Perfect Test-Piped B8/B8.5 S4/S5 Sound! Magnaflow Resonated X-Pipe Installed!

  • In this video, I show you my new exhaust setup which includes:
    -Test pipes
    -Stock downpipes with resonators replaced with Magnaflow Resonated X-Pipe
    -AWE Tuning Touring Exhaust
    The installation of the Magnaflow resonated x-pipe has eliminated rasp and drone with my test pipes. However, I do notice some weird vibration from 3k rpm and below--especially when the engine is cold, or when I am decelerating in this rpm range. I will report back later with any other findings.
    A huge thanks to Kyle at Paul's Garage in Scotch Plains, NJ for the install!

  • @brs2c
    @brs2c 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Everyone- The magnaflow 11386 is what you needs if you run a 2.5” exhaust. 11385 is what you do if you run stock diameter. This exhaust is going from 2.5” test pipes to 2.25”stock downpipes a 2.25” magnaflow x pipe, and then back to 2.5” AWE. Not ideal.

    • @BlacklistBuilds

    I recently had this done and after about a week I noticed 2 things you mentioned: the fiber like material coming from the MF part (found some in my tailpipes) and the bad vibration on deceleration uber 4K rpm’s. Have you noticed any changes or solved the issue with the vibration?

    • @BlacklistBuilds

      I had vibrations reduced by installing mopar dampers. I'll be making a video on that soon. As for the magnaflow, unfortunately it's a common issue, but I have yet to notice the sound dampening material breaking off.

    At the end of the video he says he's thinking about putting high-flow cats in the stock location. I have not found any high-flow cats for the stock location yet. Problem is if you're running APR stage 2 with Ultra charger or something similar the stock cats usually melt between 20 to 25 miles. Mine did so just be aware. I'm currently running APR with ultracharger, stock Muffler with the rear resonator, and jhm test pipes and jhm high-flow cats which locate the cats to under the drivers seat instead of up in the engine compartment. There was a ton of rasp and drone for the first 700 miles but now it seems to have dissipated and the tone and drone has been reduced. It is still a little bit loud for me at 82 decibels but I'm seeing if it will continue to reduce or I will go back to stock cats and just change them every 15,000 miles as a precaution.

      @@BlacklistBuilds Blacklist Builds Very sorry about that Blacklist Builds... You are right. You did say in the stock down pipe location. Sincerely apologize. I would really like to put a resonator on mine but my JHM High Flow cats are in the location where it seems you put the MagnaFlow resonator in the old downpipe (under the front seats). And I still have the stock back resonator and the stock Mufflers. Any suggestion on how to make this platform quieter with the jhm test pipes, jhm high-flow cats in the downpipes, and the stock back end resonator with stock exhaust?

    • @BlacklistBuilds
      @BlacklistBuilds  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem 👍 and your best bet is adding bullet style resonators. It's hard to make it any quieter with your current setup considering that you no longer have the cats which are the most restrictive part of the exhaust system. I currently have test pipes with hfcs in the stock dp location and have the stock exhaust; it's too quiet for me haha

    • @lousogoodx
      @lousogoodx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryanbarry1522 Hey Ryan, I am in New York too and put on the jhm high-flow cats because my factory ones failed, I have the stock muffler on with test pipes and jhm high-flow cats, additionally we welded in a totalflow mini muffler 2.5 in by 3.5 in body width by 4 in body length by 6 in total length (4 db sound reduction max) to make it more quiet and it is almost identical to full stock exhaust and cat sound with an ultra charger kit and stage 2 tuning from APR. I'm currently using L-shape spacers on the O2 sensors and plan on having to swap in the old catalytic converters to pass New York inspection. Happy tuning and rocketing with your S4.

    Hey man, which shop did you get the test pipes install done? I'm in the area as well and looking to reach out to shops for some quotes. Thanks
    Edit: oops nvm, just saw that you did this yourself

    Maybe just test pipes and the rest stock? Difficult exhaust.

      I've ran that setup. It sounds super raspy and bad.
      Check my latest video for my current and favorite setup.
