Kotori, Pilot Prodigy doesn’t change other crew costs. It just adds crew 2, in addition to any other other crew costs they might have. So such vehicles that has a crew 1, now have both crew 1, and crew 2.
Only ever played against hinata once,but I also own a ishhin commander deck the reason I like these 2 commanders is cause they represent the spirit of commander perfectly.This game is over 25 years old so naturally there is a huge card pool to go with it.In most constructed formats there are already set staples and cards that are just considered good no matter what deck they are put in,however there are cards that are considered bad or mediocre only because they Don't have many cards that work well with them,or only work in niche scenarios.Enter hinata,a card that it first glance looked fairly innocent not to particularly broken,until people realized it's cost reduction effect also worked with X spells.Now X spells by them selves aren't Nessessary bad cards the problem is,they require a huge mana investment to be remotely useable,usable, almost have to tap out in order to use one and if it gets countered,then u basically just lost a full turn of casting,hinata fixes that issue with their ability and grants value to otherwise lackluster X spells that exist in jeskai colors,it's great design space and I hope to see more commanders that give lackluster cards a home to shine in😁😁😁
Just a heads up, Mindlink Mech can only become a copy of target nonlegendary creature that crewed it. So Mindlink Mech couldn't have become a copy of Teshar.
Yeah, really puts a damper on mindlink mech, although if you crew a pilot it does get the +2 crew, which can help with your bigger stuff. I find Esper sentinel to be another great crew for it since you essentially get a 4 power ES on top of your normal one for your turn. Pretty good tax if your opponents want to interact. Cepahlid constable is disgusting with mindlink mech too.
It is kind of cool in this scenario, but a majority of the time, making a copy of a legendary creature isn't a great idea, so I can understand why the card reads the way it does.

My man be loving the pilot maker. I made a shorikai deck and he's surprisingly good. Insane card draw with good one sided board whipes. Unwinding clock makes shorikai absolutely insane with just one mana rock. Can use his ability on each opponents turn and then run him in on your own turn if you want.

Sac druid to put 24 counters on thopter 1, sac thopter buff thopter 2 with 50, thopter 3 with 102, thopter 4 with 206 carrion feeder with 414 sac feeder boost ballista with ~900 +1/+1 counters
what i love about magic is that you can always find new love for mediocre cards. tectonic was the first card i removed from my klauth deck, but Isshin loves it so much!

Don't vehicles have summoning sickness? As such, you wouldn't have been able to activate Shorikai's ability that first time as it's a tapped ability.
Yeah they get summoning sickness also you can’t crew vehicles with another vehicle anymore was a rule change made in kamigawa set.

A vehicle only has summoning sickness if it's a creature. If you don't crew it, you can use its ability.
