- Leslie Richard McKeown was a Scottish pop singer who was the lead singer of the Bay City Rollers during their most successful period (1973-1978)
The band had 10 Top-10 hits in the UK, two of which peaked at No'1.
In the U.S. the band charted 6 Top-40 hits, including their No'1 single 'Saturday Night' from 1976.

The Bay City Rollers, I sang with you almost every night, cranked loudly in my bedroom. The tough things Les and I guess the others went through. I’ll never forget your tartan, adorable cute smiles and wonderful voices. My condolences to your family, friends and other fans Les.

I was a huge Bay City Rollers fan back in the day and I still am. I had all the plaid clothes and Bay City Rollers socks. To this day I still have all of their albums that I never parted with. Back in the day I painted a lot and I have a portrait of the group I did. I was very proud of it. As of now, it has been in my attic, but I think it is time to bring it down for people to enjoy it! Les, RIP, you will be loved and missed!!

I know that so, so many fans will cry over this loss.Still heartbroken 💔. At the time thankful we experienced all this.

BCR music had so much energy. They were a big part of my teen years. They played in the Ardree Hotel, waterford, Sth Ireland on my 16th birthday April 6th 1974. RIP Les, thank you for such fond memories and I was so lucky to hear you in Vicker St, Dublin a number of yrs ago x
