Finally!! A Tomcat model that doesn't suffer from being over-weathered! Seems everyone builds tomcat models and then weather them like it's been sitting in the boneyard for 5 years before being placed into service again. You, sir, have done this one to perfection! And...The scratch-built detail in the gear wells and on the gear! Amazing! As a former Tomcat Avionics Tech, I'd be proud to display this one as a centerpiece on my coffee table! ....In a protective display case, of course (I have 2 cats...lol)
Masterful work! Thanks for sharing! My dad was with the Wolfpack when it was formed and during it's first cruise aboard the Enterprise...lots of memories...
Excellent build, I had no idea the kit came with the deck, I wish more companies did that. The decal for the wing swing is also an interesting addition. Thanks for sharing your talents once again.
Amazing build and the VF-1 markings look so quintessentially "F-14." That bit of flashy-ness without being too wild. Thanks for sharing your hard work so we all can learn and benefit!
Josef as always! Super build and superb attention to detail. I seriously wait for when you upload a vid, your quality of builds is above and beyond everything else out there!
Thank you for creating such a detailed tutorial. I'm about to begin building this kit and will use your video as my guide. I appreciate you sharing your talent with us.
Hi Josef, that was a excellent build, your attention to detail was truly great, I have liked the F-14 since watching it in the movie Final Countdown, best regards from Australia, Les
V skutočnosti to bolo pancierové sklo.
Was about to ask why all the addons to make it an early version, then you revealed the kit being used 😅 Looks sensational as with all your previous creations
Thank you all for your feedback. For the early version, the most important is the "Beaver tail", the sensor and the modification of the rudders. The others are just improvements to the kit...
Very nice build ! By the way they are not turn signal lights on the vertical tails. They are formation lights for flying at night and give the other pilots what position they are from each other. I worked for Grumman Aero Space building the F-14's in the USA.
Merci à tous pour vos commentaires. "TopGun" est construit par tout le monde... Si je construis encore des F-14, ce sera la version D en camouflage "low vizible"
Amazing job , hell of a lot of after market though. Thought canopy masks were over kill as after building it my self kit ones are just as good. Still bravo on your work 👍
I wonder if the paint job of the VF-1 Wolf Pack Tomcats inspired the look of Hikaru Ichijo's VF-1J Valkyrie "Vermillion One" in the original SDF Macross TV series? It's well known that Roy Focker's VF-1S "Skull One" copied the paint scheme that the real-life VF-84 Jolly Rogers used for their F-14A Tomcats in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It never occurred to me until just now that the VF-1 Wolf Pack paint scheme does resemble the Vermillion One appearance.
Thank you all for your feedback. I most often use Tamiya Extra Thin glue and GSI's Mr.Cement S. Of course sometimes also super glue and Revell Contakta.
tomcats not my thing, especially an A model, but thats sexy! Im making a B-1B, gonna take some of those tips for the swing wings and use it here. excellent model!
I never understood why so much time and effort is put into super detailing these models, and yet they make the panel lines so dark. You would never be able to see most of these panels from a couple feet away on the actual aircraft, is there a reason for this?
Great build, however this is a very early tomcat so it has a beaver tail, not the one in the kit! Also incorrect vents around the gun. Wheels are of a different version as well.
Ah! I thought maybe it was the right QB kit but the two dialectic panels were left off. They were on the resin block at the beginning and he was test fitting them 11:07 but in the end left them off. I’ve seen reference material that says and shows they were often left off.
@@jmominis Yes unfortunately this catches many people out, this very early tail is the same as the development aircraft and for quite a few production A/C. Not sure you could just take off the dielectric corners though as it’s of a different profile. I do remember seeing them fitted as so in 1977 onboard the Kennedy. Nice to sit in a Tomcat also had the same privilege in RF-8G,, if only I could go back onboard now!
The plane I built (VF-1, number 114) has the dielectric panels dismantled in the photos. It can also be seen in the photos that I show in the video. They often flew without them, and sometimes with only one...
Kit 61114 doesn't have the early version F-14A either. The kit contains parts only for the middle product line of version A. I think the early version was only released by Hasegawa in a limited edition.
Thank you all for your feedback. My wheels are correct. I wasn't sure about the AIM-7's coloring and was mainly drawing from these photos. But I can't have a completely perfect model... www.seaforces.org/usnair/VF/Fighter-Squadron-1.htm www.reddit.com/r/acecombat/comments/9hsiw0/f14a_of_vf1_wolfpack_in_the_70s/#lightbox
@@DetailsScaleModels Wheeliant don't have in offer early wheels hub so you have F-14 wheels but for LATE blocks :) Of course painting is perfect but some details need to be consistent in the convention you have chosen with early 'beaver tail' from QuickBoost
Now that was The Best build of a jet video EVER! Damn gonna watch it some more. Even buy a couple Tomcat kits, Tamiya 's of course maybe 3 . I've done truly been inspired . This kit artist is good , too good! Show me so me some Nam era builds ,yeah! Rolling Thunder era and some Mig Killers even Navy Phantom ll 's F 105 g's and Skyraiders are my favorites. Vman. Ps. That video almost. made Me wet myself!
Thank you all for your feedback. I'm just finishing up a video of the A-4M Skyhawk build. But it won't be the version from Vietnam... But I will definitely return to that period.

Beatiful work. Airfix 1/72 in this scheme was the first model I built as a kid.
Fantastic detail. Was a pleasure to watch.
Great job. And finally found another Josef.
Wow. What an incredible kit. I have been binge watching your videos and I haven't seen one I don't like yet.😊
Masterful work! Thanks for sharing! My dad was with the Wolfpack when it was formed and during it's first cruise aboard the Enterprise...lots of memories...
Absolutely beautiful build. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely outstanding! Both the model and the video production. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The Czech Republic might be a small country, but it's filled with great people 😉
Greetings from Germany 😉

Comme toujours un superbe montage et des techniques de peintures superbes. Une très belle maquette avec tous les add-ons disponibles. Merci ..
Отлично! Профессионально! Браво!
great job and amazing scratchbuilding detail
Fantastic build Josef, the early version looks great.
Incredible effort and details......
Perfektní práce. 👏👏👏
Amazing kit and build!!!

Great movie!
Excellent work, I love the marking choice!
outstanding work as always !!! Carry on my friend !!!
Great Build! ... When you pose it for take off, roll the tail planes down as the pilots hold back on the stick when they are launched.
Nice amount of weathering - most modellers overwork the weathering and end up looking too dark but yours is great!
V tvém podání to vždy vypadá tak jednoduše, tak proč mi to hernajs takhle nejde😆,výborná robota ,dobře se na to dívá👍
Just wanted to say nice build. I need to get mine out of storage and build it.
That was quite superb.....and a great watch 👌🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Awesome build, Josef 💥👍💥

Díky. O "blinkrech" vím, neohlídal jsem si překlad. Dělá mi to letecký laik...
I built Airfix F-14A Wolfpack back in the seventies! Same patterns but without any of there aftermarket components! Never heard of them before!!
Thank you all for your feedback. The early versions varied a bit.
Espetacular!!👏👏👏
You got a sub. Excellent build, sir.

@@DetailsScaleModelsIt is my understanding that the kit you chose is the "late" F-14A. So, that's why you required the early modifications.

cool f14 models
excellent work!

I have some questions:
25:55 what type of varnish did you use to protect the decals?
Super Clear III by GSI (GX100)
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

A very nice build, any chance of getting a link to the accessories you purchased I'm in the US and I would consider purchasing some of them

6:21….wow I’ve been trying this the wrong way. So much easier your way!
At the end of the beautiful job, how much money you had spent?
The kit was the most expensive. The accessories cost about 45 euros. But the investment in accessories was worth it.
awesome !!!

There is another version of that kit that is an earlier Tomcat. That would have been easier to convert.

Stavba nevím, neměřil jsem to. Střih a grafika cca 30 hodin.

Thank you all for your feedback. It depends on the point of view and also on the specific aircraft. But I admit that I do it mainly because I like it.
Great build, however this is a very early tomcat so it has a beaver tail, not the one in the kit! Also incorrect vents around the gun. Wheels are of a different version as well.
Isn’t that why he added the Quick-boost resin conversion to the beavertail?
@@jmominis no it’s a completely different design which is square and does not have the two cut outs!
