    Good work. I have used a good hacksaw blade at 45 degree angle to clean threads.

    Good video. I just pulled the pinion seal on my r190 yesterday. Not having any luck finding one. My seal no. Is mpt144 not having any luck finding one. Probably go by dimension Monday

      The R-190s were available with several different rear axles. If you know which axle you have, I can tell you which seals it takes.

      @@BareKnuckleBinder I'm heading over to the farm in a hour or so. I'll see if I can find some numbers on it. It's a 2 speed rear end.

      Couldn't find any numbers on rear end. Really needs pressure washing but everything is frozen this morning. Going off the vin tag on the door it should be a RA146 18,500 lbs rear end. I think.....

    in my job we use acetone in the process of making the stuff cigarette filters are made of, acetone is a solvent but it is not a solvent for petroleum products, brake cleaner is i think. nice videos

    I decided to deep six my ra-15 for a early Dana 60 with the wide 6 bolt….I did like that bulbous pumpkin…it really made the truck look totally classic….

    I would love to see a walk around your KB2...

      I think that's a great idea. Actually I think a walkaround of each truck, its quirks and the laundry list of what needs to be done would be some cool videos.

    I was shown a method to make fitting diffs like this a little easier. Use a bar or suitably sized pipe and bolt it to the Universal Joint. That gives you a lot more leverage and makes it easier to get level.

      @BareKnuckleBinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That makes a lot of sense, I’ll do that on the next one. Thanks!

    Do you know the axle shaft diameter? And how many splines? Does yours have the "no-spin" locker?

    • @BareKnuckleBinder
      @BareKnuckleBinder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Joe, I’m about to do another project involving the S-160 rear axle soon, so I’ll get ya the measurement and spline count then. Geof Fowler probably has that info handy- no lockers in the rear diff on this one.

    And where did you find that differential cover gasket?

      Good question! I just searched the original p/n in google. Several popped up, I got this one (and a few extras) from Aftermarket Express.

    Did you say “Oxfo”……?
    For phosphoric acid?
    In the past you cold get the prep stuff easily…now they make it crazy hard….not even sure I can even find a two part paint system….?

    That black stuff is thin! Like painting on ink.

    The finished product looks amazing! My RA15 needs this done as it is leaking pretty bad. I can tell the brake assemblies are a bit different between the 25 and the 15, but do you know how close the differential is between the two? Wondering if I could expect to see the same stuff when I disassemble a RA15. Great job on the video too, very nicely done.

    • @BareKnuckleBinder
      @BareKnuckleBinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! The RA15 diff will be a lot lighter haha, but the overall construction and how it comes apart is pretty much the same. I’ve got to go through the same process on the RA10 on my S-120, so maybe I should do a follow up video of that.

    How is the paint holding up?

  • @gregvanderboom5011

    Great video! Good job getting er done. That POR 15 is expensive stuff. It looks great. Is the POR 15 worth the price and effort? I used Rust-Oleum brush on oil based enamel on a rear axle I did almost 40 years ago... It's held up pretty good. On my KB2 I was thinking about using some Eastwood chassis paint. It's kinda expensive so I not sure it's worth it. Whatever I use I'm sure it will hold up longer than I'll be around. I really appreciate you, and your videos my friend.

    • @BareKnuckleBinder
      @BareKnuckleBinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really think the POR15 is worth it. Next time I use it, I’ll try and have several projects lined up because it runs really well and goes on thin. So realistically I could do many projects with one can. One problem is that once you open it and expose it to air, ya pretty much gotta run through it!

    Let's go get ahead that's going in our new route and 2 new rare axles. Just get to new rare axles just go fine, I said a nice Dodge. Don't you wear axles? Put them on there. Do that? You have to, you. Don't like changing stuff. I understand that, but it be safe and sorry. Me a lot of people get me older trucks. Trucks and get newer frames form form and switch engine over. I know you don't want to switch to engine over. And you know her when in a long run. You'll have a long of vehicle a long time with a new engine
