What did you think of Car Trek 7? We know it is shorter but we were able to shoot 7 and 8 in the same period as we would normally shoot 1 series so Car Trek 8 is coming with much less of a delay!
The Mazda really seems like it belonged to a caring owner who took care of it and tuned it, then sold it to someone who slapped some stickers on it and drove it till the motor went bad.

You could probably build one for that price. E30 shell a couple grand, heck I’ve got a 4.4 v8 with a 6 speed laying on the floor in my shop…and there are a couple companies that sell v8 swap kits. Would be doable for 6k
"They look like Home Depot bolts..." Yeah, that's how they built them at TVR. I am genuinely surprised that TVR is still moving under it's own power. They've never been known for build quality, reliability, or refinement. Or safety. I remember when it hit the tuning scene all those years ago, and it really was revolutionary. Nobody had ever customized a TVR, so when one as wild as this appeared, everyone lost their minds. Fun fact; the guy who built it, who owned Charisma, built a Renault 5 GT Turbo before this TVR, and it was just as wild.
Definitely need a cheap family van "family road trip" series. Lots of the crappy stuff we do as parents: car seat races, stroller stowing, racing to the rest area before the toddler pees...

The RX7 is ICONIC, and will always be beautiful; especially in yellow. You guys nail it every season; the whole spirit of the show is on point. It makes my day when they come out. The chemistry between you three is great. Keep making amazing work fellas.
But did you see the Renault Alpina turbo that he was supposed to have for this series? He couldn't get it in time for filming, but it would have been the coolest of the 3 in my opinion. Freddie had his for several months, I saw it on one of his videos last year.
Imagine TVR actually as good vehicle, they would be insanely sought after. Well too bad, being an unsafe and unreliable death trap is a cool title non the less.

Honestly it was really refreshing to see Tavarish win one. I'm not biased in any way, it was just getting old seeing him constantly in the car that was on the furthest end of the spectrum with everyone else (especially Ed) cheating on price. Still, I'd rather have the TVR. It's just sad seeing what became of it. IMO it was ruined prior anyway from those mods, but watching it be so broken in general was pretty brutal. The car deserves a resto for sure, hopefully the new owner will do that. It sucks to see such a rare car go down like that. Yeah they had terrible build quality from the start, but they're extremely unique both in style and performance. I always liked their weirdness. They basically strived for doing things no one else would. Making their own racing style engines, extremely wild styling inside and out, and insanely lightweight. Basically "street legal" race cars. Kind of like if Pagani made a full range of cars.
It was nice. To be honest, rebuild the RX7 and then you'll actually enjoy it. Low compression engines are usually low on power and also why it takes ages for it to start. But past that, they're fun. :D (and a "cheap" RX will always come with a blown engine 🤣)
Yes, Freddie, rebuilt the rotary ASAP and you'll have a greater chance of saving the irons (won't be scored yet). Rebuild it, paint it, and it could be worth $40K+ considering the condition of the rest of the car.
One would not notice it when revving up because of the boost. But you can also leave the engine alone and it would not really kill it Pointers from Rob Dahm or the Vargas brothers on the rebuild...prepare more Valvoline than usual if it would be Rob
I actually like all three of the cars for different reasons. The Mazda, because i'd like to learn more about rotarys, The TVR, just because it's weird and rare. The BMW, because someone had the stones to stuff a V8 in something that was never intended for it. Great short series. I am looking forward to seeing more from these cars.
The Jaguar XJ220 has been one of my all time favorite cars, ever since I was a kid! I actually have a 1:18 scale model of that exact one that you were driving! Such a dream machine!!
This is the best series on TH-cam, all genres included xx you guys have a chemistry that feels so real, and it IS real!! You all have great personalities, great taste in cars, and a whole lot of knowledge in your books xx congrats, please let it be another 10 seasons of this!!!
Freddy you are looking trim again great work there! Probably my favorite trio of Car Trek cars so far. Given how clean the FD is underneath, I'd say $16,500 is low for that car as long as there is no hidden accident damage. Congrats on the win! Y'all must have been losing your mind hoping nobody hit the Jaguar while it was stranded.
My Dad owned a TVR for many years. 15:36 I was listing all the things that would be wrong with it🤣🤣 TVR's were never weather sealed underneath to save costs so they all rust and erode away underneath. Dads needed all new chassis out riggers. Still the most amazing dangerous and incredible looking car he ever owned 👌
I really rooted for Freddie's RX7 in this series. It's a true sports car unlike the rest of trio. What Tyler and Ed should've bought to fit in perfectly is something cheaper than a super car so it's affordable to the enthusiast and something that would be driven constantly like a Porsche 944, VR6 Corrado, Alfa Romeo GTV, Audi S2 Coupe or Vauxhall VX220. All of them fun to drive, relatively cheap to maintain and could be found under $15 000 worldwide.
I’d love to see a follow up which found out what’s wrong with engines on the TVR and the Mazda. With all the expected horsepower those would be interesting
RX-7 was the best thing about this season honestly. Would love videos on what you'd do with it. gotta keep the livery though, that's the heart and soul of the car now.
10:26 This is always my favorite part of the Car Trek series. When Freddy and Car Wizard look at the car together and go through it mechanically. Freddy is The Warranty after all. LOL Seriously though, those two respect each other because they both know how to actually fix cars.
Overall I Loved Season 7, my only gripe with the series is that it was just too short of a series, unlike the previous seasons. Hope the next season has more than three episodes.

When you can actually afford a BMW and take care of them correctly they are incredible machines. The problem is people take shortcuts on shit examples to save money then don't do proper maintenance and end up blaming the BMW for their incompetence. Those types are all the same and they're all lazy.
@@BourbonInhibitions tell that to their interior designers , mine was starting to fade and i garaged it. Sure it handed well and was pretty quick but its not worth it unless its an M car.

Love the RX7, would look sweet with a return to a more factory look 😂. As much as I love piston engines this needs to stay a rotary, a three or four rotor, single turbo would be ideal 😉

For me Ed won by default since he actually did the challenge properly. Grey imports are for interesting cars you couldn't get otherwise like the TVR not for essentially cars that you could already get in the USA.
Saw someone said that you should do "Cars from manufacturers that's closed down". Please god, would love to see Freddy or Tyler experience either the unbeliveable character of a Saab 2-stroke, the faster then a 911 Saab 900 Turbo or a 9-3 Viggen. Time for Saab to get some love!

A year later, I'm finally getting to catch up on Car Trek. I was genuinely shocked when Freddy got the abandoned project car to start on the first try for Rich. My favorite "win" of S7! These 3 cars were awesome choices for the series.
in this case i think longer would be better since i have been watching all the seasons i think it is the weakest...... ..... but i have to admit this is still better than 85% of all the other car YT content :)
I think Car Trek needs 4 episodes to make it perfect. It's great even with 3 but the more time we have to fall in love with them, the more I look forward to Car Trek. I didn't mind waiting for a little longer series.

The tvr was the only interesting car this time. I saw hoover was supposed to have that alpina, that would have been much more interesting to watch. The bmw and the Mazda were pretty boring this season
I really like the premise of this season, but the execution was lacking. The Cerbera was the only car that actually fit the criteria, and they were all awful. You guys are always entertaining, but the cars were just boring with no redeeming qualities. So far my least favorite Car Trek by a lot.

US versions of British shows always miss the main aspect (which varies by show) that makes the originals so entertaining.

Yep a well sorted rotary is great and easy to work on and honestly reliable with the most basic maintenance

What Tyler and Ed should've bought to fit in perfectly is something cheaper than a super car so it's affordable to the enthusiast and something that would be driven constantly like a Porsche 944, VR6 Corrado, Alfa Romeo GTV, Audi S2 Coupe or Vauxhall VX220. All of them fun to drive, relatively cheap to maintain and could be found under $15 000 worldwide.
I wouldn't mind that RX7. Despite the engine issue, the car seems to still run fairly well. With a little work, you have a real gem.

I’d love to see a follow up which found out what’s wrong with engines on the TVR and the Mazda. With all the expected horsepower those would be interesting
RX-7 was the best thing about this season honestly. Would love videos on what you'd do with it. gotta keep the livery though, that's the heart and soul of the car now.
10:26 This is always my favorite part of the Car Trek series. When Freddy and Car Wizard look at the car together and go through it mechanically. Freddy is The Warranty after all. LOL Seriously though, those two respect each other because they both know how to actually fix cars.
Overall I Loved Season 7, my only gripe with the series is that it was just too short of a series, unlike the previous seasons. Hope the next season has more than three episodes.

Same here , it was ok on reliability but the parts are just way to much for a 3 sires.
When you can actually afford a BMW and take care of them correctly they are incredible machines. The problem is people take shortcuts on shit examples to save money then don't do proper maintenance and end up blaming the BMW for their incompetence. Those types are all the same and they're all lazy.
@@BourbonInhibitions tell that to their interior designers , mine was starting to fade and i garaged it. Sure it handed well and was pretty quick but its not worth it unless its an M car.

And how old was that interior? I've driven a 2010 3-Series cabriolet and a 2011 X5 recently, and both interiors looked and felt as good as new.

Please always keep the Wizard episode in these series. Honestly they're my favourite, raw and honest and hilarious. I'm not from the US so I can't use autotempest.. But if I was, I would!

Love the RX7, would look sweet with a return to a more factory look 😂. As much as I love piston engines this needs to stay a rotary, a three or four rotor, single turbo would be ideal 😉

For me Ed won by default since he actually did the challenge properly. Grey imports are for interesting cars you couldn't get otherwise like the TVR not for essentially cars that you could already get in the USA.

A year later, I'm finally getting to catch up on Car Trek. I was genuinely shocked when Freddy got the abandoned project car to start on the first try for Rich. My favorite "win" of S7! These 3 cars were awesome choices for the series.

I think Car Trek needs 4 episodes to make it perfect. It's great even with 3 but the more time we have to fall in love with them, the more I look forward to Car Trek. I didn't mind waiting for a little longer series.

The tvr was the only interesting car this time. I saw hoover was supposed to have that alpina, that would have been much more interesting to watch. The bmw and the Mazda were pretty boring this season

I really like the premise of this season, but the execution was lacking. The Cerbera was the only car that actually fit the criteria, and they were all awful. You guys are always entertaining, but the cars were just boring with no redeeming qualities. So far my least favorite Car Trek by a lot.
