    Best video you saved me a lot of money. Nice and detailed. Did the whole job for around $110 since I also did the coolant crossover. As a beginner whos never done this it did take me a few times to get it right (the crossover) make sure you clean the motor portion of all the left over junk from the old crossover to make a proper seal. Only issue is the Mahle thermostat is very difficult to get with the strike going on. I had to suck it up and get the Duralast at auto zone for $25. Crossover was the metal one from Amazon $46. Coolant from the dealer $15. The no spill kit Amazon for $19. I hope this video is monetized for you and you get a lot of money from it you deserve it. Also, thank you for screwing the dealers and rip off mechanics from not getting my business they probably would have charged me $500. If I can do this job anyone can. Just make sure you have the proper tools.

    I find if you take thermostat off and then remove from hose, it’s much easier.

    S&E's Garage, your video about your Jeep Grand Cherokee with thermostat rationality code was found today when I was searching on TH-cam. I did my DIY repair on my ’12 Chrysler 200 Touring convertible yesterday. The transverse mounted engine in the 200 makes doing this type of repair much more difficult. There was very little space on the passenger side of the Pentastar V6 to get in there with tools. What worked for me was removing the coolant reservoir and I used a T30 bit inserted in my magnetic 1⁄4-inch drive socket to my ratchet for removing and installing to my Gearwrench inch pound torque wrench. I didn't have a P0128 code but now my temperature gauge shows middle of the scale, as it should be. You did a nice job with your video.

    I have 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and went to the Amazon link and they say it won’t fit which doesn’t seem right. Have you seen that before with other years of the Jeep Grand Cherokee?

    Two questions! Now that you’ve changed the thermostat, where does the needle sit? Second question, where does one buy the computer contraption you have?! Seems pretty robust.

    After this fix will it automatically clear the check engine light or will you have to wipe the code? Also, what if we have air bubbles when we are bleeding the thermostat. In your case you didn’t have any. But I’m no mechanic and just want to be aware in case it happens when I go to do this fix

    • @SEsGarage
      @SEsGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The code should change to a history code and shut the light off. It’s just faster to clear it. As long as you burp the cooling system you’ll be fine

    What diameter hose did you use for radiator drain?

    • @billy-v
      @billy-v 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had a piece of 3/8 inside diameter hose that was prob a drop loose, so I put a hose clamp on it and it worked fine.

      Yeah much easier to just let the coolant gush out of the engine soaking you, the engine, and the ground in coolant. Not sure why I didn’t think of that. ;)
