1. Incantation Equipment/Item Effects

+10 Golden Order Seal
- Greatly stacks with both Faith and Intelligence

Great guide, but don't forget to mention all this was done with no equip load and dodging is a lot more forgiving, such as her triple slash followed by a fourth slower slash, medium rolling is not always a guarantee, and is safer to roll either to your 1 or 11 o'clock when locked onto her, then roll the fourth slash when she turns. Just something that I found when facing her

if you combine the waterfowl with the hp gain she gets from landing attacks it makes her the hardest boss in the game. ive beat every boss in elden ring without summons including the dlc and prime radahn but still havent been able to get past halfway through her second phase. i appreciate you doing an actual strategy guide and a breakdown of her moveset rather than a cheese guide.

A really excellent video and the only one (of the many I've watched today) that I would actually call a guide. In most other videos you just see a fight where someone is commenting what he just did - and the "did" is the critical part about it. Because when they tell you what just happened, it's already over and you've missed it. Your video is so much better because you actually took the effort to edit it and comment on things before they happen, you show isolated scenes of the various moves, you show them in slow mo and give tips about weapons etc... SO MUCH BETTER!!
I can't believe this got only a few thousand views and you're at less than 200 subscribers, you should have got 10K subscribers just for this video alone. Another proof that quality doesn't count on TH-cam...
Agree 100%! There's lots of Melania guides, but this is the only I could find that showed the moves in slow motion, telling you clearly what to watch for and how to counter.

After 3 days of figuring out how to beat her, I won. I used rivers of blood, also called 2 cooperatives, and kept my distance constantly spamming with 'swarm the flies' incantation. Just be careful because the NPC will try to get you occasionally.

For some reason I decided to fight Malenia for the first time at lvl1, and it was pure torture, took me 703 attempts💀 but finally got it. The 2nd phase of the fight was just really intimidating and all her moves looked completely different from phase 1 to me, but your vid helped me see what she was actually doing. I put the vid on my account, the 2nd phase that I got was just super lucky with what moves she chose to do. Thanks again you shaved off what I imagine would have been countless more hours...

And that's why I suck at this boss.
I cannot drop my extremely aggressive playstyle no matter how hard I try, no matter what build I do. This boss was specifically designed to punish players with my playstyle. I don't play the "sit and wait for my opening" game, I prefer the "make my opening" game.
Maybe that's why I've had such a hard time even with dex/arcane builds. Easiest time I had was with a pyromancer that I basically had Blasphemous Blade and Giantsflame on, with a Magma Blade sidearm which not only staggers but obliterates poise. THAT build I could actually bully her a bit. Felt reeeeeaally good.

Another strategy that worked for me was using heavy weapons (I used two curved greatswords) to stagger and stunlock with Mimic tear. After hours of attempts solo, it took me three tries with Mimic. You just need to get a good back and forth rhythm and stay on her.
If you're to agressive she starts spamming waterfowl dance, she did it with me whenever I was too agressive.

I beat her recently with double halberd, heavy knight. North of 100 deaths, 5 hours, lv 150.
This boss is broken. Took me 3 days to beat her. I finally beat her with frost magic and ranni’s full moon and I used a few freeze pots. The water foul move was a major problem in this fight
Waterfowl Dance is pain in the neck at first. But once you learn to evade or cancel it the fight becomes slightly bearable lol. Thanks for watching!
@@gameballzofficial But you cannot just "evade" it. The game guarantees that if you try to dodge roll away from them, you'll still get hit. It's because of the multi-hit combo. If you dodge one, you'll absolutely get hit by the rest. If you've actually tried it, then you'd know.
Now, running away from the first few multi-slashes and then being lucky enough to dodge the other way from the rest is literally the ONLY way you can have a chance of avoiding any or all of the slashes. Which doesn't apply to if you're too close by the time she starts the combo.
So yes. It is broken. The rest of her moves I can accurately and precisely dodge and counterattack.....but this is objectively bullshit. There's nothing fair about a combo that GUARANTEES you're going to get hit if you aren't miles away from it at first.
Typical lazy SoulsBourne design meant to keep up the gimmick of "get gud" when getting good objectively has nothing to do with it when you can do everything possible in your scenario and STILL get hit by that move 🙄

Hyper armor attacks means infinite poise. Armored attacks means some poise.
hyper armor doesnt give infinite poise it just reduces the poise dmg you take from attacks

step 2: there's no step 2, just enjoy victory

I’ve watched so many guides, nothing helps. Lvl 154 and can barely get out of phase 1. Am I terrible at gaming?
No. She is bullshit. Waterfowl, 2nd phase clone attack AND hp regen is what makes her so hard and bullshitty. 1st phase is relatively easy compared to phase 2 IMO. Relatively being the key word. I've beaten every single boss in the souls games (not the ER DLC yet) and I found this boss to be ass to be honest. You just have to persevere and hope you don't get 3 waterfowls in her second phase (it happens). The RNG elements regarding her moves make it just, well, rather stupid IMO. This is a good guide. I wasted 10 hours of my life beating her solo just to prove that I could but honestly, don't bother. Use Mimic Tear and move on with your life. From need to go back to DS3 style fair bosses, remove Spirit Ashes and the bullshit moves in their next game IMO.

no guide will help you solo malenia except experience, some attacks are not avoidable from reaction and the input delay of rolls are too slow to react to malenia's input reading, something this guide doesnt tell you is that malenia can read when you are going to heal, because since you are not inhuman like these sweatards, you are going to get hit 100%, the important thing is to know when to heal and what to expect, you can heal by running away from fase 1 malenia, she wont follow you and healing away from her is safe on second fase the only windows to heal are the windows you would use to attack, choose wisely, never trade attacks because she heals from any damage, dont use slow charged attacks because you will get trapped inside the waterfowl dance, waterfowl dance has 15 seconds of cooldown, try to bait her into do it with throwing knifes when you feel she is about to do it, not everyone is using broken bleed builds, so use only jump attacks to punish her, jump attacks will stagger her always and deal a lot of damage, can be used while running and you can roll instantly after landing, finally you would like to roll backwards everytime malenia is about to do any attack, except the flurry attack which is delayed, but always roll backwards nontheless, on the water fowl dance the easiest and safest way to avoid is by running backwards and jump on the long first attack, then roll forward through the second, the stay still on the last attack, you will get 1 hit but will be easier than trying to avoid and get catch inside the final attack, besides you can block that single damage for minimal hp loss.
btw you can also get alot of damage from her phase two scarlet bloom she is just sitting still for a long time so if you have the hp you can run in there and do alot of dmg to her
@@fanafelgminecraft5789 you can no tank the scarlet bloom, you will also get scarlet rot ststus effect, the actual benefit from her doing that is that you can buff and then attack as soon as malenia is visible.

@@fanafelgminecraft5789 record it, i tried it with my 2800 HP 60 damage negation character and you can not do anything productive, you will end up wasting flask and boluses.

This game needs a cheat menu. One hit kills, god mode etc. Too damn hard. Been trying to beat Rennala for 22hrs and counting...sigh. I'm level 122 and it means NOTHING! Not in this game, leveling does NOTHING! Just enables you to watch a larger health bar get eliminated in one blast...instead of a short one.
use demihumans +4 vs rennala phase 2. she has no poise so they will knock her around enough for you to get some attacks off.
WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT. I literally defeated Melania 300x easier than some street mobs in Elden ring.
Took me only 4 attempts to kill her, I used Swarm of Flies and Mimic Tear. That's it, she gets melted.
people get lucky and she doesn't do some of the other attacks at all.. and sometimes people get lucky and accidently hit her or the mimic tear does and cancels some of the harder moves she does.. and then some get lucky and she gets trapped in a corner.. which one of these were you? lol
She was hard 32 attempts. Of course I knew how to go into the fight. But I think the hardest enemy I’ve ever dealt with in 40 years of gaming is the farting pig in odyssey assassins creed
