This recipe is perfect for Sunday lazy day. Delicious! Glad to see there is no oil. 🌞🌞🌞
Plant base butter is still oil in a different form. So I guess if we remove that it will then be oil free.
"Keep it simple and work within your means" what solid & realistic advice! I have never had pigeon (not sure how to spell what you called them) peas before, can't wait to try em ☺️
Gungo/Pigeon peas. I hope you’ll enjoy it and let me know.

Coconut curry is my favorite. I like to do chick peas with mixed vegetables. This plate look so good lol. I really wish we had scotch bonnet peppers here.
Thank you :). Although the scotch bonnet pepper adds flavor, if you don’t have any you can still make and enjoy this meal.

Your welcome! Yes, the coconut milk enhance the flavor.
I'm surly cooking this tommorow
Great! I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Dam I wish u lived in Boston I would be buying food off you
blessings! lovely dish queen!
i'm going to try this. can i add the chickpeas uncooked (soaked overnight) to the curry mix (ginger and garlic) or does it have to be cooked first THEN add it to the curry mix ?
Love!
Although the chickpeas can be eaten when soak, for this recipe it’s better to cook because it will be too hard. So cook it first then add everything else. It can take a while to cook especially if not soak overnight.
I chop up two scotch bonnets and add to the chichpea curry, adds some 🔥🔥🔥 to the mix
Yuh is ah boss!! Is rice Jasmine? Or Basmati?
Basmati
Where can you get the pumpkin ??? I live in the Bronx...
You should be able to purchase it at your local supermarket in the produce section. I used the calabaza pumpkin.
Not 100% oil free as the plant butter is oil, but it is so minimal that it shouldn't be a problem. This looks amazing, and I am glad to see the authentic peas and rice combo here and not red beans being used.
Thank you! The oil free was more so for the chickpeas though.
I watched the video twice. Now, I can’t remember did you add the pumpkin raw of cooked?
Raw dear
Thank you for sharing your meals always look amazing and delicious If the home next door to you is empty let me know so I can purchase or rent I need to move next door to you so I can eat healthy. Blessed love Queen chef
Lol, kool.
where did you get your peas from>? and the Pot that you used to cook your dish in?
I bought the peas in Walmart and the pot in Ross.
And which part of US you in? They don't have those at my local Walmart here in Dallas
I’m in Florida. You can also check at another local supermarket in the West Indian section.
@@AuthenticPlantbasedEats yes that is what I was thinking too we have some Caribbean markets but havent really been inside them in a while. And we have MANY African markets too. I usually shop there at times I will be more on the look out for them.i wanna try them. The curried chickpeas I have bought from a Trini restaurant and they were GUD fi tru!!!! But I get discouraged sometimes trying to cook this stuff at home because it doesn't have the flavor. I limit my salt intake so I'll trying to find flavors without all the salt....most dishes I try lack the flavor in the food.amd I LOVE Caribbean food. Was married to Jamaican men that cooked and I loved eating the food still do. But I will try. Thank you for the posts. They Are motivating me to try and cook them.
@@GNQ78 no need to limit salt intake if you use real salt like pink himalayan or celtic. Not saying to overdo it but the body does need real salt and it does bring out the natural flavors in food. 😍
What does Shelly mean please?
Google will tell you. 😉
Just when I was about to give up. Thank God. I have veggie mince help me out please
Check out some of my veggie chunks recipes you can do the same with the veggie mince. I also have a veggie mince and cabbage recipe check that out aswell.
Oil-free with butter and coconut milk!? Think again.
Clearly it said oil free coconut curry chickpea & Pumpkin. Coconut does produce natural oil which is minimal in this recipe. So maybe I needed was to elaborate more...( Minimal oil) Not necessary. I could have use actual coconut oil... However common sense tells me that this coconut curry has no added/process oil.
I’m not sure if it said oil free rice and Gungo peas so please tell me.
I won't quibble over whether it was natural or processed oil. But I maintain it was not oil-free. I am sure it was delicious though. Great job of maintaining a vegan lifestyle. God bless you.
@@phyllisgordon6577 Yes, it was oil free curry. No "oil" used.
Splitting hairs I’m sure everything with any protein has oil relax .
By the way what kind of pumpkin did you use ?I was also wondering why you cubed the pumpkin so big is that because of even cooking of easier plating?
How long did the peas take to cook initially? Never done it before but was wondering if the additional half hour of cooking would make it too soft.
Canned are already cooked.
