This video is the best! Great detail and led to a successful project. I used the tape method when reassembling as well. I taped the blind bolt in place along with the flex socket and a 4in extension. I taped them along the heater hose. Once the thermostat housing was lined up I just needed to get a ratchet in place and start tightening. The tape broke loose and I removed it afterward with long pliers. There was no way I was getting the blind bolt in place otherwise. I also use an inspection mirror to help locate the head of the bolt during disassembly. Without this video I would have been in trouble.

Thank you! I should've listened to you about using only OEM parts!. Well, Autozone part after 2 hrs of removing and install the part the small metal tube was slight larger not going in enough to seal off the connection. Started up and leaked like hell! Found the correct part at Advanced auto...Always use OEM for electrical and important parts! Thanks again great video you saved me $500!🤑😃

Great video did one of these for the first time today . Took about 2 hours thanks to your great video . The only thing I did different was I didn’t even remove that bracket or the bracket bolt for that one hose I honestly forgot that part of the video . Either way I just slid the thermostat in and out with the bracket still attached

thanks for making this video, it was very helpful. to the folks at Jeep - this is a terrible engine cooling design, it can take many hours to do this service if you have never done it before. that "bolt in the blind" is the worst thing ever, not to mention all the stuff you need to remove to get at a common failure item.

Sounds like Mopar found an engine and just fir it into the cherokee. This engine was not designed for this model. Bad designers...Fiat is bad...no Renault?? Not good for jeep.

I’m fairly mechanically inclined, and this fix was frustrating, but it wasn’t very difficult.
To get to the blind bolt (bottom right of therm housing) I used a short 1/4” 10mm socket and a 3” 1/4” extension. You can get it perfectly on the bolt. From there I added a 1/4” swivel another 3” extension and then the ratchet. Small tools are the key.
