    You asked what I liked about the video? The attention to weathering to create a most realistic looking model. Just Marvelous, and your in depth description of your methods of application. Thanks!

    Personally, I really enjoy the more weathering and finishing focused videos like this one. I've been building models for a couple years and things like what you showed in this video are what I think will help me elevate my game! Thanks for "opening the curtain on the magic"!

    Hi modelling gang. For the model stand I'm using please visit TheInnerNerd.com :)
    Hope you enjoyed the video and my last model build from the decade of 2020. Great kit by Tamiya and I hope I did it justice. This one's straight from the box to show you what you'll be getting if you haven't already completed it. Thanks for watching and I'll be back in 2021!

    I've binged a lot of your videos recently, and you have taught me a lot so far! I've been painting Warhammer models for about 20 years after starting on Airfix kits when I was a kid, and this has made me want to get into scale modelling a bit more. I think the fact that you use some citadel products also made it feel a bit more 'safe' if that makes sense! Cheers, and keep up the amazing work!

    • @TheInnerNerd
      @TheInnerNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I'm pleased you're enjoying my content even though you're from a different side of modelling :) I used to collect Warhammer 40K, Space Marines and Tau were my factions, but always been more into the scale modelling side. I do want to make a 40K tank of some sort, sometime. Anyway, good luck with your builds and maybe you can try scale modelling again :) Thanks for watching :)

    Great vid. Don't know if Tamiya pays you a commission but on account of this I will now go and fork over the money to buy this gem. And since you asked, I'll say that I vote for more weathering advice on future build reviews. Yours is the look I want to achieve. Subtle, yet interesting and convincing. Well done!

    Amazing build I love this aircraft, love how you follow reference pictures for weathering work and the whole thoughtful process. Videos like yours inspired me to get back to modeling after a very long time (since I was a kid), I struggle to find the time though, and still lot to learn :) Looking forward to seeing more weathering videos like this!

    • @TheInnerNerd
      @TheInnerNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. References are the best source to get things looking as they should and I rarely use the instructions for painting any more. I hope you can get some time to modelling too. I'll be sure to include more weathering throughout this year for sure! Got some big projects lined up after summer! Thanks for watching :)

    That came out great. The real "White 33" is at a museum down the road from me, the Museum of WW2 Aviation in Colorado Springs Colorado. The restoration facility that restored the plane is attached to the museum. Interestingly an old P38 pilot lived in town, came to the restoration facility and they realized he was the pilot of this plane. They managed to get it restored and have him see it fly before he passed away a few months later.

    • @TheInnerNerd

    Clearly a huge amount of work went into the model and the video - thank you! Some unique approaches in your process, well done to document and share these. One point that I am really interested in is the weathering of decals to best integrate them into the surface, for example, slight chipping, scratching, and drybrushing effects to show base colours/materials “below” the insignia as they were applied to aircraft after paint. Curious as to how you approach such details. Cheers!

    Curved cuticle scissors are perfect for cutting out the masking sheets as well as decals. Not sure if you have a pair but they're super cheap to get at any dollar store.

    • @christiankirkwood3402

      @@manofthehour91 $1 scissors... cutting cleaner than a scalpel /Hobby knife... don't you know a metaphor when you see one? for all that effect... why not sit back and order up some masks... $6.00 spells good value to me, you don't have to spend all that time cutting... and one slip... and your up for a set anyway! I've been assembling & scratch - building scale model, aircraft for almost 50 years and pioneered many techniques that have become mainstream by trial and error and ton's of hours and practice at the bench. There are SO many die-cut masks available, in fact tell me how many aircraft don't have good quality, cheap sets available... I'm done with certain, time consuming tasks that are annoying - beyond attaining the skill of cutting your own... or taking to a precise set with a pair of "dollar" scissors... I suppose a set of blades are too expensive for you, as well - I'll take your "reprimand" and continue to do it easy after years of hours homing a skill that is now redundant - sure, it's great to know how to cut masks and to do it yourself, but I've been there and done it all and I'd rather send that time with my wife and daughters while I'm still able to :)

      @@manofthehour91 Oh yeah - economical was the word I used - reference to time and effort as well as extra time and cost to find a "nickel & dime" outlet, I'm Australia, that sell surgical - quality scissors to cut masks perfectly... on top of what I spend for blades and holders... economy is all encompassing, not specific to cost alone :)

    What a stunningly beautiful build and good instructional video (and still with his pleasant voice). This is the kind of build I want for my own models, let alone Lightning which I do have on my shelf. Yes I know it's practice practice practice, but I know I will never be able to.
    What does surprise me, is that, Inner Nerd, you've used many coats of various paints and varnishes over various surfaces, but you've not lost the surface detail.
    All that said, I know you mute the music when you narrate, but it still drives me up the wall 😀

    • @TheInnerNerd
      @TheInnerNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. The key is to thin the paint sufficiently to not clog the details. Only apply the paint as thick as necessary and no more. And I took on board the voiceover audio duck and this is as much as I am able to do with my knowledge right now. I'm sorry that you can't tolerate it. Thanks for watching :)
