5:50 There was a time, they gave it away for free, just after WH Darktide launched.
As Long as there are men like you an me Vermintide 2 will never fall
I just got it a few months ago and i love it
I've played since launch.
Busy downloading it right now with my PS subscription. Going in after playing Necromunda Hired Gun. Expecting a good time.
My only issue is they don't really understand the spund a rat makes when you crush it with a hammer.
Thanks for the review, this is probably the most solid roundup of "state of" issues someone like me wants to know, definately giving the game a pickup
You forgot about Castle Drachenfels, it is also free, so 3 more maps in the base package than shown in the video.
That hack and slash makes this game god tier 😂
I only wish you could transfer progress between platforms. I’ve been playing for years on PS4, now I got a pc and have to start from scratch. I love the game enough to be willing, but I’m not super stoked about regrinding all of Okri’s challanges and general character progression. Still, I now actually have people to play with among my friends so I’m more than willing to repay the price for the dlc classes and I’ll finally be able to try the newest maps
just picked up premium edition for $9, been wanting to try one of these games for a min, and played one on my VR it was pretty fun
Hard to find Cata lobbies sometimes.
I play vermintide and darktide when I'm needing a break from total war
I can easily say YES. Answering on title without watching movie. It's just Left 4 Dead in mediaeval fantasy cover.
I stream the game a fair bit here and there and we always have a blast! (unless we are playing Chaos Wastes and loose continuously for 3 hours lol)
I love vermintide 2 I hope Darktide gets new updates and content.
I love darktide personally cause i know a ton more abt 40k than fantasy, but this is a good game regardless and was the first of the two i played
Played this game a few years back and really enjoyed It but stopped because solo qp on playstation was dead. Would be sick if they added crossplay
i got the game thru humble bundle but still put the 40 bucks to buy the dlcs. Have about 200 hrs. Definitely worth it
Me with another 100h since January: y e s
I bought that game over the weekend, finding a game on Xbox is hella quick, like comparable to darktide even.
I just picked the game up for 6 bucks and I’m gonna try it, thanks for the great vid
Welcome to the community!
This game is 1.6 usd on steam… it might not be the game i want. But it looks like a game i can easily get hooked into since i love shredding through hoards and how can i even be dissatisfied when i am paying such price?
i got it for free during
then i bought a second one during a sale for like 3$ for my friend who lost his account with the game
it is worth it, i even bought 2 dlc's to get cool weapons for my slayer Bardin
I find that one of the most common complaints about Vermintide 2 is it is mindless left-click spam. That's true on the lower difficulties, as the game doesn't add elites, specials, or massive hordes until the higher difficulties.
Makes one wonder how much more well received Vermintide II would be if it didn't gatekeep the difficulties that make the game fun. Game is an all-time classic, but not on Recruit.
the game is playable solo, but legendary with bots is very hard and cataclysm with bots is basically solo cuz they all die on the first horde.
Great video, thanks man.
It's on sale now for 1 USD.
