  • Hello, A-Sven-gers! Thanks for checking out my review of the Nintendo 64 Rumble Pak (NUS-013). Released in NA July 1997, Nintendo was the first to bring haptic force feedback to a controller, which became an industry standard since. This video explores its use, installation and some of the pros and cons of this innovative device.
    Thanks for watching, participating at my gaming events and following & subscribing Svenny McG on your favourite social media app. Take care, and be good to each other!

    did you hear they originally wanted to use the rumble pack as a reload for bullet cartridges/magazine for GoldenEye

    • @SvennyMcG

      I've never heard that, but WOW! That would sure make it interactive. I'm actually shocked we haven't yet seen that feature in any light guns etc

    What I never understood is why the Rumble Pak needs a battery when it attached to the Nintendo 64 controller

    • @SvennyMcG
      @SvennyMcG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wonder if it's due to the power supply and they felt battery control provided the correct amount of input 🤔 Thanks for watching!

    I've modded my rumble paks to not need batteries. The rumble is more effective due to the reduced weight. You should not use 4 modded paks as the current draw is potentially too high. I also modded my controller paks with F-RAM chips so they don't need that internal button cell battery anymore. batteries = bad no batteries = good.

      A very, very neat idea! I've seen 3rd party ones like that but wasn't sure if the rumble was reduced due to poor power draw. But getting off of batteries in both cases is an awesome idea! 👍

  • @Imperialspy

    Do I need those accessories like the memory or expansion pack to save games like Mario Party 3 or Diddy Kong racing?

    • @SvennyMcG
      @SvennyMcG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You only HAVE to have the Expansion Pak to play Donkey Kong 64, Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask and to play the campaign in Perfect Dark; it aids other games in resolution etc but you can play most of the N64 games library without it. Check this video here: th-cam.com/video/fsPG-KXwzzc/w-d-xo.html

    • @SvennyMcG
      @SvennyMcG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To answer your question, I don't believe either Mario Party 3 or Diddy Kong Racing require a memory card. Memory cards are called the "Controller Pak" - some games require them but many do not. Some, like Mario Kart 64, use them for saving ghost race data, but saving your progress (course unlocks etc) save to the cartridge itself. I have a Controller Pak video here: th-cam.com/video/PVS7xoYBU7k/w-d-xo.html

    Hi sir, you said in your video that the rumble pack was not the first device to give haptic feedback but the first to bring it to a controller. can you please give us more details about that

    • @SvennyMcG
      @SvennyMcG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! I have an AWESOME device called the Aura Interactor, a backpack a player would wear that converted sound into pulses. It was created during the Super Nintendo / Sega Genesis era and supported those consoles. I have it and am looking forward to making a video on it soon so stay tuned! 😊 Thanks for watching 👍

    Do I have to have the rumble pack to use a memory card for the N64 or can I just plug in the memory card into the controller

    • @SvennyMcG
      @SvennyMcG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't want to use both you don't need to have both items. However, some games allow you to got swap the two, essentially play the level with rumble then when you complete you get a prompt asking to save, at which point you unplug the rumble and put the memory card in.

    • @SvennyMcG
      @SvennyMcG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some games will allow you to put rumble in player one and put a memory card in the 2nd controller (if you have one)
