Hope bri understands, your passion for building the root cellar is a testament. You built it yourself for your family and fine job may I say. I'm sure the home rebuild will reflect the same principles.

Arthur, the magic is in YOU! Every day, everywhere you go, kids get encouraged and taught new skills, fun happens, Bri gets whatever you can do for her, the animals get fed and watered and even get scratched and petted. You, my friend, are a real man: dad, husband, friend, and homesteader.

He's been on a time crunch with the hired dirt work. And, putting new in the house, before the dirt work and drains are done would be a bad idea.

Art put it in the corner , training it to grow up high maybe even bend a cattle panel around it and then underneath it put a bench for Bree to have a quiet little nice space to sit and read or contemplate or hide. I am sure she would love that

My son was in construction- he started by hanging sheet rock and watched the home builders- he researched and started building himself. He developed his own company. A joy to watch him grow! Makes be curious how you started? You have so much knowledge and skill! Fun to watch the progress! Prayers for strength to finish your home❣️ I know it will be lovely.

Good job with the root cellar! Like it very much. You are right with the momentum ...
And it helps to complete a thing and have some satisfaction before tackling the bigger stuff. So grading and french drains next, when the excavator-guy ist back?....then you'll have peace of mind: the house and what you will do with it will finally stay dry.
Everybody out there pushing for the house build: have patience. This is going the right way, from bottom up. (Greetings from a civil engineer in municipal planning)

Paint the bottom of the block wall around the pipes. You need to water proof that wall and the others, that will wick moister into your cellar, and french drain the back side if you haven't already decided that. This is so nice and will serve you family for many generations! Thumbs up! and congrats on a Boy and Girl twins!

I was always told to to add some old iron washers or something small and iron to the base of the grape vine at the roots to help the vine out. The people that told me about it grew thousands of pounds of grapes every year so im guessing they are right but im not 100% sure.
