Hi Akshat,, as u have multiple times spoken about expense ratio on MFs , aren't the rate of returns shown on MF is exclusive of expense ratio. So, in that case if we are happy with the history of the rate of returns that is mentioned on MFs, shudnt we be just buying it irrespective of expense ratio... Please clarify this, it would be really helpful

Got my first dividend today. It was $0.18. But, it's a beginning! Gunning for that first 100k.
The first 100k is the most difficult one because it's looked at from a 1k perspective which means you need to 100x. That's waaay more difficult than 10x that 100k to 1M. Have a million ..Got it.. The best strategy that I understand is Voo for most of my portfolio let it grow for many years as your work. Then as I get close to retirement, transition some of it to high yield div etfs; VYM for example. Also I’ve been finding VIG to be a good balance to dividends and safe growth.
Part of what makes the first 100k tougher is you're new. I made rookie mistakes (dividend investing) the first year or two, and investing wasn't as routine. It took over 3 years to hit 100k, cheerfully accepting 10% returns. The 2nd 100k took a little over a year once I switched to growth stocks. Once you're getting good returns, you start throwing everything at it. Get a bonus? Invst it. Get a raise? Invest it. Tax refund? Invst it. Fiancee returns your ring? Invst it. ;-)

Anybody know what would be a good investment for a stable monthly income? I would like to eventually be earning monthly income from investing to go along side what I earn from work I would obviously have my long term investments but it would be nice to have some extra cash every month.
@@kashkat987 I always believed in long term Invstment as a savings vehicle for retirement. As I am a passive invstor, with a day job does not allow me to monitor stocks movement actively, DCA is the only way. Or else, if I have a bigger capital pot I have to engage a Financial-Advisor like "Brenda Gay Mclean" who has made me understand that you must have a strategy. So i do not worry about short term performance that's why i follow her trades. Q1 of 2022 came to an end and i have accrued just north of $196k as raw-profits.

I agree, I don’t intend to hold stocks for so long either, so If you’re in need of short term investments, why don’t you reach out to a financial advisor for guidance, don’t get me wrong Akshat does a great job, but financial advisors are much more experienced and well grounded in this field.

@@rowlandstones2168 The outcome was great, a financial advisor really did teach me alot about the market, you get to learn bunch of tricks and in-depth insight on what works in the market and what doesn't. in terms of profit, within a year I started using a financial advisor, I had a growth of roughly $470K, which was 2times more than I usually made investing on my own.

Interesting , the stock market is currently experiencing a decline while bond yields are on the rise. "Cutting the flowers and watering the weeds" is so true. The best way to tackle that psychologically is "Tax Loss Harvesting".
See, every year you make some profits and some loss. Instead of sitting on those losses, sell the stocks with losses along with those with profits. What this will do is, it will reduce your net profit for the financial year and hence help you save taxes. Also, this would be a great that to reinvest that money in a better stock this time.

Secondly - if one is only doing long term investing, how to pay for goals like buying a house, etc. should one withdraw from these long term holdings? Or it’s better to do separate investing for these goals

I’m not good doing it alone but getting into the market has been my best decision so far in my road to financial independence as it turned out lucrative for me.
Great stuff. I watch several youtube videos on how to trade in the stock market but haven't made any headstart because they are either talking some gibberish or sharing their story of how they made it and I do not want to make mistakes by taking risks in my own hands.
The best strategy to use in trading stock is to trade with a professional who understands the market quite well, that way maximum profit is guaranteed. Because i have learnt along the way of my investment that research and analysis are important, note that experience is more needed than luck when it comes to the stock market.
Great advice, i used to just watch youtube tutorials and videos,but still made losses when i traded on my own. luckily i came across and watched an interview on CNBC where the anchor kept mentioning "...Kathy Genelle Britton...". This prompted me to get in touch with her, her strategy and experience are what has made me so much profits these past months.
The best way to find that balance between saving and living is by investing. This way you get to have your saving intact and then live comfortably off the revenue coming in from your investments. Financial freedom is possible, you just need to know what to do and when to do it. I am a living testimony.

I agree most of the your thinking process as an investor.
Last few videos are not lacking new learnings. It fills sometimes you are forcibly releasing videos every day.
Instead of that if you can cover macro economics topics which can affect business in near future or long term. I personally feel you are best at this and this insights are must for any stock market investor.
Small correction 15% annual returns on 10 lacs means 12.5 k monthly returns.

"Don't cut your flowers and water the weeds" - Good point and totally agree but flowers do wither if you don't pluck and use them. Weeds dont give any benefit that point taken... But flowers die too (prices fall). Pls do make a detailed video on profit booking.
Today, I realized how good of a return I am making from past few years. My capital isn't in crores and that's why I had some subconscious thoughts that were not positive. I'm in those 1 percent people and that too top section of that 1 percent.

I've bought Tata Motors during 2nd wave of Covid. I saw almost 130% returns. However I've not booked the profit as I read and heard not to do so unless you need money. I'd seen the profit fall to 60% and considering time factor also the annual return is much lower than that.

Sadly the GDP growth comes at the price of the salaried middle class. The government is choking the salaried class with heavy taxes.
It comes at a heavy cost to middle class private enterprise salaried and small business tax payers -- the government keeps raising the DA dearness allowance for the 90% corrupt government employees who have additional cadh income often more than their salary; whereas the small private sector employees and small business tax payers did not even get any relief by increase in standard deduction or added deduction of 20-25k for small amount multiple medical expenses that cannot be claimed in mediclaim, etc

Thanks. Informative video. But I don’t agree with your logic of 8% GDP + 6% inflation for returns. This is due to the fact that GDP growth factors in real GDP. That means nominal GDP growth was adjusted with inflation. So inflation is adjusted inside GDP. It isn’t external to that.
