Tip dump for the friendos The Statue guard dog fight has a method to it, a method that applies to basically any Xv1 fight actually, with some exceptions depending on enemy design. They're both long animation enemies so all you gotta do is sprint close and then away from one and then beeline the other and attack it. Preferably sprinting to the melee focused one because that triggers it's AI into winding up and attacking you so once you've gotten close and dipped out again you've effectively tricked it into restricting where it can move for the next few seconds, A soft stun pretty much, because it will wind up, and it can only now move as far as it's attack hasrange, separating them briefly. Rinse and repeat. You do this with Mobs as well, run close to one without attacking it to trigger an attack and then charge the other, Or keep baiting attack responses by entering and exiting range until they've moved away from each other. Its a spin on the FPS concept of winning 2v1s. "First rule of a 2v1 is, don't take a 2v1." Separate the enemy and take multiple 1v1s. In FPS games that's done by moving around cover in such a way that only one enemy has line of sight on you at a time, which lets you duel and kill them before peeking the second one and killing them in a second duel. 2 enemies simultaneously in play, but only engaged one on one so they can't gank you. In a game like elden ring you replace cover with forcing animations without ever committing to the fight until enemies have been staggered into waves that can't hit you at the same time. Alternatively you can use a spirit to distract one and just wail on the other, it's effectively the same thing but if you consider spirits cheap you can do it this way on your own (Weird flex when the game throws two enemies at you but okay) This same strategy works on the twin crucible knight/ordovis(I say this cuz if the dogs are giving you trouble then those two will fuck you up) Redmanes flame makes that fight much easier though because you can trigger them both into an attack, back out of their range and then free aim a wall of poise breaking flames from just outside their attack range while they're still locked in the previously baited attack, which can hit both of them, without allowing them to reactively attack you because you started to charge a spell like they're designed to do, and because that attack lingers and moves outwards you can walk well back and send the flames out as they're walking towards you, they'll meet it halfway and take the hit. Super effective against the twin dogs too but, they're manageable without it just by baiting one and attacking the other. You really don't want to trigger the knights second phases at the same time though, If you can trigger the shield knights phase 2 first then you can bait the Wing attack where it flies past you, just dodge through the attack and he'll land massively separated from the other one which you can then attack or, use that to give you a window to trigger the spear one into an attack so that his range of motion is restricted while you fight the shield one with some space etc. Long story short, stop trying to get hits on a 2 v 1 pair when they're standing within range of each other, you WILL get slapped by the other guy. Works on mobs too, just run close and away, trigger a couple swings in your direction to limit movement and counter attack in that gap. And for the love of god drop some armour if you're fat rolling. Protection is great but you don't need it if you don't get hit to begin with and dodging ranged attacks is really easy when you're not fat rolling, You can basically just spam roll for constant I frames to close distance and then attack one then roll more. If their attacks aren't synchronized, try to use a throwing dart to hit one, staggering him. Chances are when he recovers he'll be firing in sync with the other guy now and you'll dodge both of their attacks with the same roll making it even easier. If you use a heavy weapon, Carry bone darts (If you can't be fucked to farm crystals for that kinda dart bone darts will do) because they give you consistent and fast damage output that you can basically use as a quick attack. Once you have the bones available for purchase at round table you can literally farm a bunch of runes, buy a metric shit tonne of thin bones and have the darts permanently bound to square (X on Xbox I think?) I have 600 stored away from a single farm session, and if an enemy is strong against your weapons damage type they may be weak against the darts. The crystal duo for example was taking more damage per dart hit than my fucking 18+ katana was doing a swing so it had even more utility than just additional damage. Heavy weapons have great power but even their fast attacks are slow, so run darts to replace your fast attacks and abuse the fuck outta heavy attacks whenever you actually have the chance, it's a hell of a lot better than just spending most of your fights dodging and then landing one or 2 hits max every time an enemy cycles through their combos on you.

Hopefully Asmond didn't or doesn't miss the entire Siofr River region accessible from the Limgrave region near your starting point at the beginning of the game.
sorcery goes PEW PEW, asmon goes NO NO NOOOO. well freaking done with some bosses but trying to fight sorcs while fatrolling is not a great move my dude.
I know the feeling of getting frustrated with a particular boss. Happened to me with the Ulcerated Tree Spirit (the one that gives you the Oleg summon). Every time I walked into the boss room, it would immediately rush at me with the grab almost before I was even done with the animation of going through the fog door. But it made it so satisfying when I came back later with the Sword of Night & Flame and just wrecked the thing with the R2 weapon art. To a lesser extent I had frustrations with the Magma Wyrm that drops the Moonveil katana as I just kept getting combinations of bad luck (like getting stuck on the boss's body so that you just get dragged through it's "charge" attack for what is essentially an OHKO. At the same time, there have also been bosses I just trivialized, like the Cemetery Shade (by the time I actually stumbled on the thing I was overleveled), as I just outright one-shot the thing with the R1 weapon art from the Sword of Night & Flame. The Erdtree Avatar as well (the first one Asmon fought), I managed to beat the thing without getting hit even once. I'm sure other bosses will give me trouble down the road though, Flying Dragon Agheel for instance I expect will be infuriating.
If you are at least level 40 the flying dragon agheel will be a walk in the park, I didn’t encounter him till level 45 with a +5 bloodhounds fang and it was easy as it gets
9:43 Lmao in the one souls game Fromsoft adds a forgiveness mechanic he decides to just kill the NPC immediately versus letting it go awhile and checking back later… likely having learned about the forgiveness mechanics by then. Hope everyone else learns from this at least lol.
25:59 you use a shield with high magic resistance or with an ash of war that increases magic resistance and walk towards them with a shield up…. Or you use one of the Myriad of ranger options to a strength build such as crossbow (or bow), crystal dart, bone dart; ect. If what your doing doesn’t seem to be working …. Think what can I do differently to make this more manageable.
Did Asmon already go to the Murkwater Cave in Limgrave where he can find a very familiar face for soul players? Beware of killing the encounte though, cause if you do you might miss out on some stuff.
The Carian Knight before Rennala's elevator is still bugged to this day btw. Trying to riposte him after a guard break leads to him recovering instantly and parrying you. Fun times.

@@AmeiWasHere the one in the Deeproot Depths, that isn't a boss but doesn't respawn was terribly easy, it's slow and predictable. I love to watch Asmon playing this game but I can’t imagine playing it myself. Even during the stream the game is giving me anxiety and unnerving feeling caused by the world being so vast and yet so empty and lonely. I know there is a lot of enemies, I can’t quite explain what I feel. PS: I don’t hate the game, I think it’s amazing. I admire everyone playing and beating it because to me this is one of the hardest game there is.
That's how every souls game has been for me and why I have yet to attempt to play any of them other than demon souls on ps3 and dark souls 2. I can't play these games without my heart beating out my chest and not knowing where to go
Let me tell you, I know exactly what you mean. Dark Souls has got to be the most lonely and sad experiences, both aesthetically, but also because I die a lot in them. This game isn't near that level, tbh. The world is vast, but it isn't lonely - the amount of merchants, NPCs you can find, it is filled with them. The aesthetic being very other-worldly/magical really adds to the experience. Even some important bosses have opening cinematics and they talk to you during their fights. Also if you're ever having trouble, go somewhere else, fight an easier boss, level up, come back with near gear and a higher level and win. I've beaten most bosses in a few tries, or even 1 try (I beat Rennala 1 try), and I've only ever beaten Dark Souls 1, so it's not like I am that great at these games. Godrick was a huge pain though, but I could even see methods to level past him (I missed so many bosses before fighting him). This is probably the most brimming with life Souls game FromSoft has made, both literally and metaphorically.
The Mages in this game are MAD OP, I feel like fromsoft should have put an FP/Casting limit on them (atleast momentarily.) Like, you give an enemy a stamina bar and a flask limit but not a limit on the hardest hitting, fastest and cheapest thing they can do? I ain't even gonna start with that NPC in the giant wizards tower.

What infuriates me is seeing how much damage you got on Rennala. Magic has been my primary tool in Elden ring and that boss has given me more pain and annoyance than any other so far. Great vids tho, a lot of fun to watch when I’m not trying to get through the game myself.
Your magic isn't that strong then, my friend helped me out because I'm a tank build and he fucked her shit up before I could even reach her. She's a magic caster so her magic resistance is high

The boss souls are the only ones you really don’t want to loose because you can’t regard them for a second time unlike the normal enemy’s that spawn around the world. The bosses have double and triple souls most of the time vs having to farm random enemy’s for hours to get the same amount.
there is actually a simple move to dodge the ball: you go on the imddle and when it starts rolling go left and pass unscated, then, pull the invader to the falling bball area
Just enter the stairway from the furthest up crossing, run diagonally to the other side and keep moving, it will miss you and once passed cross to the other side, you should be at the top by the time it respawns
To be fair the Erdtree burial duo is one of the hardest bosses in the game. Trees are easy though. Like one of the only bosses that you learn the patterns of without issues.
For people that are put off by the percieved difficulty the game is actually designed so that if a boss or area is too difficult you can (usually) go and explore another area and come back later when you're stronger.

The Statue guard dog fight has a method to it, a method that applies to basically any Xv1 fight actually, with some exceptions depending on enemy design.
"First rule of a 2v1 is, don't take a 2v1."
Separate the enemy and take multiple 1v1s.
Alternatively you can use a spirit to distract one and just wail on the other, it's effectively the same thing but if you consider spirits cheap you can do it this way on your own (Weird flex when the game throws two enemies at you but okay)
This same strategy works on the twin crucible knight/ordovis(I say this cuz if the dogs are giving you trouble then those two will fuck you up)
Redmanes flame makes that fight much easier though because you can trigger them both into an attack, back out of their range and then free aim a wall of poise breaking flames from just outside their attack range while they're still locked in the previously baited attack, which can hit both of them, without allowing them to reactively attack you because you started to charge a spell like they're designed to do, and because that attack lingers and moves outwards you can walk well back and send the flames out as they're walking towards you, they'll meet it halfway and take the hit.

@@emdies-mds4957 Well yeah it's hardly helpful if I just say "Dodge 4head" now is it
I've been playing for 12 hours and have yet to find the area this video starts in lol. That's how truly open this game is.
i’ve played for 3 days straight at almost 30 hours thinking i’ve explored almost everything, but couldn’t even watch the video because everywhere i skip is something that i haven’t seen and i don’t wanna spoil myself
That rennala fight makes me so mad, I try doing the same thing and when she’s below half she just spams the summons after every hit
“That was legitimately challenging…that was-*sees the next boss from afar*…👁💧👄💧👁”
I love that this guy is so proud to say "Fuck sorcery!" Then continues to get got by all the sorcerers
Fun times.
9:30 had me laughing pretty hard when you changed your tune once you saw the loot.
15:25 He was so happy to get it but never carried on using it, anyone remember why? He loved it in the other Souls games.
The laugh after he got parried was beautiful
28:46 lol the way he hit at that time when the you died screen showed up , looks like he pointing at your corpse and was saying " WHAT ARE THOSE?!" 😂😂.
I went nowhere near the Erdtree Avatars until I was lv 70-80, I still can't take down the Putrid avatar with my Uchigatana double wielding DEX build. I'm not a great soulsborne enthusiast, but I love this game.
Same. Some of those tree avatars are jerks though.....
@@AmeiWasHere the one in the Deeproot Depths, that isn't a boss but doesn't respawn was terribly easy, it's slow and predictable. Some people hate royal revenants because they attack relentlessly, leaving hardly any window to heal but I had no difficulty taking them down fast. I hate abductor virgins, no bloodloss, massive damage, high HP, hard to dodge grab attack and they're invulnerable while doing it. I really hate them.

18:33 I don't know if he ever went back, but he missed a very important item for getting into the magic academy in that area (its where the dragon was sleeping at the beginning). I only mention this as I remember seeing a clip of him talking about not knowing where the academy was. Also in regards to whether or not to use a horse, some fights are just easier on foot such as the erd tree guardian you were on as there attacks are just really to doge into and get free hits.
21:29 literally me every day.
i loved the way he just gets disenchanted in the end
In order to get the great sword you have to go way deeper into Darian and Devin's quest line, it still involves death just much later, this is why you never kill people within 5 seconds of meeting them.
Elden ring looks though, may have to try it out. Thanks to you asmongold!

It's on the easier side of DS games since you can explore and gain a lot of power before bosses. It might be your cup of tea
I like every time Asmon got annihilated by the game, he just went 😮
It's fine if you hate it, I do
That's how every souls game has been for me and why I have yet to attempt to play any of them other than demon souls on ps3 and dark souls 2.
This is probably the most brimming with life Souls game FromSoft has made, both literally and metaphorically.
bro i hated going through teh academy, the only saving grace was that bosses were pushovers a bit, the mobs honestly carried the difficulty there
Got to love how he talks shit about magic then proceeds to get bodied by it.
Unga Bunga won't save you forever if your enemy is faster and smarter, lmao.
@@prometheanrebel3838 Just gotta die a few times. My first playthrough was with unga bunga build.
Out of all the games ever made, this is one of them.
Absolutely love these streams.
I remember in the new game plus, I just didn't want to try to fight that knight properly, and just want to try kamehameha that guy to death
This guy is absolutely hilarious what a legend.
I feel like mcconnell was the highlight of elden ring so far. Love listening to him and asmon chat and make fun of life :) would love to see more mccool.

That knight boss at the start of the video... I tried to run away from him, and he followed me out on the stairs and got crushed by the falling stones. Accidental cheese.
@@cosmicgrim7963 maybe my magic isn’t strong, at the time of writing the OG comment I only had 25 INT, but I wasn’t able to have a friend in the fight because the first phase would bug and the singing girl wouldn’t spawn.

The two cat bosses, I ran around the outside of the room in a big circle. They get hung up on the pillars. I killed the magic one with throwing knives then killed the melee one.
They're long animation enemies so all you gotta do is sprint close and then away from one and then beeline the other and attack it.
Preferably sprinting to the melee one because that triggers it's AI into winding up and attacking you so once you've gotten close and dipped out again you've effectively tricked it into restricting where it can move for the next few seconds, separating them briefly. Rinse and repeat.
Alternatively you can use a spirit to distract one and just wail on the other.

Did no one tell him about the church of vows after he hit D?
To be fair the Erdtree burial duo is one of the hardest bosses in the game. Trees are easy though. Like one of the only bosses that you learn the patterns of without issues.
29:25 It gets worst when you realize that you can just run to the shortcut
For people that are put off by the percieved difficulty the game is actually designed so that if a boss or area is too difficult you can (usually) go and explore another area and come back later when you're stronger.
What if every single area is too difficult??
@@RussKarlberg Just get the summoning bell and you pretty much cant lose. Theres only one boss in the game that can somewhat outdo a good summon, and if you make it to her odds are you're decent at the game. Or for an even easier time just summon cooperators.
@@RussKarlbergit’s not. Limgrave is easy af and worst comes to worse grind there and find all the mines and catacombs till you are strong enough to progress.
There's nothing more annoying that when you're pummeling an enemy and kicking his arse, then he suddenly fights back and kills you with a combo out of nowhere.
