    Great video!! The 1650 was one of Oliver’s best sellers. You’ll like those pioneer couplers, I use them on everything. The 8250 pioneers are what came on the 55 series new. That homemade sidehill hitch is neat! There was a factory one available but it’s neat to see the design your dad came up with. It doesn’t look obnoxious and You can’t even really see it unless you’re looking for it. Tractor looks great!

      Thank you for your kind words. I'm getting to the point where most of my tractors now have the Pioneer couplers. I do like them. I liked the original Oliver screw on couplers, but it was time to let them go. (I DID keep them, though - I have several sets). Wish someone could repair them. I didn't know there was a factory hydraulic drawbar. Most people don't even notice mine is on the tractor. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      The 1650 is a wonderful, very versatile, tractor. It used to be my tillage tractor, until 2017, when I bought the White 2-110, and it took over. I still use the 1650 to harrow and for lots of other jobs.

    Thanks for the details on a great old tractor. Beginning in 1969 I spent 17+ years working with Oliver / White equipment at a dealership in central PA. Great little tractor with a smooth running engine. The hyd. hitch is a nice addition for PA hills. Many memories!

    How ya doin PA Farmer. Good video again, you gotta love this old machinery. I grew up with the JD tractor line, as you said you grew up with the Oliver's. They were all good machinery. Actually, the Oliver plow was about the best plow money would buy. Good clearance and actually pulled easier than a IH or the JD. I commented after your 4400 video, but for some reason it didnt download. I said that I had bought a brand new 6600 combine for $32,000. Todays prices are ridiculous. I'm retired myself, but still play with a few acres. My old tractor is a JD 3010. It always brings back memories of the good old days. Take care my friend. Iowa Soybean Farmer.

      HEY Iowa Soybean Farmer - Although I prefer Olivers, I DO enjoy all old tractors. Sometimes my neighbor farmer asks me to help him, and I'll be driving a 3020 or 4020, which is different for me. You're right about the Oliver plows - the Oliver and White plows were some of the easiest pulling plows ever made. I have a couple International plows - couldn't find any good used Oliver plows in our area. They don't pull as easily as the Olivers, but they are pretty good. Thanks for viewing my video and commenting. I enjoyed hearing from you.

      @@AnglesideFarm Tractors become like a part of the family. I don't always feel that way about other machinery, but once I have a tractor for a while, getting rid of it would be like getting rid of a family member - lots of memories. I have an old Farmall C my
      dad bought new around 1949. He put a 4 inch piece of 2 x 4 on the clutch pedal so I could reach it when I was 5 and needed to be able to drive the tractor. That was 60 years ago, and that block of wood is still there - I don't have the heart to remove it.

      @AnglesideFarm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pagrainfarmer that’s funny, my dad did the same thing, put a 2x4 on the clutch of the Farmall H for me. The tractor is long gone but not the memory. Sounds like we are about the same age too.

      @@pagrainfarmer I think Oliver66FarmBoy on his last video was rebuilding and testing some type of hydraulic transmission like you have on this tractor. • @pagrainfarmer
      @pagrainfarmer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SoybeanFarmer3300 Yes - his tractor has the new "3 speed" hydraul shift. So, for each direct drive gear, he has both an "over" and an "under". Mine is a "2 speed" hydrapower unit, which is basically only an underdrive. They do share a lot in common, though. Both of our tractors have 6 forward gears, but his is like having 18 and mine is like having 12, if that makes any sense.

      @@SoybeanFarmer3300 What's nice with both hydraul shift and hydrapower is you can switch from direct to "under" on mine or back (or over or under on his) without using the clutch, which makes for a smooth transition under load. The only drawback is that the tractor will freewheel down hill in the "under" position.

      I bought mine in 2001. It's actually the later "Super Sheller" model. Got it from a guy who had gone to narrow rows and was going to scrap it. It wasn't used much - there was still green paint on a lot of the chains. Got it for $200. Was one of the best deals I ever made. I keep it as a back up. Probably will do a video on it eventually. • @pagrainfarmer
      @pagrainfarmer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another viewer told me that there was a factory option for that kind of device too, but i had never heard of it. My Dad was just looking for a plausible way to move the drawbar so he could adjust a drag-type Oliver plow up the hill on a hillside. His original design was a little cruder - my friend Joe re-designed it and made it much better. Sure is handy. Thanks for watching and commenting. It only had 6 forward gears (no hydrapower, so I passed on it).

    Great choice to put the wide front on. Nice back story on the tractor. Should think about beet juice for weight in the rear tires. Won’t corrode your rims. We used it in our 2017 T 4 New Holland to keep that smaller tractor tight to the ground when feeding round bales.
