    Great job, so much satisfaction in seeing something most people would scrap given another chance to live. Probably more CO2 efficient than a new Tesla. Cant wait to see you clean this bad boy up!

    You got a GEM there. That truck here in the midwest with just surface rust would bring some decent coin. Nice score!

    @PeteyG708 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Gotta love these old GMT400 trucks. That thing is straight and doesnt look like it has alot of rust. And it is hard to kill those old 454s. It looks like you have have put that molded hose on backwards but if it works, it works.
    Take care of that old truck man, she will run for ages!
    You just got a sub as well!

    • @ClassALiving

      It is impossible to put the hose on the other way because of the size differences of the hose ends, thanks!

      @@ClassALiving oh interesting. I have to look on my 98's 350 but that may be the difference in the 454 and the 350.
      Anyways great job with the truck!

    That switch as you probably know by now is your cargo light switch...you got a good rig...clean it up...spend some money tweaking it and polishing it up...inside and out. I literally have the same exact truck. If you have the 4l80E transmission, there is an update for it with a newer wiring harness inside the pan. If you have some shifting problems, that is most likely your problem. If it has the 410 rears, you can yank 25000 lbs absolutely no problem, that's including the truck weight. Throw a good Maaco paint job on it and that truck will last a long long time.

  • @Chunky246
    @Chunky246 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Exhaust looked good to me after she ran for a bit. A jet wash and she'll look good! Although I wouldn't paint the wheels, I think the surface rust looks pretty cool - the patina look!

    A lot of people got bad things to say about GMC but they're a great truck and listen how good it's running after sitting all those years. I'm sure it's going to have a few leaky gaskets here and there from sitting but once you get it all dialled in I'm sure you're going to have a great truck...

  • @andrewcullen8635
    @andrewcullen8635 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Here in the U.K years ago it was common to get a basic Radio player or Radio/Tape player. Equalisers were either an option but normally wired through the vehicle wiring loom. But if you bought an after market one it was quite common to connect the Power Wire direct to the Battery (Normally Red with a ring that fitted on the Battery clamp securing bolt) like the one you pointed out just before the end.

  • @oldmgbs2

    That AC compressor won't come on until there is gas in the system. There is a switch that can be jumper out on that big silver tank looking thing to tell if the compressor will run. Good luck.

    • @d0glesby
      @d0glesby 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There should be a high pressure switch, and a low pressure switch (on either side of the AC system) that will engage when there's an appropriate amount of pressure in the system. DO NOT run the compressor manually (overriding the pressure switches) without sufficient cooling agent/lubricant in the system, or you WILL burn the compressor up. It doesn't take long to cause damage to the compressor running this way.

    I've had my Chevy Silverado 1500 for 12 years.
    It's a 1993 too
    That dually will make you a good truck, keep an eye on the oil, they like to leak out of the front and rear mains after 150k miles on average.
    The 350 TBI's go down at around 250k too, so start looking for an extra spare motor to keep around for a swap lol, i've put in 3
    Also make sure you ziptie up the upper radiator hose and keep it away from the alternator, (don't ask me how I know lul)

    FYI As an owner of a 98 chev there are somethings to be aware of with these 90s chevy truck doors:
    The plastic interior door handles are prone to break easily so be careful. Even "new" replacements are usually brittle.
    Never lean your arm on the window glass unless it is fully opened. These doors can be a nightmare to repair the guts.

    Hey Nate when you are replacing drive belts on a Chevy and most jeeps simply
    Put a socket and a breaker bar on that bolt on the tensioner. The bolt is made
    Into the tensioner and won't come loose. And I KNOW ya got a breaker bar! On most Ford's there is a square
    Hole 1/2 inch for a breaker bar.

    Test your fan clutch. Lots of overheat problems caused by weak fan clutch... It should not spin "freely" but rather have resistance. Sounds like a tap or knock on this side of the camera. Put some b-12 chemtool or sea foam or like to engine oil it may quite that.

But before that I just use the refill cans that they sell on the Shelf with the oil and the freon, sealer and leak detector it all comes in the same can so that work just fine the first two years I only had to put one can in per year then I was able to fix the problem.

    Is that 4wd? If Rwd, smaller engines offer better traction, as well as mileage. Even with 4wd, if you have a lighter engine, you don't have to use the 4wd as often, but they aren't worth switching out. The paint looks fine to me, just wash and wax at a self serve car wash, and while there, hit the underside and battery box with the spray wax.
